How can you say you agree 100% when you just completely contradicted yourself?

How can you give it a 9.5 out of 10 for durability if the Alcantara on yours is already coming off? It's not even two months old! What is it going to look like in two years?

It doesn't matter if it performs as a more expensive wheel if it doesn't work properly and falls apart. You just demonstrated why some of these reviews are indeed useless. Your review is now obviously heavily biased.

Also IMO it doesn't matter what game you play with it be it iRacing, GT or Mario Kart, for $1000 it has to not only perform but it needs to last. I REALLY want one of these too but as long as the community as a whole accepts these quality issues and passing them off like they are no big deal, they will continue to happen. You aren't doing the community any favors by making light of the issues.

What is an "issue" to you may not be an issue to everyone else. Each person has different levels of tolerance and different expectations for their consumer product purchases. For example, when we bought our Volvo XC60 there was a minor imperfection in the seams of the leather in the back seat, I could have brought it back to the dealer and demanded they replace the entire seat, but I accepted it as "not that bad." That doesn't mean the rest of the car has quality issues, but someone else who bought the same car might have made a huge deal about spending $50k a car and having an imperfection in the leather seam.

Besides, you are supposed to wear gloves with Alcantara anyways, makes it last MUCH longer when the oils and sweat from your hands isn't eating away the material.

I think their internal system tied into generating UPS tracking numbers has problems since their site crash.
I received a UPS tracking number today for an item (CSW/CSP V.2 UNRELATED) that was delivered two hours later.
Tracking shows that Fanatec shipped it to me at the beginning of the week.

They have some kind of office presence in BH, but no one ever answers the number and it has a canned recording. Their warehouse or fulfillment center seems to be in La Mirada, CA because that is where they instruct product slated for RMA replacement be sent, and that is a point of origin for new product shipped in USA. I think that may be contracted out to a company there called Centra Worldwide/Suddath Logistics Group.

If you are down the FWY from BH, go scope this address out on Wilshire and photo tell the rest of us what you find. Google Earth doesn't really provide what an up-close-and-personal scope does. The address seems to be a large office building, but includes no office/suite info. I used to live in South Bay but I am now in the SW Desert, so a bit too far for me to recon now.

Endor USA LLC
8350 Wilshire Blvd
Beverly Hills, CA 90211-2327

The recon will be easy enough. My girlfriend lives in Santa Monica and it so happens it's my turn to make the drive up. I just might be a little late tomorrow. :sly:
La Mirada has a lot of fulfillment houses. Not surprised. =) Monday should be like Christmas in the office =)

Interesting. Does Fanatec warn users of this. They should offer to supply Gloves.

Haven't noticed anything wrong with my 18 month old wheel though.

My GT3rs held up very well without using gloves, I heard that from others and I don't see a history of people posting about problems with earlier wheels. If it turns out to be a regular issue with the new wheels I certainly would not consider one.

If I "have" to wear gloves with it, why would I even want it to be Alcantara? To me, its like buying a nice couch and putting a plastic cover on it.

I'll keep this short, because this started a huge debate a couple months ago.

The gloves will make the fabric last longer because the oils secreted by our skin are destructive. The side benefit is that if you get decent entry level race/kart gloves the material they are made out of grips VERY well to the Alcantara.

Plenty of people have been using Alcantara wheels without gloves and they hold up fine in the short term (a year or two) but after a while, you'll notice the fabric won't have that smooth look any more and it will feel more rough as well.

I (and other people) recommend gloves to get the maximum life and grip from the Alcantara surface, but by no means am I saying anyone has to.

Just ordered my CSP V2.
Now I just need some news on that GT rim for the Elite and the CS Handbrake.
Come on Thomas, majority wants the GT or both !!!

Sounds good! What gloves do you and anyone else recommend? I would have thought that gloves could interfere or mute the FFB?

I have noticed that in one vid (Sebastian Kjimel(sp)) the reviewer was wearing gloves nice looking gloves by SPARCO.
something like this...

edit....I received the UPS tracking number for the CSW and rim and it says delivery is next Thursday and the CSPV2 on Wednesday (they were on separate ticket)

Hi guys,

Does anybody know approximate packing weight for these?
CSW :
CSR Elite :
CSP v2 :
CSR Elite Pedals :

Thanks

All Fanatec outer boxes come with 2 weights, gross, and net marked.

