Important Notice of a discovery for ALL TRADERS!

When you add someone as a friend on PSN, they MIGHT not show up on your friends list in GT5 right away. However YOU might show up on THEIRS, even though THEY are not showing up on YOURS! If this happens, any car, paint chip, etc. that gets sent before BOTH people involved in the trade are showing up in each others friends list, dissapears forever. Just had it happen to me.

So here is my advice:

ALWAYS verify that the other person can see you in their friends list BEFORE completing a transaction (AKA sending them whatever you were trading with them). That should prevent any more cases of disappearing merchandise. Also, if this does happen I quit OUT of GT5 COMPLETELY, and then the other person showed up on my friends list.

This needs a sticky. Thanks for the heads up. I don't know if it would help, but every time you add a new person to your friends list for a trade you could restart GT5 just to be on the safe side.

I've lost two paint chips due to this. Both Matte's. I agree with Organ Donor, this should be stickied.

If it is stickied PLEASE MENTION if you get an UPLOAD FAILED error TURN OFF YOUR PS3 IMMEDIATELY. Do not click 'Okay'

My game just got CORRUPTED BECAUSE OF THIS! ! I got sent a ticket, somehow, the hdd got corrupted instead. It froze gt5. Then, I switched the ps3 off and booted it up again, then It said it had to do a 'defrag' type of thing with my ps3. It did the procedure, went back into GT5, everything worked fine. Went into a race. Pause does not work. The game stops,like it should when the game is paused, but the three options on the screen refuses to come up. I deleted my install. Reinstalling the damn thing again. And just ordered a new 500gb hdd. I had the standard 80gb in it currently. After that 'defrag' , it freed to more gigs. My hdd used to have only 2 gigs of free space up until I got GT5 and deleted the demos to get the 30gigs. After the defrag, It said I had 32gigs free. All this crap since I got a freaking ticket from my friend on psn! EDIT: the 'defrag' process is called 'Hdd rebuilding' , this is the first time Ive heard this term. Im seriously P1ssed if my savegame is broken because of this, I'll only know after the install.

just a heads up i traded a car with someone

they saw me in their list but i could not see them for 3 hours and i still got the car they send and after i could see them i send my car to them and they got it

What I first do before a trade is sending an email in GT5 to the other friend and check if I get a reply from him. If that works a trade should give no problems.
