19/01/2010 RJN Motorsport develop GT4 version of Nissan 370Z for 2010 season

showimg.php.jpg

RJN Motorsport have developed the Nissan 370Z GT4 Version NISMO race car which will be available for the 2010 season onwards.
This exciting version of the 370Z is fitted with a VQ38 HR engine and a 6 speed manual transmission. The GT-4 car having been developed by RJN with the technical support of NISMO.
"RJN are extremely excited about the development of this Nissan 370Z GT4 car. The car will be built by us to order for customers that wish to be competitive in the growing GT4 category. We feel this appointment is perfect timing for us to build another race winning Nissan following on from the success of our 350Z in GT4". Bob Neville -Team Owner RJN Motorsport.
RJN completed a very successful season in GT4, winning the Teams Championship, and 2nd in the Drivers Championship with Alex Buncombe and Lucas Ordonez. Ordonez is the first virtual to real life racing driver and first winner of the Nissan Playstation GT Academy 2008.
With plans to compete in the 2010 European GT4 Cup, RJN will also support other teams that are competing with the 370Z throughout Europe with parts and technical expertise.

=> I mainly start this thread in the view that the winners of the GT Academy will stop being winners in my view and start being FIA GT4 racers soon.

This is the current GT4 program:
Round Date Country Circuit
1,2 Sunday, May 2nd 2010 [GBR] Great Britain Silverstone
3,4 Saturday, June 5th 2010 [BEL] Belgium Spa-Francorchamps

9,10 Sunday, September 19th 2010[POR] Portugal Algarve
11,12 Sunday, October 17th 2010 [FRA] France Magny Cours

I'm planning to go to:
* 3,4 Saturday, June 5th 2010 [BEL] Belgium Spa-Francorchamps
* 7,8 Sunday, August 29th 2010 [GER] Germany Nürburgring

Will try to set up a meet in due time.

Is anybody following this FIA GT4?
Not supporting Nissan Playstation, but another team?

I take some interest in this series. Mainly because the Fia Gt series are good for racing. And i write about the series time and again when there is news. I like the RJN Nissan teams, they always do a good job, except they didn't do well with a N-GT spec 350z back a few years ago. I can't wait to see the Triple 8 Jag and sees how it does. Other favs are the Donkervoort Light cars. Great lookers they are. Although the domination of the Ginetta isn't what they had in mind, I would like to see some of the G50s in GT3 and maybe GT2.

This could be a Forum for GT3 and the GT1 World Championship too! The other series look good already.

There is a GT3 version of the G50 already, it uses a four litre Zytek LMP V8.

I have my tickets for Silverstone and can't wait to go. I go every year and would reccomend it to anyone who enjoys motorsport, at £26 for a weekend ticket (including paddock entry and roaming grandstand seats) it is awesome value for money and the noise and power of those GT1 cars is really something else. A great day out 👍

I did not know how best to approach this, I'm OK in changing this thread towards FIA GT discussions.

For me there is an essential difference between GT4 = amateur racing and the GT1 and GT3 versions (professional with different limits for the cars).
I did not look for the last ones, so was not clear if there were already discussion ongoing on these?

P.S.: Anyone clear in how to change the title of a thread, I looked and did not want to try, but it seemed to me Copy the thread and close the old one.

the GT1 world championship starts it's inaugural race this weekend! I cant wait. I'll have to find a site to watch it on though since it wont be broadcast in the U.S. I wanna see the Astons Martins, GTRs, Murcielagos, Vettes, Maserattis, and those Ford GTs! Should be an awesome series! I hope more manufacturers develop cars for this series though. Maybe the LFA from Lexus! Maybe the SLS, even though that's GT3. Wonder if there'll be more competitors the next year or so...

Qualifying is about to begin and the GT1World stream is working.👍
Apparently all the Corvettes are getting 10 place grid penalties due to 'technical infringements'.

Shame im going to miss the sessions because ive got to go to work soon.:grumpy:.

Watching this on ESPN HD, and Gachang has had a big crash and it's feared she has a broken leg.

Qualifying abandoned, Race 1 will start according to the times set in Q1.

If Grojean does well in GT1, I will be really impressed. Weaker drivers from F1 always do well when they move to Sportscars. If you want an Example; the infamous pay driver Jean-Denis Deletraz. The variety of the teams at the front looks convincing, although the fact that Vitaphone is near the front isn't surprising.

