General Information and Regulations

As with last season there will be three types of race event during the season. There will be 4 Standard rounds of 50mi and 5 Enduro rounds of 100mi and 1 Super-Enduro round of 150mi.

Week starts on Monday, with times to be sent via PM by 11.59pm GMT on Sunday

There is NO HP penalty for joining the series part way through the season.

All rules, regulations, car specifications, and races are controlled by GTPCTC sanctioning body, umm...me for now unless the GTMSA wants to pick me up :P. Any and all questions should be directed to GTPCTC officials (namely me..and anyone else who wants to help out) and officials will do their best to answer in a timely and accurate manor.

All drivers must run at the specified weights and horsepower settings provided by me for each round. Horsepower and/or weight settings are adjusted for competitive reasons each round based on finishing positions from previous rounds.

* Standard Online Racing Rules Apply.
* No Cheating, hybrids, etc. You must run the car specifications I give you
* Try keeping at least 2 wheels on course. Long races = small mishaps, but absolutely NO shortcuts
* No wall-riding as well. Combined with penalties, this will slow you down considerably, so don't do it.
* All decisions by GTMSA officials are final
* The race track for this season will be defined as the area between the white or yellow lines. This means rumble strips do not count as track.

Race

* Single race (arcade mode) lasting either 50mi (standard) or 100mi (enduro) with the exception of Round 9 which is a 150mile race, but will be considered an enduro.
* Weight penalties in place
* SS, SM, SH tires or any combination thereof
* Strong Tyre Wear
* AI difficulty is player's choice between 0 and 10. No negatives.
* Ai tyres SS
* Forced Pit Entry penalty system
* ASM is prohibited TCS is optional
* Points for race: 10-8-6-4-2-1

This is gonna get tight in GS. Assuming I make 2nd and Smallhorse makes 1st (there's no way I'm gonna win this race with all the tire wear), we'll literally be neck and neck. But then the question is: will someone else become an upsetter? Will someone else take those points away from both of us? IS THERE SOMEONE AMONGST US WHO DARE SWEEP THE GS FLOOR CLEAN WHILE WE LEADERS SLEEP?

Stay tuned, folks! ;) The battle of the summer is HERE!!!!!!!!!!

...uh, that assumes, of course, you're in the Northern Hemisphere and it's actually summer. Otherwise it's the battle of winter. :guilty:

Beware the viper :mischievous:
Aiming to put you guys in Deep Freeze

That was a rockin' qualifying lap Parnelli Bone! :scared:
It took literally every ounce of everything I had to push through the 1'26 barrier, and I was so glad to see a 1'25 time pop up, only to be slaughtered by 3/4s!!

If I do take the win here, it'll leave me on 49 points and with a 2nd place, you'd move to 50 points! It's getting close!

However, given that GTSail290 ran within 3s of me at the last race, I'd be foolish to write him off, and raz_10 I've raced enough at LAN meetings to know better than to ever stop worrying about him being super-consistent and quick...:nervous:

I'm going to have to submit early this week too, as it's itgirlxx's birthday on Friday, and we're going away for the weekend.

The SRT4 has the potential to dominate here. It has WAY more torque and power than the other cars and thus, is much faster through the uphill sections. And there are a lot of uphill sections here. So, come on, modelt, you and I should be able to pull out a win here. :P

OK then, my race is run and SuperShouden my submission PM waiting for him.
I'm off for a long weekend away for the Missus' birthday, and won't be back until after the deadline now...

Have fun, and see you in parc ferme after the race for the results! 👍

Nothing would give me more pleasure than to get a wt penalty for the next round. I just don't know how the SRT4 compares with the others in tyre wear. I will do my best. Running the race tonight.

edit: Race finished. Happy with the results. Had a hard time staying awake toward the end. Maybe the car or track. Almost lulled me to sleep. Probably the long day.

edit: Time submitted.

