Please put jakobnascar88 and I down as the drivers of the two camaros.

sure thing

I would like to join just for the Mid-Ohio race if thats OK.

Of course! It would be great to have the Indy 500 champion even if its only for one race. Would have sent you a PM about joining this but I could not remember your GTP username :)

EDIT: and before anyone gets upset about stealing drivers, I asked polarbear if it was ok if I let james signup and he said it was.

Cropped the logo for you, doesn't have the massive white space now.

And by the way, if you want me to do the OP for the main thread mate, whenever you're ready just forward all the stuff you want in it to me and I'll put it together in a regular post that you can copy and paste. I know you're not the best with this kind of thing ;)

I might take interest in this seeing as how the things in the 'other' Grand Am aren't going very good. Politics aside, I don't care to discuss anything between the two series, each has their strong/weak points IMO. But I have some interest in this because the Zonda is challenging.

With us using the RM camaro are we aloud to choose are own numbers or do we have to do the color scheme and number scheme of Stevenson Motorsports?

I will probably sign up for DP depending on race dates and info when the thread goes up.

you can do your own numbers and colors

cool, glad to have you, if you have any questions feel free to ask

Personally I think you should just make the Laguna race 2 hours, makes it simpler for people to remember. We'll also need to mention in the OP how the races end on time, this is the protocol (from the GTP WRS):

Race End

checkered_flag_waving.gif

  • At 2.4 hours (2:24:00.000 on the race clock) the "white" flag will be waved.
  • The first time the overall race leader (from the LMP class) passes the finish line after 2.4 hours the checkered flag is waved and the leader's race is over. I.e. the first lap completed after 2.4 hours completes the leaders race. After passing the start/finish line the leader should immediately slow to 50 MPH and announce the checkered flag (press start and type "Checkered Flag"). No car should pass him at any time going forward. Any close finishes at the line will be reviewed with replay for the official results. Note: if in doubt, finish your lap and the results will be reviewed.
  • After the checkered flag is announced all drivers should complete their current lap and their race is finished when they next pass the finish line. They should line up behind the train of cars that have already finished moving at 50 MPH. When the last car passes the start/finish line we will announce race end, record the results and then allow everyone to exit track and save the replay.
  • If you are in the pits beyond the start/finish line when the leader takes the checkered flag you can complete your lap *only* if you can exit pit road before the leader passes the pit exit. You cannot past the leader on the parade lap.

Their multi class racing guidelines are also something we should be looking at, or at least something similar:

Mixed Class Racing Rules

Both classes must share the road and show some courtesy to the other class!

LMP Class Ground Rules:
  • Be Patient: Your job is to get around the GT class responsibly. Do not dive bomb a GT class car under braking putting them in jeopardy if you make a mistake. Understand where you car holds the advantage and utilize those areas to execute passes safely.
  • Have good situation awareness. If GT class drivers you are approaching are engaged in close battles don't expect them to stop their battle and let you go by. You may have to slow and pick your passing lines carefully. You may lose a gap you've built over a competing LMP driver, but that's the nature of multi-class racing. Everyone has a right to the road and everyone is going to get stuck behind a slower car at some point in the race.

GT Class Ground Rules:
  • Be predictable. Pick your line and and hold it. Don't suddenly change your line thinking it will allow faster cars to pass. You will just surprise them and mess up any plan they've already made to get around you. If you are taking a corner on the inside hold that line on exit and allow the LMP car to pass on the outside. If you are on an outside line in a corner, maintain that line on exit.
  • Have good situation awareness. Understand which cars and how many are around you. Is there one LMP class car attempting to pass or a pack of them. Where do the LMP cars have a big advantage over you (straight, under braking, mid corner).
  • Do not block: GT drivers do not have to move aside for an approaching LMP car, but they are not allowed to "block" or interfere with an LMP car trying to pass.

yeah, timed races should be simple, once the time limit is reached then the next time you cross the start/finish line you are done. Slow down for the cool down lap and I think I would rather see people head into the pits and pause and have the 2 class winners come around to the start/finish line for a photo like we did for IndyCar at Madrid.

the class racing rules are good and will be good for everyone to know, the Zonda is about 3-5 seconds faster per lap than the GT cars so it will be work to get through the GT field.

I really don't want to have to put engine stage 3 on a Zonda, but I want that Red Dragon. Never been in the faster class in a multi-class series before, so may as well start here.

Still not sure If I'll go full time or not. I'll see once I get my wheel back.

Generally you have to ask to plug but whatever...

Good to hear Mule, hope you get your wheel sorted out mate 👍

If there are 16 or fewer qualifiers, all will race in one room. If there are more, we'll split the DP class down the middle with the top half racing in D1 and the bottom in D2; then we'll try and fill D1 with the top GT qualifiers unless that would mean the D2 race would have too few cars, in which case more GT cars would be put into D2 resulting in more equal room sizes.

Qualifying Procedure

Live-week long qualifying, one out lap, two timed laps, one chance. All qualifying will be done in public rooms, but all drivers admitted into the series will be allowed to qualify each other, effectively making this an all steward participatory. All times will be submitted to and collected on a related website interface created by PURE members.

Each driver will qualify in race mode. The host will give the go ahead to join track after doing two car checks. A maximum of four drivers can qualify at the same time but only if there are four more drivers in the racing lobby able to spectate the session and confirm the laps as clean. These other drivers do not need to be stewards themselves. The race will be set to 4 laps.
All stewards are required to save the replay.

