So Autobacs had a change of mind after originally announcing they were dropping sponsorship of the series? Well, methinks that's a pleasant surprise. :)
2009 Autobacs SuperGT Schedule
Round 1: March 22nd & 23rd - Okayama International Circuit (300km)
Round 2: April 18th & 19th - Suzuka Circuit (300km)
Round 3: May 3rd & 4th - Fuji Speedway (400km)
Round 4: June 20th & 21st - Sepang Circuit (300km)
Round 5: July 25th & 26th - Sportsland SUGO (300km)
Round 6: August 22nd & 23rd - Suzuka Circuit (700km)
Round 7: September 12th & 13th - Fuji Speedway (300km)
Round 8: October 17th & 18th - Autopolis (300km)
Round 9: November 7th & 8th - Twin Ring Motegi (250km)
Looks like the famous GT300 Hatusune Miku BMW Z4 Itasha that competed in the last few rounds of 2008 will be back for the full 2009 season, and with lots of support as well! :D [Story] She wasn't the only Vocaloid to have taken some laps around the track though. :D [Picture on the left side of the 11th row] It so happens the team of that car won the GT300 Class title last year. ;) And I bet that was a pleasant surprise for the people on the bus that was taking a lap of the track that day.:sly:

Have you tried Keyhole TV or Livestation?

Even though Speed had coverage of the Japanese GP, I watched Qualifying on Keyhole TV. Which is a Japanese TV only. Livestation has ever country stations.👍

Sweet. Need to remember that in three weeks when the season starts! :dopey:

Nissan's 2009 SuperGT plans are now on the English website, which reveals that Hironobu Yasuda will join Ronnie Quintarelli at Hasemi Motor Sport. Yasuda drove for the MOLA team (#46 Fairlady Z), the reigning GT300 champions.

The driver lineups for NISMO (Satoshi Motoyama/Benoit Treluyer), Kondo Racing (Joao Paolo De Oliviera/Seiji Ara), and Impul (Tsugio Matsuda/Sebastien Phillipe) are unchanged.

Super GT with less cars

The League of Japanese Super GT was also affected by the crisis, with only 31 cars confirmed for the first race of 2009 in Okayama (last year there were 42 cars in the entire season).

In the GT500, there is the disappearance of the second Nissan GT-R (NISMO) of the team and Tsuchiya Engineering, one of the Toyota teams.

In the GT300, there is the absence of almost all Porsche (there may be interest in the Asian Le Mans Series), the new BMW Z4 and the usual Subaru Impreza. Also disappeared the two Vemac and the Nissan Fairlady.

In contrast is the impressive debut of the Toyota Corolla's APR.

That's a bummer dude. Escpecially for the drivers that are rideless. I still can't wait. It's going to be another exciting year despite the lack of 11 cars.

ARTA announced their 2009 season plans for this year.

Ex-F1 driver Ralph Firman and Takuya Izawa will remain in the #8 NSX, which now has 40% less downforce.

Morio Nitta and Shinichi Takagi will remain in the #43 Garaiya.

Yuji Ide (#100 Kunimitsu NSX, former Super Aguri driver), Kodai Tsukakoshi (#17 Real NSX), and Tetsuya Tanaka (JIM GAINER Ferrari) will be "ARTA-supported drivers.

And Keiichi Tsuchiya joins the team as an advisor, possibly confirming that the Lexus Team Tsuchiya is no more.

No Cusco Impreza!! very sad news. But I'm liking the inclusion of the Z4 :D

And I think the NSX teams are going to be hurt with that much reduction in downforce, Honda arent going to be happy with that. Nice paint schemes for ARTA though. My favourite so far has to be the Rockstar sponsored Dome NSX, thats a very nice livery!!

wow thanks for giving me those sites. ive tried seraching before on watching live TV from other countries but i always end up finding sites that dont have the stations im looking for (mainly motors TV in europe) thats an awesome find and if i could give kudos on the forum i would 👍

Speaking of NSX's, forgot to mention that Nakajima Racing (#32 NSX) has a change in the lineup - Loic Duval will stay, but 21-year-old rookie Yuhki Nakayama, who spent last year in Japan Formula 3, will also share driving duties in the Epson NSX.

Keyhole TV won't work for me since I run OS X, and LiveStation does not carry the J SPORTS channel which broadcasts races live - yet.

"New Regulations". Apparently the GTA was going to ban mid-engined cars in the GT500 class as well, but it appears as if the NSX has a grandfather clause of some sort. I'm not so sure.

One team that doesn't have to worry about less downforce is Team Daishin, who confirmed today that they will switch from running a Nissan Fairlady Z to a Ferrari F430 in GT300! (link goes to a PDF, Japanese text only)

I also added the (unofficial) team list for GT500, and reorganized the top post. Because of the many, many entries in GT300, it will take me a while to add that.

Thanks blinky!

An Aston Martin DBR9 in GT500!!

I'll be very interested to see how that goes especially after the Goh Maserati's lack of speed which caused it to be withdrawn several years ago.

I would assume that the DBR9 will suffer the same fate as the Maser. The restrictions on the FIA cars are pretty... ehm, restrictive! They aren´t allowed to run on the same downforcelevels either, so they are pretty much lost from the start.
Maybe I´m talking gibberish, they could have changed the rules!

No, they are still racin'! Look at the Okayama entry list, they're still there.

I'm hoping it doesn't suffer the same fate as the Maserati. If its fast down the Straight and doesn't lose time in the corners, then it could be very competitive.

Interesting, where would I find that? Is there a link you can show me?

That was the main problem for the Maserati IIRC, fast on the straights, but couldn´t hold a candle against the massive downforce GT500 cars. However, the MC12 is restricted in its downforce, even in the FIA GT, so maybe the DBR9 is more able.

Ermmmm, yes?

The car is owned by the Awesomeness that is Hitsoyama (And i know that is spelled wrong) Racing. They raced the F1 GTR in JGTC GT5000 in the past. This means they might race it in the Asian Le Mans Series too!

Hello and thank you for pointing out livestation.

The race is in 2 days and I'd like to watch it. Do you know what channels to search for or which channel specifically that it will air on?

Keyhole fails to connect but I assume that's a network issue I'll resolve later.

Looking forward to a good season!

Judging by that picture, looks like it might be more Asian Le Mans series bound then it is Super GT bound. I don't see it competing with the other GT00 cars in that form.

Just 15 more hours to go. Anybody going to watch? Where and what channel?

I live in the USA and Super GT is not on any TV stations here. SPEED used to air JGTC back in the day, but only after the season was over and only the 'highlights' of the race.

I have no idea what Keyhole TV or Livestation are, but will do a Google search.

EDIT: Keyhole TV

BUMP

Qualifying results for the first race, which should start in about 13 hours from right now (9:00AM PTZ) and that means the race is on at 10:00PM PTZ. I hope I remember to check KeyHole TV, which I downloaded last night, at 10:00PM later tonight. There doesn't seem to be enough channels, but I'm hoping one will air the race.

@Solid Lifters: I'll be there right with you brother, clicking through channels on Keyhole TV, hoping to find the right one. lol

Try this link series to search for the channel once you get it on keyhole because keyhole has pretty poor quality in comparison.

http://www.tvchannelsfree.com/watch/5720/TV-Tokyo.html

TV Tokyo - now that's some high quality programming, I'll tell you. lol

If you find the channel up it here. I'll do the same. Good luck!
