Good Examples of Miniature Filter Photos?

Hi

I see that GT offers this miniature filter that is some sort of fake tilt-shift effect.

Has anybody actually achieved the desired result with that filter yet? I´ve used it quite a few times and why it makes for interesting photos now and then, I´ve never archived the actual miniature effect that tilt-shift photos are famous for.

Does anybody have any good results or tips for angles that work best to make the filter work?

seems like focus stays pretty much center of camera. I love the rule of thirds, so I haven't been able to achieve the effect the way i like it..i've seen a few good examples though.

I've seen one guy demonstrate it, looked very good, like toy cars on a diorama track, very impressive. Can't remember where though :(

i like how my attempt came out, but ive seen better examples of the filter.

I find it hard to pull ofy because you really cant get far enough away to really get the miniature effect. I only got one shot that pulled it off fairly well but I'm at work now, I'll have to post it when I get home.

Edit: Whew almost couldn't find the thread.

I've already seen some good ones here, it's not too easy because you cannot make the camera high enough most of the time.

Yes, that's the first shot I´ve seen that looks like tilt-shift, impressive.

How did you get this far away though?

looks like Eiger, which has that steep mountain climb. either it's a fixed camera or he "walked" the camera all the way to the top..haha, that would take FOREVER.

Yes, the best way to take these shots is to be as far away as possible. Sometimes a little help with the wide angle also works.
This is one I've managed last week at the hairpin at Tsukuba:

I'm still learning to use it.

The trick it's playing on your eyes comes from the blur at the top and bottom of the frame. It makes it look as though you're zoomed in on something really small, thus making the fore and backgrounds blurred. You need something with substance in both the fore and backgrounds to be blurred to get the best effect.

These two are pretty much at the same angle, and they are both good examples! 👍

i'll tell you a little secret

while watching replay pause at those first corners and just go to photomode and press select, its the fixed camera just hovering in the air haha
no need to walk around or anything:sly:

Think like a model diorama maker with a pinhole lense. Makes tilt-shift second nature then.