Gross is the full weight with packaging, net is just the product.

Use gross to estimate shipping charges.

LogiForce kindly supplied me with these when the embargo was lifted:

Gross weights / Net Weight

CSW Base: 6.98 kg / 5.55 kg
CSW Formula: 1.88 kg / 1.31 kg
CSW BMW: 3.50 kg / 2.11 kg
CSP V2: 7.20 kg / 5.3 kg

CSR E: 8.85 kg/ 6.75 kg (obtained from the Team VVV CSR E un-boxing video @ 0:29 sec.)

If anyone knows these values for the Clubsport Clamp please let me know.

I PMed someone I thought might know a few days ago but have not received a reply.

+1 :)

I think we will soon have the same config. The Elite/Clubsport base is really fantastic. I have spent two hours trying to be faster than a friend (I fail) and it was really nice trying to improve every corner. More I use my Elite, more I like it.

Thanks for the info in general. My thought was not "have to" but an implied, "have to in order to have an acceptable life span". If people's grips start falling apart with or without gloves after a few months, I am sure no one will consider it acceptable. I hope that doesn't happen of course but time will tell.

Just ask a BMW or Porsche dealer on the lifespan of Alcantara rims. Plus also do not forget about all the people that used their Fanatec Porsche wheels with Alcantara for many years already. I think you do not have to worry about lifespan. More the look and feel being reduced due to sweat being absorbed and getting stuck in the material, not the grip.

The context is, over the last few pages we have multiple references to problems with the grip. So reliability has been questioned and as I said time will tell if it is a real issue or not.

The way I see it, the price is actually very fair. For example same size sparco wheel costs just under 200 in my country, but BMW rim has more metal on it, it has back cover, shifters and bunch of electronics. Price seem just about right considering all those, but that's not all, Fanatec rims also include QR system which isn't cheap. So it actually amazes me how they could keep the price that low.

Fanatec BMW GT rim despite its physical similarity to the real thing- correct me if I'm wrong- lacks safety certification from organizations like TÜV, CE, DOT (and FIA if pertains to racing). Parts from Sparco because it's meant for actual driving/racing use, needs these types of certifications. The testing and QC procedures are more rigorous hence the higher prices and I don't think the real BMW GT rim is made in China and probably cost a lot more than $250.

For example, the FIA approved LIFELINE Quick release (w/electrical contact) attachments for Touring car (GT) costs around $570 each.

Hey guys.

I don't know if this is the right place for it but since this thread gets quite a few views, I'm going to try it here.

If you purchase a fanatec wheel second hand and it's still in the warranty period, can you get it fixed or does the original purchaser have to submit the claim.

I'm assuming you need the invoice number as well ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone have newer beta firmware that also works on ps3/xbox360 for the PWTS or GT2? I like the new features and don't want to have to flash back to the previous firmware to play GT5 :/

I'm using 742 on my CSR-E with both GT5 and FM4 without any issues.

Any one checked out the video manuals yet over on Fanatec's YouTube channel?

It gives a little insight into the CSS, fixed paddle shifters and also an LCD display which will plug into the data port.

I myself, was contemplating getting a LCD, either an Sli Pro or something made via Symprojects devices. Seeing this video though will make me wait and see what Fanatec comes up with!

Just looking at those videos today, is it just me, or is the Elite an underrated wheel that should be supported more fully?

Yes, it may be hobbled by the Microsoft limitations, but... get this... it works on every worthwhile system going!!! That's gotta be more impressive than a couple of shift lights, surely?!

If I remember correctly, CSW includes only two wire adapters. Why so? It kind of makes pointless the ability to connect both shifters to a wheel, if you only have one adapter for a shifter as you use the other one for pedals. I hope I'm wrong.

According to Thomas, the warenty does not officaly transfer to the new owner, but they will generaly honor it if you have a copy of the original receipt. So just make sure you can get the seller to agree to giving you a copy of that receipt and it should probably be ok.

I ordered a set of CSPv2 from my holiday adress, last week. They were delivered today.👍

Can't try them untill next week though. I'm pretty anxious to see how they look and feel.