Eerily similar to Buemi's crash earlier today, especially as they are related:

This afternoon I watched both the qualifying race and the championship race, some really packed racing. I was especially surprised how close the GTR's were in the qualifying, literally 4 in a row for ages. I've also grown particularly fond of the Sumo Power GT car's they look and sound incredibly nice :D Shame about Phoenix racing's probelms but they managed to get some good results despite being penalised (anyone know the reason for it? I missed that bit). I must also admit the track looked stunning both during the day and at night, the flood lit track seemed to look really visually interesting. I hope to hear and see more about Yas Marina. 👍

Can't wait until Silverstone now, hopefully it'll have some excellent racing. I'll be down at Silverstone for the Qualifying race :) Also the FIA GT3 championship kicks off at Silverstone. Should be good :D

I believe it was something to do with incorrect placing of the ballast they are required to carry as an old-spec car. Really enjoyed the racing today, despite my internet going on a complete go-slow. Definately looking forward to silverstone, I will be there for Saturday and Sundays racing :D

EDIT: Should this not be tagged as 'sports car' and not 'touring cars'?

Ah ok that makes sense seems a bit amateur-ish on the Corvette's behalf to make a mistake like that. Was a shame really seeming they did so well in the qualifying. My internet was a little bit funny whilst viewing the live feed I had to reset my router a couple of times. Your so lucky being able to go to both days! I can't imagine my parents wanting to go to both, also I should imagine Sunday being more busy than the Saturday. Should be good anyway :)

Oh and for those who missed the Champion race you can still watch the full thing at http://gt1world.com/gt1tv you can also watch highlights from both the qualifying sessions on Friday and Qualifying Race which was on earlier today. 👍

Luckily my wife is a big motorsport fan too so she's happy to go, we make it there every year! I believe the championship race is also being shown on sky sports at 22:30 on Monday night for those of you in the UK.

Fantastic racing throughout the field, great job by Thomas Mutsch and Grosjean (Especially Grosjean considering he is a rookie to the sport:tup:). Kudos to Phoenix Racing/Carsport for their awesome comeback after all the trouble they've had over the weekend.👍

Hopefully the #7 Young Driver AMR DBR9 of Tomas Enge and Darren Turner will get some better results next round.👍

Really, really looking forward to the rest of season, the new cars, circuits and drivers are sure to make for even more great action. :)

It will all depend if the new Arena complex is any good. From the looks of it, it looks convincing so that means we w should have some excellent racing for round 2. Hope the Nissan camp rebounds from the first round where no GT-R's got points.

awesome racing, as was F1 this weekend, as was American LeMans. This was one of the best racing weekends i can remember. And Nascar is tomorrow. At least it's a super speedway with high speeds and not some small 1/2 mile circle. I'm not a fan of Nascar too much, but the super speedways are ok. Anyway, GT1 was spectacular. The races were good, I hope the Aston Martins and GTR's do a bit better next round. I say Young Driver AMR team will do good. The Lambo's need some work too.

I can change the tag if some specialist confirms, I generally do not spend much time on categorizing cars, it is all subjective anyhow (except for engine layout, number of seats, etc...).
Starting from GT4 when I opened the thread I preferred Touring, with GT1 included, it does seem a different game.

GT cars are classified as sports cars.

Changed the tag.

Watched the race online at GT1world.com. Grosjean was immense in the Ford GT.

Yes Grosjean was very impressive. Notice how the drivers of certain other cars were saying that BHP has to be adjusted?

Yeah, I heard one of the MC12 drivers saying they needed to have more power. It would seem that the GT was in front mainly thanks to Grosjean though. The other GT finished in 13th, so you can't really say the GT is too fast.

I'm jealous. This is the one event I can't go to this year.

Me too, it's one event I REALLY wanted to go to this year but can't because of work and travel issues.:grumpy:

Hopefully i'll be able to make journey there myself next year.:)

They're all "tin-tops" in the end which are based upon commerical road cars, they are part of the same class really, just different regulations and different race types set them apart.

I beg to differ with the above comment. I think there is no way you could take the cars competing in the other classes and put them up against these GT1 cars. They wouldn't cut it, no matter how much HP you gave them. The GT1 cars were made for this class, designed as such. The other classes are different. The MC12 would make mince meat if the GT2 cars came up a class, even with added HP. There at least 5 seconds a lap slower. Even if you gave them the HP bump and weight equal to the GT1 class, I doubt they'd be on par.
