As you browse the site, you may notice some staff members carrying a new "Moderator Emeritus" badge. As the word "emeritus" implies, these semi-retired staff members may not be able to spend as much time policing the boards as they used to. Many are still very active on the site, but won't be expected to carry out the additional responsibilities of a full-time moderator. Each of them, of course, may return to their former position at any time, and I will always welcome their experience and expertise. Thank you all, once again, for your help!

I wonder who are the new or incoming moderators.

It's not about new mods coming in. It's about some older mods not partaking in as much responsibilities as newer/more active mods. These 'Emeritus' haven't been as much active now as before, but in no way does it mean new mods will be in since the actual ones handle the site well enough. Since they don't do much in the way of moderating anymore, it's a way of saying thanks for all the years.

Mods I can think of who'll get this badge are boombexus, misnblue, Josh

They are already listed here Tom.:sly:

Everytime I see that list, the number of moderators surprises me. Definitly more moderators than I always expected there were. So, how long untill we can give a nickname to this new category of "Old Geezers" :P

Moderator Emeritus - Congrats to you guys who earned this.

I've got a question concerning Moderators seeing as how we are on the subject of them.

When you click on the Forum Leaders at the bottom of the page all the Mods are listed.Beside their name is a forum and each Mod has 1,2,3,4,or more forums listed beside them, and Pako has just about every forum beside his name .Does this designate that they basically run that particular forum section,or is it a section of special interest to them or is it what Jordan asks them to monitor ? I'm under the impression that the Mods are free to roam anywhere they want to in this site to help keep it up to par. Just being curious as to why each Mod has these beside their name.

I think they are selected based on what forums/sections they are most active in. As far as my experience with running a forum goes they don't have any power outside of those listed sections unless they are a global moderator.

I could be wrong though.

In most cases it works like this: members are first selected in forums they're very comfortable with/in and receive a moderator status for that particular subforum. Then, usually, after a period of time - in which a moderator has gotten more experienced in handling problems (and well, basically moderating) a certain sub-section of the site - they will receive the Super Moderator badge. This allows us to moderate all over the place. In the moderator's list their previous sub-section will still stay listed, but for Super Moderators this doesn't mean they can't be contacted about or deal with issues outside that specific subforum.

[edit]: Actually, there really isn't a problem with contacting a regular moderator about any issue anywhere on the site. Communication between Moderators, Super Moderators and Administrators is very swift. So problems within the site are mostly relayed very quickly amongst staff members.

Also, what Jordan forgot to mention, but I am happy to clarify, is that everyone currently carrying the Emeritus badge is SUPER AWESOME.

It has been a while since I have seen you around actually sir snoopie.

On a different note I can safely say the first moderator I ever saw was Fred. I can remember seeing his avatar and laughing at it over two years ago, being one of the less active mods it seems weird that I saw him before any others like Duke or Famine.

I just hang around the threads in which you reply. :)