Lap 1 is your warm up, Lap 2 and 3 are your 2 flyers, lap 4 is your "cool down." The 4th lap is an extension to give the steward time to note the data. You must always finish the 4th lap if not stated otherwise by the steward. The 4th lap is also there if more than 1 car is qualifying at the same time (Start with 15 seconds between drivers). This is because, technically, the last driver in a session can be more than 180 seconds behind (which is the maximum end race timer setting), so to make sure even the last driver is able to finish his 2nd flying lap, the 4th lap is there.

If a lap is dirty a standard penalty of 5% of the dirty lap's time will be added onto it to make the time official. A clean lap will always be made the official time over a dirty lap even if the dirty lap with the penalty added is still faster.
A qualifying session can under no circumstance be restarted. You'll get one shot, and one shot only.

ns5PL.png

Disconnection During Qualifying

You're allowed to reconnect and start from where you left off (must be confirmed by the observing steward) but the lap that you disconnected on will count as "dirty" with no registered lap time.
So if you disconnect during your warm up lap, all is good, just reconnect and restart your session. If you disconnect during your first flying lap (Lap: 2), that lap is dirty, and you may reconnect, but this time, only your second flying lap (Lap: 3) will count. If you disconnect during you second flying lap (Lap: 3), your first flyer will be your time. No need to restart the session since your last flyer, the one you disconnected on in this case, is dirty with no registered lap time.

If the person watching your lap, if it's just the two of you for example, disconnects for some reason this automatically disqualifies the session unless you save and upload the replay and the host watching confirms that the laps in the replay was indeed the session he was watching. Otherwise you must re-attempt your qualifying.

Qualifying Deadline

12:00BST (7:00 Eastern) on Sundays

This is the deadline for qualifying time submissions, any submitted after this time will be disregarded. All times must be submitted to me using the template below.

Driver - ?
Steward - ?

Lap 1 - xx.xx.xxx Clean/Dirty (Delete as appropriate)
Lap 2 - xx.xx.xxx Clean/Dirty (Delete as appropriate)

After 12:00BST, I will post the qualifying times on the PURE site where they can be viewed using the results/tables link also under 'News' in post 1 of this thread.

Pre-Race Inspection

I will call the drivers of each individual machine to go to track one by one in the order below to perform pre-race inspection, you must stay on track until I tell you otherwise or you are booted off by the regulation checks. Do not enter your settings page at any point during inspection, such as after the regulation changes boot you from track, else you will have to undergo a second inspection. Doing this more than once will result in disqualification.

Please stay off the text chat during all inspection procedures.

1 - PP limit set to 570, Audi R8 LMS to track.
2 - PP limit set to 573, BMW M3 GTR to track.
3 - PP limit set to 574, Ferrari 458 to track.
4 - PP limit set to 575, Mazda RX-8 LM to track.
5 - PP limit set to 579, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 RM to track.
6 - PP limit set to 582, Chevrolet Camaro SS RM to track.
7 - PP limit set to 624, Pagani Zonda R to track.

This procedure will be repeated for horsepower and weight if I deem it necessary, therefore you should make sure your specs are correct in case I do so.

Formation Lap

- Pole sitter will be contacted on what side of the track they would prefer to start from (right or left). This detail will be conveyed to all drivers in the room via text chat.

- Even number qualifiers will always be on the second place cars lane. Odd number qualifiers will be in the pole sitters lane on the other side.

- Once the GT5 race countdown has completed and the race event has begun all drivers must hold position and wait for confirmation from the host to proceed. Use your handbrakes, sit silently, report any suspicious latency between cars or lag jolting/skipping.

- After the host has given the go ahead all DP class drivers will begin to slowly form up in qualifying order while GT cars hold still at the start line. The leader must act as herder, they must not pre-maturely advance from the group, it is their job to keep the pace slow enough until all cars are in position then proceed to formation speed which is an even pace at 100 kmh / 62 mph.

- GT car pole sitter will hold until the DP group is past the first corner, at this time the GTE field may form up and begin their way up to pace speed.

- The GT field leader must keep a gap of at least 20 seconds behind the leader of the DP field (use the split times to help gauge distance).

- The DP leader must wait for the grid to line up behind them completely on the start straight as shown below, before starting the race by applying full throttle at the pre-determined track race starting mark (may not always be the regular start/finish line).

YvaOj.png

- No weaving is allowed during formation lap and you must not overlap the car ahead of you.

- Do not pass any car until you're past the point the pole sitter started the race at.

- Jump starters will be given warnings or penalties depending on severity.

- If a driver is damaged on formation then the damaged driver must communicate this through text chat and continue at a reasonable speed to the pit area. The other cars will continue on as normal and the damaged car(s) can join the group as they come around for their first lap. At this point the formation lap will continue on for a second lap after which the race will begin. If it happens once more, the same contingency will be applied and a third formation lap will go on. After this, no more "formation restarts" will be acceptable and the affected drivers must either retire or start far behind the group. Drivers experiencing extreme lag will be asked to leave so the other drivers can race.

- If, for any reason, a driver misses the formation start and stays behind still on the track the race will not go on, it must be restarted to eliminate the obstacle.
