Okay here's the launch of the ORS photo Comp. I threw the idea out and there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm for it and I'm happy to handle it.

As we're keen, I figure let's get it running right now. So you all know it's running for Monday night's round. Monaco should be good for photos too.

I just had a few questions to ask Oni, about his views on how to run a photo comp. He's agreed to have the comp be played out in the main ORS thread. This is part of the appeal of running it, that the thread will be full of great shots from the various rounds.

And to keep that feel, I don't want the thread to get bogged down by a complex photo comp, I want to keep it fun and easy. So I figure the structure I'm about to lay out will work

So I'm just going to list some of the main rules & regulations right now, that I've worked out in my head. I'll probably modify and adjust as we go. If you have any ideas or suggestions, let me know, post it or send a PM.

Winner - the weekly winner gets to chose the theme for the next week's photo comp. A new theme each week will keep it interesting and the different themes could suit the next week's race/track.

Overall winner(?) - I'm still not sure if we need an overall winner of the series Photo comp, do we need to do that?? I think if there's the weekly winner, that might be enough. I could offer up a car, if you guys want to have a overall series champ. I'm nearly thinking a novelty car like a ****ty old 70's hatch painted all gold. As we all have numerous good desirable cars.

Closing time for submission - 6:00PM Sunday. By Sunday night there will be a post listing this weeks entries. Vote on Sunday and Monday, we should have a winner declared by Monday night around the finish of the weekly race. The winner gets to name next week's theme, even if he names the theme a day or 2 later, it should still be a workable thing.

Picture Entry - One picture entry allowed for the comp each week. You are allowed to post as many pictures from the latest round as you want, encouraged to do so. Just have the last picture be the one you've chosen to be in the comp. Red text above the picture indicating: Comp Entry The comp entry needs to suit the theme for the week, other shots can be whatever you did that looks good. If you only want to post the one picture for the Comp Entry, that's fine too.

Picture hosting - It's up to you how you want to host the pictures. It looks like most of you have that sorted out already, any questions just ask. There are guides on how to do this in the Photomode sections of GTPlanet.

Voting - All drivers listed in the ORS series are allowed to vote. When all Comp entries are in I will put a post in the thread and it will have the different entries shown as clickable thumbnails. It'll all be in a single post, should be a neat and clean way to do it. Then to place your vote, Just PM me your vote, when possible
- Voting Additional 21/5/12 : Gentleman's Agreement - Series members with entries in the voting pool are still allowed to vote. We simply ask that in the spirit of the contest we use a gentleman's agreement and that no-one votes for their own entry. A polite reminder will be issued if this rule is overlooked.

Photoshop - Only minor photoshop can be used on the Comp Entry. Keep it basic, things like cropping an image to frame it a certain way once it's off the PS3 is fine, other minor things like levels adjust is allowable. We're wanting to keeping it fun and easy, we don't want to have guys win due to their advanced photoshop skills. As that might drive away people who are not photoshop capable. Using the filters and effects in GT5 is fine, even advisable really as it is needed in certain situations. If you do want to photoshop a few of your other shots then that's okay, just not the Comp Entry image.


- Please don't use the posting of pictures as a way of criticising or 'dobbing-in' another driver's actions. ie: Here's a shot of "Dilbert" riding that ripple strip, I was following for several laps and he did this 50% of the time . . . moan, moan . . .

- Let's not get the idea for a weekly video comp, because . . . yikes.

Hey Spin great work mate! I could see you really pushing your line into that last corner...fighting for every little bit of exit speed! It's great to see you record that part of the race...brilliant chase you put on then Spin!...Ohh and your commentary was good.

Well done Jas, Willco and Spin, it's awesome watching those replays keep them coming, they really add a new level to an already excellent series. And it's cool to see the battles for position going on all over the track:tup:👍

And lastly if Rusty's getting 1:31.5xx on softs at Monaco, I'm in for a rather bad night of racing I haven't done a lot of practice and I'm not the biggest fan of this track ( keep clipping the walls ) I think my best was mid 1:35 on softs (moan,moan,poor me) still can't wait, hope I don't get DCd again

Don't worry to much Evan i think you will be battling with team voda most of the race. We have no pace there. The uphill sections and the long straights we lose 2.5 seconds to Rusty's time. Though Rusty's 31 was with no tyre wear. When we had tyre wear i think he did a low 32. Either way still Team Voda is 2-2.5 seconds off that time.

I thought I might just let you guys know that I take off for the week early tmorrow morning...I'm almost 100% sure that I will make Monday's race...although probably without any practice.

Evening all

Let me be the first to post a photo from monday nights race. Oh such fun was had as i left the line, cleanly around the first right hander, always difficult with such a large field of cars. Slowly i pushed the accelerator hard to the floor trying to keep the car from getting unsettled while the tyres come up to temperature. Once through the apex i look to my right to see that i'm in clean traffic, i hit 5th, full throttle and squeeze up under up jasr bumper...........

well thats about it

When I get home I'll record and upload my replay of YOU smashing into the back of me.Just because you have a rubbish connection I paid for it.You know your connection is no good on a regular basis but does not seem to bother you at all.After the contact with me I had rear damage both sides and you showed front damage.We both immediately went into the pits.I don't give a rats ar....s. what your dodgy replay shows I'm telling what really happened. Lag sucks. Good to see both sides of the story though. No one wins.

Not cool to leave cos of just one incident pawel. **** happens hey, and you don't ALWAYS lag mate. We've all coped a lag crash at some stage, and I know how u feel Stape, as we had issues with lag in previous series'. Not cool blast people over it, and not cool to walk away from the series either! Deal with it like grown ups, then kiss n make up and move on. Keep the good spirit of ORS goin boys...

Sadly there is not alot you can do apart from resetting your router before logging in, clear your GT5 cashe and have nothing else running on your home network.

I've got no problems with your racing, and if that means the occasional "Love Tap of Lag", so be it. (..and if I should ever forget and complain, remind me of this forum post, and tell me to STFU! )

Look again , Pawels car only got damage from when yours bounced off the wall and into his. Not from the lag hit. That's the thing , In Pawels race , the lag didn't happen so the damage didn't. From my replay , the lag hits do damage to Pawels car because those impacts DID happen in my race (and in yours).

The only doubt that would be in my mind was why 2 cars that I was following closely suddenly lurch forward and hit walls ? Clear signs of lag happening , even though no lag is visible.

Still no ones fault , people just need to deal with it or stay well clear of anyone that they see lagging (my tactic)

This is exactly why i'm leaving, stape does have a point though, as much as i want to stay, i don't want to risk anymore frustration for anyone.
It's only a game, but some people take it more seriously than others.