The SRT4's quick T1 time at Infineon (I ended up with the fastest time through T1 in qualifying but T3 sucked) and the quick lap time here at Deep Forest makes me glad that I gave the Dodge such heavy weight and HP penalties. I am impressed with this little car. Then again, it's the fastest stock FWD car in the game. But still, even with all it's penalties, it can still give the competition a run for their money.

Wow. Must be gettin used to endurances or something because those 47 laps seemed to go by faster than I thought. My ST-class race was kinda fun. Was up against a Chrysler Crossfire and Nissan 240SX early-on. The Nissan eventually fell behind as the Crossfire only needed a pitstop every 12 or 13 laps (Nissan needed one every 9 or 10).

So it was me and the Crossfire, mostly. She got ahead due to pit strategy, but my MINI was faster overall. :) Mostly because I could blast out of the final kink onto the straight with ALOT more exit speed (the Ai has a habit of slowing way down here for some reason). The MINI won with like a 17-second margin. 👍 Not bad.

I did not use the Turn 5 concrete pad for this race, as I want to keep things competitive with the others, in ST competition, anyways. It's my own self-imposed limit. But I will use the pad for GS, since this a tighter competition.

I still have to run the ST class race. my GS race was alright. Restarted like 3 times 'cause of DTPs. The last one had a DTP as well, nut I didn't want to restart. I was up against 3 NSXs and 2 Subaru Imprezas. :P

Ran my ST race and Completed all 103 miles on a single tank of fuel. :P My major competition was an Audi S3. When I was on hard tires, he was about as fast as I was. Which was annoying. But, I won, so I'm happy. :)

I had quite a nice race against the following lineup:
Lotus Esprit Sport 350
Acura DN-X
Chevy Corvett Z06 C5
Aston Martin Vanquish
Mercedes E55 AMG

The AI had a great race of their own, and the first three cars kept swapping 2nd place back and forth between themselves. Eventually the Lotus won the battle for 2nd place during the race I submitted, while the Corvette won the battle for 2nd place during my first race. They were on slightly different pit strategies and each would get a chance to be in 2nd place during their stints.

By the end, I was able to emege victorious (which is something that is doubtful against Smallhorses or Parnelli Bone). I had two near misses with AI cars that seemed to have essentially stopped in the middle of the track. I will check the replay to see if I can tell what they did wrong (if my replay did not cut off the recording too soon). I was not really expecting any problems since the AI seem to handle Deep Forest fairly well. I got some drafting help from the AI, but mostly the race was about perfecting my lines thru the corners.

Enjoy the racing,
GTsail

DAng, this sounds more fun than the race I found for GS. I keep getting all the snoozefests. I did have the same thing happen to me, too (there'd be a car all a sudden stopped-dead in the middle of the track after taking a turn too fast!)

found a line-up with an RUF RGT and TVR 350. I though "Cool"...at least these 2 will provide competition with one another (and hopefully me), but it was just a snoozer. The RUF got far ahead of the TVR because it takes less pits, not really because it was faster. :grumpy: Surprisingly, a Callaway Corvette occasionally took the lead (or 2nd) because it took the least pit stops of all! That race was at +9, and actually, I didn't finish it becuase I hit a STUPID Benz that was like....ooooh I think I'll brake here.

Started over at +10 200 A-specs which provided a more satisifying line up packed with 3 TVRs, an RUF, and an Aston as the slowboy. But it was still a walk-over. Oh well.

Did my Round 5 races before I went off to a anime convention in Baltimore this week. So, I submit my times in 'lobby'-ing for a finish high in the standings.

Have I mentioned I'm posting this from a hotel lobby with Wi-Fi access yet? :sly:

Anyways, I might have shot myself in the foot with a DTP near the end of the GS race after I nose-dived the car into the inside wall near pit entrance coming off the final turn.:ouch:

Dang, I was near that convention last nite I think! Was downtown Baltimore, anyways.

What for, the soccer match at M&T? Also, it would be nice to see GT5 at Otakon next year. Let's hope that game becomes popular.

Congrats everyone. Awesome Ford versus GM battle up front. Can't believe how close that is! We would have literally had a car-length between us at the finish. Nice to see OMT snagging some points in ST class, too!

