Lot of racing on tv today watching Indy cars now then Rolex series. So ill be in d1 to practice after that straight to race time in d5.

Dga, you don't get demoted from complaints fella. Division placement isn't a popularity contest.

Rally is right. Division placement isn't a popularity contest. If it was, kcheeb must not like himself very much because relegated himself to D3. :dunce:

Rather than a popularity contest, it's a this contest. Be sure to also scroll down to the bottom where all the colorful ranking are. We consider total points in a month along with how drivers within a division measure up against each other in some very key criteria. Then we take into consideration how many active drivers are in each division and we do our best to provide equally sized grids in all five divisions. For a better explanation of this grueling (and thankless) process, click here.

We try to be as transparent as possible about this process because kcheeb and I always seem to get at least one hate PM from a disgruntled driver who just got relegated. However, if you use the same steps as we do and feel that we made a mistake, please let us know so that we can take a look to see if we overlooked something.

Could of at least dumped some d1s that never show up
I've only missed 1 race in 1 year cause some lame ass tryed breaking I to my car

As I mentioned above, we try to balance the grids sizes. The very first thing we do when we start the promotion and relegation process is to determine who is currently active and who is not. In other words, we try to figure out who's going to racing in the upcoming month. The D1 guys that never show up are marked as inactive and they don't count towards the expected grid sizes anyways. There simply isn't a point in relegating a driver that's inactive because that would serve no purpose in balancing that grid sizes.

Dgaf... get serious boy... you wont lose anything by droping down a division. Think of all D3, D4 and D5 boyz that would love to be where u are right now

I really hate this attitude that D1 is dirty. I've raced in D1 since my second week with SNAIL and have been wrecked only a few times in all those months. I find it to be clean but aggressive.

I wouldn't even come close to saying that D1 is dirty. I will say that there is probably a greater gap from the top of the field to the bottom of the field in D1 than in any other division, especially D2, D3, and D4. It's just the way the talent curve works. There are going to be more guys in the middle that are very close to one another than there are guys that are close to the fastest of the fast or the slowest of the slow for that matter. When you have a wider gap in skill level, you have different closing speeds, different braking points and when you have these things, you have drivers in bad positions and you get racing incidents.

I'm not sure who said D1 is dirty. I read back several pages and couldn't find it. Wierd.

I commented factually on my experience where I have been taken out in exactly half of the last 12 races I raced in D1.

Do I feel there may be a dirty driver or two in D1? In my opinion....yes. Is the division as a whole dirty? Of course not.

I do find it odd that certain drivers get awfully defensive in the forum awfully quick though.

What I find interesting is that before you came to D1 no one complained on the forums about the driving in D1. Also I looked and saw that you only filed 4 complaints for the month having to do with yourself and only 2 of them were found to be penalty worthy. You may not say the word dirty but everyone knows what you're saying.

Alright folks, as we all sit here anxiously awaiting tonights racing, I thought I'd throw some good natured racecraft tips out there for NASCAR and the Eider FR-S combos.

For NASCAR, as you are drafting and moving around the track keep in mind the speeds you are traveling. If you come bump up out of the draft for whatever reason, do not expect the guy behind you to leave that spot open for you. you go up and lose the draft and drop 1-5 MPH almost instantly, while the guy behind you no longer has a bumper slowing them down and will jump up the same amount, especially if they has someone drafting them. If you then come down thinking your spot is clear, well, its a safe bet you just ruined both of your guys nights. Instead, stay high until you can safely return back to the draft train, you may lose a spot or two, but you will at least still be in the race.
For Eiger. Keep situational awareness here folks, especially at the switchbacks. This is the easiest place to get yourself in trouble for divebombing. Do well to remember how much overlap is required to make a pass. Just because someone took a higher line then you does not give you the right to try a pass. On that same note, if you jacked up your braking point, lock up the tires and careen towards the wall, expect the racer behind you to capitalize. This is especially true for corners 1 and 3, which are the first switch back after the jump and the third after that short straight. If this happens, its best that you stay high through the corner, and the person attempting the pass stay low, then as you prepare for either corner 2, or 4, the passee should then have the inside line, and the passer keep to the outside.
Here is an example of what I mean

With a little respect for each other, Eiger can make for some intense battles. Just remember, this track is short and tight, so don't expect to gooble up 5 positions in a single bound, or even for the whole race. This isnt that kind of track.

Lets keep tonights racing clean and enjoyable everyone!

kcheeb, send me a friend request for division 5 since i been relegated to that division. Freed up my friends list so you should be able to add me.

Thanks for the opportunity to run in D1 guys 👍, I've raced with some of yall before on Wednesdays and the first impression I got was wow Worst Driver is REALLY FAST I don't expect to start winning here at least until I get a wheel.:sly: I hope I can take my driving to a new level after turning alot of laps with yall. Thanks guys.

