Currently sitting at 2:16.424 in 239th place. Still developing a new tune (since Adrenaline is claiming my older work:lol:) and will post it when finnished. I'll make sure I copywrite this one.

Believe it or not, I used a custom tune for my WRS result. It's long gone by now, but regardless I can tell just by looking at your tune, that there's no way I'd use it even as a baseline. Nothing to do with your tuning specifically, just that I know it doesn't follow my personal methods, and doesn't appear to be 2.10 compliant. Look forward to the new tune though! Might go run a lap or two myself right now... I don't like Spa though :(

The answer to the following question is most likely: "In the Tuning subforum.", but I'll ask just in case.

If I wanted to ask advice for tuning a car for Tsukuba for this event, would I ask in this topic or in the Tuning subforum?

I'd start here, as there are probably more people here with most recent experience with the car/track you're requesting. And because tuners lurk here.

Edit: I suck at Spa, in 30 minutes of testing, I literally only ran 1 clean lap. 2:16 something. Maybe once someone posts an awesome tune I'll go back. But Dalone, Rat and Alan feel free to whoop up on me this week!

If you send me an FR I've got an RX-7 on share.👍👍
If your looking for a tune for a specific car start by seeing what tunes are already available using Adrenaline's site.
For the Miata that seems to be the current favorite I believe Motor City Hami has a tune for it from the 380PP Roadster seasonal that would make a good base.
Otherwise I'm sure many on here will be happy to give advice on how to improve what you've already got, myself included.:gtplanet::gtpflag:

I've found two cars that I would like to tune for this. I have no idea how well they might turn out, but I know that I can get a Gold time with both without tuning them.

Since I don't know what I'm doing as far as tuning goes, I'll concentrate on just one here. The Audi Quattro '82.

It's stable, but I'm not getting out of it everything that I should.

Post oil change, but pre-engine rebuild, it sits at 399 PP.

It, in my opinion, has an understeer problem. Not knowing much about it, I changed the Spring Rate only to 8.0/8.5 from 8.8/7.0. I touched no other Suspension settings. It turns a little better, but I can tell that it's far from optimal for this car/track.

The car can get up to speed, but it doesn't have a lot of pick up. I think it's just a matter of getting the power out quickly. Would the "tranny trick" work for this? I obviously don't need to get the car up to 125 mph, so a shorter gearbox would be better.

I bought both of the Differentials. I don't know if the TSCD is needed or not. I've seen some people say no, some say yes. I think it depends on the car and what you're using it for. I have no idea how to set either.

I guess what I need is just a place to start. What can I do to any of the Suspension, Transmission, Drivetrain stuff to get me headed in the right direction?

Edited to add: XDesperado67, I may send you a FR anyway, but I'm not looking for something to get Gold with right now. I have managed it in two cars already, but I may try out some of your cars for fun sometime. I used one of your tunes the other day, actually. Possibly one that I needed for the British Lightweight, maybe an Evora or Esprit V8. I can't remember for sure.

Right now, I just thought I'd take a little time to learn some of the basics about tuning. I found a couple of cars that are "not too bad" and I thought I'd see if I could make them a little better.

Oh... you're not looking for advice, you're looking for a full on guide on how to tune. For that, I recommend the stickies in the Tuning Forum, maybe Motor City Hami's or CSL's OP in their thread, which explains their tuning theories or process.

I will check those out then. Could you answer a couple of the minor questions? Just kinda looking for yes or no on them.

Should I do the engine rebuild and lower the PP or leave it as is at just under?
Do you think the TSCD is needed or should I remove it for this car/track?

I'll seek out the rest by doing some studying.

@Ivan just put an Audi Quattro on share.
Rather rough tune on my part since it was a quick job. Best I could manage with it was a 1:11.669.
Car might get into the 1:10.XXX with better driver but it just lacks the power to make effective use of it's grip on this track.
Give it a try and see what you think.

Note I tend to like throwing 4wd cars into corners and letting the front help pull them through. On the tighter corners you need a rather aggressive entry or the car won't rotate quick enough.

