So a while back, when I was 16 or 17 maybe, I noticed the BMW e30 as a potentially really cool car; I was at the age where considering a real car for myself to own and drive and tune and race became more and more real. Before this, I had only really considered an S13 240SX, because I, together with a close friend of mine, had just discovered the great little bit of affordable RWD market that this Nissan occupied. Having this great friend of mine to discuss cars with was a great outlet for me, as we couldn't really talk about our shared passion with anyone else at the time. Our paths split in many ways. Once he graduated, he climbed the mechanics' ranks and now is works full-time at a Honda shop, part times as a mechanic for some rich dude's C5 racecar on weekends and tracks his own R32 GT-R. I've gone a different route, pursuing my dream as a car designer, studying 500 miles away from home, hemorrhaging expenses, with not even a bus pass to call my transportation.

Times have passed, we're still good buddies and all, and he's coming here to see the local auto show this weekend. This coincided with a pretty sweet thread I found on VWVortex about e30s. The coming of my friend may have also rekindled my desire for an e30, as now I've got the itch to own a car really soon. My driver's license has expired, but that won't stop me from getting another and looking around for a clean 318is. I know it would be a stupid purchase and I could use the money way better elsewhere, but the dream is still there.

In short, here is a pile of e30 pictures I've collected in the last couple of days. Blackbird, I know you've caught a similar disease, so contribute here! The rest of you also, add your own BMW pictures that you've found! Try to keep the shots tasteful or somehow stylistically significantly!

Missing the valences, but still looks extremely badass. Such nice photography. The colour of the car is perfect chrome orange too! This has been my desktop for a while.

I don't mind the 4-doors or the Tourings either!

I'm not crazy about M3s. I know and love them as one of the best sportscars ever, but they're too unattainable for such an attainable car.

Don't know if it's the red tails or the cleaned up valences, but this is a strangely cool one:

Please excuse the slightly random and pointless nature of this, I'll admit I'm kinda tipsy.

This is now officially the best thread on GTP ever. 👍

Just today, as I was driving home from school, I decided that for as long as I live, I will always own at least one E30. I feel like my car is a perfect fit for me, so much so that I would seriously hesitate to accept the offer of, say, a free McLaren F1 if the deal was for me to give up my 318i and only ever drive the F1.

There's just something about E30s that no other car can compare to. BMW struck gold when they designed that chassis.

Oh, by the way, an E34 touring snuck into your picture line-up. ;)

E30's Rule.

I kinda forgot how much I like non-M's... It would suffice to say that I now remember.

(E30 M3! My attainable dream car!)

Wolfe is a very wise man. I second his motion. You'd get 10,000 +rep points if they still existed.

Yes. I just used the infernal GT4 noob smiley. Exigeracer, I think you're the new best friend of many people. :dopey:

Thanks for the love :P. I don't yet visit BMW boards to upkeep this thread like my 111 page, but I'll try :)

And I was thinking that someone was just being trendy and swapping OEM wheels between model platforms. It also happens to be at at such a close angle to be rather indistinguishable to the passing eye! I'm still leaving it :P

I just wish I had the money to make mine nicer, like some of the ones you posted, exigeracer...

Wolfy, I miss the roofrack!

I think me and my brother are the only ones who think they add awesomeness to nice cars. 👍
I know, I liked the quirky uniqueness to it, but I literally never used them for anything, and people asking why I had them got a bit old. I like the sleeker look my car has now, and I'd have to anyway, because I lent the racks to a former friend and haven't seen them since.

The funny thing is that after I took them off, my top speed improved by nearly 10mph.

Wow. I just love the E30s. Like everybody else said, the E30 M3 is that most attainable dream car of mine. Either that or a 2002 Turbo would be nice.

I felt my heart start fluttering as soon as I saw that pic.

Why oh why aren't there any E30 Tourings in the US? Stupid government! the Canadians get them but Americans aren't worthy of the awesomeness. :irked:

I'd love an E30 for a track toy, but unfortunately they are getting snapped up quickly and prices are quite high in the States because a lot of people are realizing what a bargain they were about 3-4 years ago. Now they are no longer bargains, and you can often find E36s with fewer miles going for less money.

Sorry if i'm ruining the thread, but E21 anyone???

Not at all, but like I said, try to cut down the shots to the interesting ones. Pictures of the spare tire and the medium-condition seats are kinda pointless, but there's definitely some neat ones there.

Oh,sorry for that,i just copied most of them from one E21 thread on one Croatian forum.

I personally like the spare wheel picture,it shows the car is really in good condition.

Okay, there are officially too many pictures on one page in this thread. It's not slowing the internet...it's bogging the computer. The ol' DSL is loading more info than the computer would like to accept. No more pics, plz. Not until the next page. Maybe even move some to the next page.

Awesome thread!

Id love to own any of those E30's! Pure awesome!

To bad BMW's are over priced here in Australia :(

Not at all, I drive a Seat Toledo 1.6RS.

It's not hatred at all I love BMW's. Much more than Mercs. Just wanted to post those to show dumbass people driving those beauties.

Level-headed enthusiasts have always been the best source for an E30, just like how know-nothing non-enthusiasts have always asked way too much simply because it's a BMW. :) Some guy around here was expecting $4500 for a mediocre-condition '86 eta.

As for them being more expensive than E36s, no offense to E36 fans, but I believe the E30 is simply a better car. Maybe not as fast, but definitely better-built.

Here are some more E30s:
