I think it's funny how people are just coming up with their own ideas for what he means then other people are being dissapointed. One guy in another thread even managed to decide "human drama" = PS4 game.

Interesting reading on how people look into these things.

The first thing that came into my mind when I heard "human drama" was mechanical failures, especially the image of Mika Hakkinen cruising to an halt at Catalunya with a broken gearbox in 2001.

The highs lows of a career... contracts, wins, losses, maybe fighting for a drive? Could help the "RPG" aspect... personalise your driver, and watch him rise through the ranks in B spec, and drives as him from karts to Le Mans and FGT Championship...

Funny. Everyone keeps saying how GT is the same old boring game formula, and now Kaz mentions something new and almost everyone complains again. Can we at least see how this stuff is implemented in the game before hating everything?

Except he said nothing, based on the translation. Saying something new would be:

More than 16 cars on track
Online car clubs
Livery editor
Game plugs into your brain directly

Something new is not:

GT6 will have this thing, and it will be super great, and no one has ever seen it before.

What has been mentioned that is new for GT6?

More dynamic A.I. is what first popped into my head when I seen the comment. Like, actual accidents that could lead to DNFs.

Maybe an (optional?) online only career mode where we race against each other, structured like real life racing seasons, or vastly improved, highly dynamic AI, that effectively creates the illusion of the human drama of real world racing.
Hmmm......could be amazing...............
Still knowing Kaz & PD, it'll probably be to the drama of real life racing, what Bspec is to real world team-racing management, a dull, sterile, monotonous grindfest, that captures almost none the excitement of the real thing.

Bringing more immersion to the Gran Turismo experience is probably what Kaz is pointing at. I don't think he'll bring motion blur or anything like that during driving, but I'm sure something will come that makes us feel the excitement when we buy/win a car or win a race.

I don't know, go online? :sly:
No, I'm just kidding.

As some other people have said, I think he wants each AI to have a personality. For example, S.Giga might have worked at McSpazzy Supermarket.

Classic

My unofficial opinion sways with you. My first thought was a more intuitive AI in the form of BSPEC.

Typical Kaz with his vagueness  . To be honest I have no idea what he means by "human drama" for GT6 but I think it means that GT6 will be unpredictable and you will have to plan out your every move very carefully in order to succeed in the game.

I think he refers to the sensation that players may get from playing the game. He wants us to feel the drama he, the GT Academy winners and every other racing driver have experienced first hand. I don't think it's a feature other than a great enhancement of a racing experience which involves AI, physics, sounds and visuals combined with a proper campaign. GT needs to focus on improving its core and not add new features on top of those which do not perform adequately. They must be aware of this after the lesson that was GT5.

Human drama?

When will Polyphony learn that until you get the fundamentals right (tire model, AI, Career mode, no standard cars/tracks, livery editor, paint preview, car sounds, more cars on track, qualifying/practice/race weekend etc) all these gimmicks are pointless?

Also, memo to Kaz - If you'd like to avoid another GT5 hype-train disaster, lay off the vague comments perhaps?

GT5 is still a human drama!
Why develop another one?

Please go back to the roots and produce a proper racing simulation.
Let EA make the RPG-racing games……..

I still think it's to do with experiencing all of what it is to be a race driver from preparation to victory lane or not.

But taken a bit further.

"Human drama" is quite a popular word these days in Japan. It can mean pretty much anything involving emotions and feelings. In the world of GT6 it will probably mean you will be able to swear at your bobs, or at the AI in front of you:sly:

maybe GT racing comes alive, this far tracks are very dead, all races are the same with start from behind, no AI crashing, no flags or people on track (only spectators), and car damage for no reason! All this should add human drama and every race would be different and memorable...

Empty talk.

It suggests GT6 doing something more; more than just having cars, tracks, and a physics engine. Considering how lacking GT5 was, in terms of utterly failing to go beyond checking off the minimum requirements of being a racing game, I just don't expect GT6 to offer much revolution.

If we look at Darwinian evolution of species as an illustration to the racing genre, with games of the early 1980s being single-celled organisms, games like Forza represents having evolved to humans, while Gran Turismo is just starting to crawl out of the sea. I don't expect it to suddenly leap to space exploration. GT needs to start walking upright, developing hands with opposable thumbs, and the intellectual ability to fashion crude stone-age tools first.

Disaster to who? You? The GTPlanet minority?

GT5 has sold close to 7.8 million copies in less than 2 years and plenty of people are happy with it!

That does not automatically mean that there are no issues with GT5.

I think the phrase human drama might be subject to translation issues. It can easily happen.

No, but it also doesn't mean that a game cannot be appreciated even with it's flaws. Me, and a whole host of the majority (At least, I think!) enjoy the game from time to time.

I'm not sure what Kaz means when he says 'human drama', but maybe he's talking about giving the game more personal drivers, etc

Did anyone here play (TOCA) Race Driver (Not GRID was before, came out in 2002) for Xbox? This sounds cool if its along those lines...GRID tried to carry this same idea but it kinda failed.

I added this to the OP. Please keep in mind:

This thread is not an opportunity to extrapolate wildly and post your own personal wish list. Be real folks. Human drama /=/ GT6 is a PS4 game.
