I'd like to post a complaint about Sony's delays for 3-D :P...assuming that the pic of GT5 really does mean it will be in the game. But this is no quoted confirmation and since there is not even a release date they could say 'it may be possible or some garbage'.

I got to visit the Sony booth at CES in January. They had a section for 3D, and GT5 was one of the demos you could play. It was cool and all, but I found it distracting. All though I had the same reaction when I watched Avatar in 3D. The GT5 3D is cool, you can see some depth, but it is mostly the lap-times that pop off the screen. Plus the glasses are a big turn off for me.

Didn't know that, well I won't be buying a 3D TV, sorry Sony!

I certainly won't be buying a 3DTV. I only purchased my 40" Sony V4000 18months ago and yet its an old fossil compared to whats coming.

I have been informed that the Sony 3DTVS will be coming to the UK in June/July and a 46" will cost above £3000! Also GT5 will come in two seperate versions 2D & 3D.

A lot of people give a crap about 3D, face it, no one cared of HD TVs back in 2000's now almost everyone has a HD TV. Same thing with 3D tv, all you need is 120 HZ TV. Usually poeple have 60HZ, in few years all TVs will be 120HZ and faster.. So why not have 3D glasses as well? Will add some depth into the games. Dont be stubborn people.

I will at some stage but not for another few years. We all know new technology comes at a price and within a few yrs the price of 3DTVS will significantly drop.

Not to mention 3DTV's are going to become another fad in a few years.

Hell, it's probably on the way to becoming nearly obsolete at this moment.

Yeah, I might give it a few years to see if it "sticks" :scared:

Me too, and when i'm finally "forced" to upgrade to 3D, Sony and their competitors introduce the first 3D Hologram device whereby you don't even need a screen and after i bought that after 10 years they just introduce a device which transmits the data directly to your brain. ;)

What I need is some 3D clip-on lenses because sliding another pair of glasses over mine is really uncomfortable or even better; give the TV a pair of glasses. It would be better for the buyer because you don't need so many 3D glasses for a whole group to watch a 3D movie.

How else will they make money?

Hehe, that's the way it always goes with hardware!

Check iZ3D out, they have them - but they only work with their own 3D method, and they only have one monitor...

Given that we have already seen GT5 being shown in 3D, how is the thread-worthy? Besides, it confirms nothing beyond what we already know, which is very little. Nothing official has been said about GT5 shipping with full 3D capabilities.

Why do people continue to be closed minded, GT5 in 3D..... To me thats gunna be amazing and whole new feeling of immersion!

The whole interior surrounding you is gunna be a really cool experience.

And people need to get over the glasses... those will become obselete by the end of the year, around the same time the game comes out.

Theres already tvs that don't need glasses, but they are still primitave and require sitting in the "sweet spot".

But hell yea I'm excited, and something I realized when watching avatar in 3d, is that CG feels much more real in 3D, so :)

It's not the glasses which worry me or the fact i might be narrowminded if i doubt it will really catch on.
It's mainly the enormous price tag i'm not willing or even able to pay at this moment.
A lot of things which are expensive and non-essential are amazing and create total immersion, that's why i play GT in the first place as my budget doesn't stretch to buying all those cars IRL.

agreed. :)

except for the catching on, I definatly feel the 3D experience will not be a fad, but more a choice and how someone wants to experience something(that's why the tv's will support 2d and 3d).I say this because the Techonology is there(its not a gimmick anymore) and the rate at which technology is expanding it will only get better.

IMHO video games is probably the best place for 3D as it will only further the immersion that we play video games for.

I don't care for 3d, 3d can go down the toilet.

It will. HDTV caught on is because of the porn industry and the govt demanded all non HD signals be shut down for local stations. I don't see the govt forcing anyone to implement 3D. I also don't see the porn industry standardizing 3d and we all know they control the media format.

I didn't know that!

Still, I can see 3D porn being particularly lucrative, I mean just imagine the sense of immersion... stereoscopic photos are impressive enough!