I'd like to thank my pit crew team for all their hard work. Couldn't have done it without you. I'd also like to thank my sponsors in GS class: Red Man chewing tobacco and of course FoMoCo. In ST we have the Hello Kitty MINI Cooper-S. Was a tough battle there and we perservered. Thanks again. :dunce

Nice race Parnelli Bone!👍

My Camaro really likes the track, so I was running consistently fast laps. I was cutting the cement thru turn 5, though not always perfectly since I was having to force myself to drive off the tarmac:dopey: I think the straights at Deep Forest were long enough that Smallhorses Nissan could not keep up.

Great races everyone!

That's what's great about Deep Forest. There's only one straight and it's not long and it's not at all level. :P Speaking of straights that aren't that long, we're off to a short, 50mile race at the Corkscrew in Round 6. Then off to another of PD's fun tracks in the Japanese Hills of Trial Mountain. Then we're off to Paris for another short race before the long 150mile race at le Sarthe and finishing off at Grand Valley with a 100 mile race there. Should be about 2 or 3 pitstops at GV. If I remember right, the 300km race can usually be done with pitstops every 10 laps or so.

Yea that was such a close ending. I was thinking Smallhorses would win again. In reality, GTsail is starting to chase 2nd place points! :dopey:

What was everyone using for tires and stuff? I did 2 GS races; one with SH/SM combo and another with SM tires only. Oddly, the first race (with SH/SM) got better results, even though both races were done with 4 pit stops and the 'stang was about a second faster per lap on pure SM tires. Despite this, my race on all SM tires was like a second slower overall than the SH/SM one! :scared:

....maybe since all tires were red for laps 10, 20, 29, and 38 with all SMs.

For ST, I think I used SM tires the entire time. I know I never used soft tires for either ST or GS classes.

I was running Hard tires all the way until the last pitstop on lap 45 where I tossed on some soft tires in ST. GS was hard tires all the way.

I ran SH/SM tyres and was getting an easy 15 - 16 laps out of them without suffering too much degradation, hence my 2 stop race, which I was counting on to put me closer given that I knew I'd be losing time to the American contingent on every lap, and at no point did I use the turn 5 cut at all.
Sadly my slow pace didn't do much even with 2 stops less, and my fastlap was unremarkable given my qualifying time, although as I said it took a super-equine performance to grab the qually lap! I couldn't get near that pace and the AI on +5 were unhelpful, especially the Plymouths who could be found wandering randomly all over the track every 8 laps or so!!

I tried a race pushing SH/SMs out to 18 laps for 2 stints and running SS/SS for the middle bit, but the degradation of laptime running on 3 sets of well worn tyres looked like it'd cost me about an extra 15s at the end so I quit out. Didn't get a chance to experiment with SM/SS combo & 3 stops as I ran out of time for the week, but looking at the results it'd probably have been the way forward and put me closer to the top 2.

Anyway, congrats to the Podium Fillers this week, and a great close battle for the top spot in GS class.

See you at Laguna Seca whenever the details get posted...;)

I ran with a SM/SS tyre setup. But I doubt I could have done better with a SS/SS one. Thanks to Parnelli for his self imposed handicap at the concrete corner. We would have been a minute behind at least. Will revel in this week's wt penalty (3%) and enjoy the scenery at a slower pace.

I don't think that cut across Turn 5 effects the time that much. You can still take that corner at full throttle and you brake about the same amount. It is a useful place to pass someone and it might give you a better angle on Turn 6. But other than that...btw. I'll get Round 6 up tomorrow.

No entry from me this week ( faint sounds of crowd cheering in the background :dopey:).

To much extra work and ran out of time and could not get motivated.
Watched the Womens U20 World Cup Final & F1 Race instead ( Webber, Webber, Webber oi, oi, oi :) ).

It does affect time if you cut across the pad because there's one less brake-tap needed, and momentum can be carried in more of a straight line. That's what my situation was, anyways.

Well it was good to have you here so far. Come back if you're so inclined.