:cheers: Awesome tips Rally. I just hope that everyone not only understands this but also apply it during racing. Between blocking and sticking your nose to someone, all this goes up in smoke in a heart beat!

Unfortunately, after watching all of the replay from the race that was taken from, Im going to have to agree. I'm really hoping this wont be the case, but the whole reason I decided to post this is that those switchback were a point of contention more then a few times, and we had maybe 6 people on the grid that night. The first major issue happened on lap two, someone thought they had the right to jump on the inside because someone started their turn in further out then the other. This is what we call a divebomb, and the person who shot up the inside will be penalized for it. The second incident, someone lost traction from making an error in their brake point and went outside, the driver behind then took advantage and took the inside line cleanly, just to have the guy whom lost traction slam them into the wall on the inside. after that, it seemed that their frustration levels got the better of them two of them proceed to beat up on each other, often involving a third racer in their melee.
First off, if you know who you are, listen the advise I just gave.
Second, don't post a retort, rebuttal or affirmation on this thread. As the saying goes, if the shoe fits.. Take what I said for what its worth, and drive on.
Lastly, I know we were just doing fun runs and practice type stuff, but as another racer can attest, if you think its ok to retaliate on track for an incident, or to smash through another driver to get to someone else, your time with SNAIL will be extremely short, don't bring that crap to our weekly events, practices or random races we do, and certainly don't bring that to a Sunday night event. This is SNAIL, not an open lobby.

Boundary Rule Update
The track boundary is defined as either the edge of the track where pavement turns to grass or a curb where there is one. If there is a wall that pavement goes up to unless there is a curb before the wall the wall will act as the edge of the track. For example Deep Forest where the extra pavement is before the tunnel the curb will count as the edge of the track as there's a curb before the wall, however at Trial Mountain reverse there is no curb before the wall in the first chicane so the wall is the edge of the track. White lines will no longer be the edge of the track. As always two wheels must remain on the track at all times.

I'm not complaining about being regulated, but I think I should point out that I've been practicing like crazy this week trying to make up for lost time and I'm pretty sure I'm better now than I was before I got sick.

Just a friendly reminder that the GranStand Challenge begins TONIGHT!! Although the points system is listed here, I'd like to provide helpful tips for anyone who wants to have a shot at winning the prize.

First of all, you'll want to make as many Sunday nights as possible since the more you race, the more GranStand points you'll receive. However, that doesn't mean you have to make every Sunday night. We all know real life gets in the racing sometimes. In fact, in the previous three month period (January through March) there were only two drivers in the entire league that were on the grid for every single race (shout out to ExoSphere64 and Wolfsatz )

The second tip is to drive as clean as possible. Don't try to make room where there isn't and respect everyone's position on the track as you would want them to respect yours. Penalties will play a critical role in who has the most GranStand points at the end of June. Don't let one small penalty be the difference between "making the cut" and not even being eligible to win the prize.

The last tip is to remember that discussing incidents on this thread is frowned upon. In fact, every time someone discusses a racing incident on this thread, they will be docked GranStand points. The amount of GranStand points they lose will be based on how egregious the violation is, but I guarantee you that even the smallest infraction will cost the violator at least one GranStand point. The better way to address a race incident is our tried and true complaint process.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: ALL FIVE DIVISIONS IN THIS LEAGUE RACE UNDER THE GUIDELINES OF THE S.N.A.I.L. OLR. ANY NOTION, IMPRESSION, OR BELIEF THAT ANY DIVISION RACES BY A DIFFERENT SET OF RULES IS LAUGHABLE. THERE IS NOTHING THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED POOR RACECRAFT IN ANY DIVISION THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ACCEPTABLE IN ANOTHER DIVISION. IN CASE IT WASN'T ALREADY OBVIOUS, THIS MESSAGE IS DIRECTED AT DIVISION 1. IT'S YOUR RIGHT AND YOUR DUTY TO PROTECT THE GOOD RACECRAFT IN YOUR DIVISION... SO PLEASE DO IT!

I'm curious now...who are the dirty drivers in D1? If you aren't brave enough to confront those drivers about their tactics then you probably shouldn't accuse them of being dirty drivers.

Just want to wish all my fellow racers tonight good luck, especially D4 since they won't have me directing for time being due to my relegation. Though I imagine I'll be back in a season or too. It's also really good I checked in as I've been away all weekend seeing Philly, and more importantly Fleetwood Mac last night(most amazing concert ever!!!). I did see some really cool cars too, but for now I'll leave you all with what was probably the highlight of all the cars I saw.