Personally... I'd test the 4 existing tunes, takes notes of how each one performs in your hands. Then at the end of the 4 tests, see if you can find corresponding settings that favor your driving style.

First off-Glad to hear you're well Cargorat/Mitch 👍

While every1 else is perfecting their tunes I thought I'd bang an early 1 in!
I'm by no means a 'tuner' but this was good enough for a 'rough' 2.13.800.

I ran my slightly faster time with 100kg ballast@50 to give a 52/48 weight split.
But found this 51/49 helped car turn in a bit better

Good luck people. :)

P.S. transmission is reset to default, final all the way to the left, set gears as per then adjust final again 👍

Thanks for sharing, did just a few(3) runs tonight and got a 2:17:164 with a messy lap. Easy to over drive these cars in the slower corners. I love Spa TT's.

XDesperado: I took it for a spin and found it to handle just the way that you said. I got a slightly slower time, but a 10th or two without being used to a setup isn't too bad.

I've been playing around with the settings on mine while reading Motor City Hami's guide. I got mine to take the small/tighter corners better, but yours takes the long curve before the straight better. If it's okay, I'm going to send you a PM after I figure out what is different about our setups.

Adrenaline: I am doing a bit of that. I know, though, from past experience that tunes I've tried to adapt to a lower PP range don't always work out. That could be my fault though, admittedly. :)

@Ivan feel free to pm me any time.👍👍
V2:10 has made pretty much any car except for the affected FR cars non competitive for this TT. You can gold the event with a large number of cars and different drivetrains, but if your looking to post the best time possible you'll need a FR. Even with the extra wheelspin and grip issues the FR cars have, their much higher power gives them a lot quicker acceleration and higher top speed which equates to quicker lap times. If the Quattro had the same 300 or so HP as my RX-7 it would be the much quicker car because of its grip and ability to get the power to the ground without spinning the tires unduly.

I have tried and tried to get the transmission settings but I can't come close. Someone care to dumb this process down for me?

Numbnuts;

""P.S. transmission is reset to default, final all the way to the left, set gears as per then adjust final again.""

Is that correct, or should final be set 'all the way to the right' first? Curious.

Hi All,

Can I ask if some one can give this tune a go and let me know what you think? I'm mainly interested in feedback in the gearing. Most of the suspension settings are default. It feels nice to drive but can never stick the whole lap would like to see what some else can do.

I have done a 2:16.0xx with it, but have been a second faster but made a mistake.

Anyone try the 240 RS on this TT? I was able to get it to 234 hp / 882kg but it has zero traction on these tires, still a 1:10. Anyone have a tune for this car?

Hey desperado I got a 1.09.4xx with your car mate it can defo get a 1.08.xxx if your brave with the car
Thanks for the test...think it needs a few more tweaks before I publish the tune though.
To tired to work on it tonight, hope I can get back to it tomorrow.

Hey ALL
Will put car on loan today, only changed ballast, spring, shock and trans. currently enough for 10#
New online ID is Oeg_cross
The car gives you wings 👍:scared::dopey:

A few people have compared a NASCAR to the Corvette's from TT 54 and found the NASCAR more difficult to handle.

I found it the opposite, maybe because the Corvette is so much lighter and quicker.

Although at close of TT54 I was still just 3.5 secs off the alien times yet here, after only a day, I find myself about 6 sec's from the top (2:18.8), mostly thanks to Numbnuts tune.

Of course a much faster time is just a super fast tune away.........................ha ha.

I had a go last night in a stock car that I won and it fell abit crap lol need to put a tune on it and give it a real go :-)

I've just realised the final should be all the way to the right i.e 5.000.

Apologies fellas. 👍

Glad that was sorted out.

Seems there are a number of ways of doing it though. I seem to recall Stotty's tune last race calling for the max speed to min, then set gears, then set final.

I haven't checked it though.

Now I have, looked through 20 pages of TT54 to find it.
