Despite how good some of the excitement at the sharp end of the grid has been, the gap between 4th and 5th in the constructors championship is quite staggering; 374pts separate Mercedes in 4th (468pts) and Aston Martin in 5th (94ts).* The front eight completely dominated this year with their own order within that clique fluctuating. It was nice to see Haas and Alpine fight for more points, more often, towards the end of the season but Aston Martin were left floundering in purgatory after the third race of the season with little to fight for and close to letting those behind catch them.
*In old money, it's roughly the same as Mercedes having 187 points and Aston Martin having 37 points which is like... Williams-Renault to Jordan-Peugeot levels of disparity but now over one position in the midfield.
