Fanatec 911 Turbo retail wheel

I got mine now and installed it. Kind of super mega annoying there is some issue with the drivers I didn´t have with the beta wheel so I haven´t been able to do more then dry sim it. But so far I am pretty damn impressed with the improvements they made. I can´t say much about the wheel more then it smells fantastic and looks the same from the outside no difference here from what I can tell. It smells like a new car smells when you buy it 
. But the pedals is like night and day. Awesome feel on the brake and I do like the feel on the clutch as well. the throttle is maybe a bit light still but it works. The pedals really have their own feel no generic feel like the G25 pedals for example. The pedals doesn´t quirk at all now which also helps a lot. May sound silly but you don´t want to hear the plastic quirk and such it doesn´t bring confidence. Overall the QA and manufacturing seems tied up. The shifter as well doesn´t look used. It´s still plastic of course and it´s design doesn´t win any beauty contest to the G25 shifter for example but feels better for me. The resistance is slightly less I feel from the beta shifter and more even across the gears. No more fighting like a mad man to get into fifth gear. The mounting method is still the same I would recommend people that is going to use the H-shifter to get the shifter holder for sure. It wobbles to much for my taste whereas I find that doesn´t matter much for the sequential shifter. However would still be a big plus to have it wherever you want it so I will probably get that even though I will use the sst lightning shifter when able of course.
But to get back to the pedals. The brake pedal is really stiff. Not as stiff as my nixim progressive brake med modded G25 pedals of course but still. I am amazed how much the steel plate and the included mat helps stability. I was so eager packing it up at first I didn´t even notice the steel plate and I got quite disappointed with the light weight of the pedals and how they tap over like crazy every time I tried to shift while not at the same time holding the pedals down with my other foot.
But with the steel plate I am amazed I can push the pedals all the way as hard as I can and they don´t move a millimetre even! As mentioned the brake pedal is stiff but not stiff like in you have to use all the force you can use to get into full brakes like my nixim progressive brake modded G25s. They are stiffer then the default G25 if my memory doesn´t fails me. The throw is a bit shorter here too for the brake which I preferr. with the nixim progressive brake mod I loose 50 % of the travel and I honestly think it´s better this way. For my legs the perfect balance between feel and usability for everyday use. How they will hold up only time will tell though but there is absolutely nothing to complain about the feel. As always the springs do get looser with times very apparent on my G25 for example. The clutch is now much stiffer then the throttle and they was exactly the same. Brake has gone a lot softer there as well so. But clutch and brake have a much better feel then the G25 ever had by default. Throttle I liked the G25 since it had a little bit more resistance even though by now it´s almost the same on both.
But how they hold up not developing deadzones and such is just as important as feel. Can´t say anything about that but the G25 pedals really set a high standard here so I do doubt these pedals will beat the G25 pedals in an endurance contest. But really with the beta wheel I hardly used the fanatec 911 pedals because they just wasn´t good enough compared to the G25 now I am quite unsure which I will go with mostly. I will of course now use the 911 wheel almost exclusively to try them out especially since I doesn´t have a cockpit yet. And well to fully utilize the nixim modded G25 pedals you must have a cockpit so you can mount the pedals firmly.
But really so far except for the drivers it really feels like a solid unit now without any real weak spots

I am in a bit of a hurry but I got it working in 64-bit Vista now. A bit of a hazzle with disabling digital signature before booting and dual reboots but works nicely now.
I haven´t been able to run it much more a little in the GRID demo. Not the best racing game to try out a wheel on but force feedback works even though it seems to be recognized as a gamepad? It enables a 20 % deadzone by default. But with tweaking it works quite well here too.
I have checked it with dxtweak a bit I do notice that there is slight deadzones in the beginning and the end of the travel on the pedals. Hard to say what the equivalent would be maybe a 1-2 % deadzone? Not much to write home about but I am spoiled with the 0,0 deadzones on my G25 in both the beginning and end of the travels here.
As for force feedback GRIDs force feedback is more advanced rumble effects but for sure I think the 911 wheel feels better both in hand and in force feedback. Particularly because it feels better when no force feedback is applied. Even though with the extremely sensitive steering the G25 is easier to work then this. the force feedback is so strong I tone it down to 33 % on the wheel and 50 % in the GRID ffb strength options.
I am happy to see I have yet to find any wandering on my centering position. The soft stops is slightly wrong sometimes. I run 200 degrees and the soft stop enables at 196 to the left and 204 to the right. Doesn´t really matter for real time use of course.
But I don´t get the jumps from say 180 to 200 points left like before. So it seems they are being true to the promise this issue is gone. And as mentioned it centers correctly from the little I have been tested. Need more time.
One thing I notice is that 180 is the lowest lock I can get. It´s a bit of a handicap in some arcade titles like GRID. I use 130 degrees on my G25 here for example and 70 % in sega Rally Revo. But this is probably just a software issue I hope.
But really I love how the pedal feel as well as the wheel. It feels just as good as with the beta wheel.

I have got one problem want to check if anyone noticed similar behaviour. I got some issues with the sequential shifter that all of a sudden it started to double shift up or down, don´t shift at all, go directly to 1 etc. It then went away.
Then I did a race at Race 07 and ran for a good hour with no misshap whatsoever then all of a sudden the same again. When I restarted race it all worked as it should again. If it was a bad sequential shifter you would think it would stay bad so must be some driver issue or something? I have had this both in vista 64-bit and XP.
I guess it could be since the shifters move around a bit when you shift that the connections got loose but I checked and didn´t see that and I didn´t refit the cable after testing it again later on.
Another annoying thing so the centering spring always on function is fixed for race 07 it´s still there for rFactor.

To the point I get irritated when I have to run with the G25 because I don´t like the feel of it anymore and I guess feel is the most important thing to me. I am definiatly not faster with the fanatec wheel the G25 is very precise as well and easier to work with it´s weaker force feedback and little resistance.
I would definiatly recommend the 911 wheel though it´s a bit more expensive for sure but make racing more immersive and fun.

I have finally received mine last week in Hong Kong. The wheel has been awesome, the whole package seems to satisfy my appetite for sim racing. Me and my friend, who owned a G25, has been playing and testing on the wheel and we both agreed that the 911 wheel brings more realism to GT5P. However, does anyone know how to activate the clutch in GT5P with the 911 wheel? It seems I don't need to press the clutch to switch gears with the H pattern stick. Anyone?
