Hello!

Is anyone able to help to get the Focus WRC (or other cars) to be responsive and maneuverable as this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TshFWSsrn8

I don't talk about long drifts etc., but more about how the cars handles at low speeds and is allways precisely controllable during a drift.

I tried various settings but I wasn't satisfied. It seems I allways have to much or too less grip, too snappy or to much oversteer...

All Ken Block's cars are set up to in such a way that they ONLY oversteer when he pulls the handbrake, it's fairly evident in the video. The only time the car oversteers without the handbrake is when he is braking on the banking in a straight line and the bank end begins to slide down the banking.

With that in mind, what you need is:

VERY short gearing, in the real world, his cars hit about 45 in 1st and then they're bouncing off the limiter in 6th at around 140mph. This means you are ALWAYS in the 'big power' band.

BIG power. US rally cars aren't limited like WRC, most run IN EXCESS of 600bhp. That Fiest in the video also has HUGE power.

Locked rear diff. Set all three settings to max. (60) This is to help maintain the oversteer when 'on throttle'.

LSD front diff. Set it to 5,20,0. This means little immediate effect (cures a little power understeer), reasonable effect under heavy power (to help pull you out of the lairy handbrake slides), and very little effect under deceleration so that turn in is good.

Centre diff. This is personal preference, but again, you need a fair amount of power to pull you out of the backwards handbrake entries, so you'll most likely want something like a 30/70 split, but it'll vary dependant on car and your driving style.

Everything else is up to you :)

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your input. I will try those settings.

You are right, the car has lots of power.

Specs:
2011 Ford Fiesta (built by Olsbergs MSE in Sweden)
Horsepower - 650bhp (limited for optimal power brand)
Torque - 895NM at 4000rpm
Weight - 1100kg
Power to weight ratio - 1.69kg/hp (greater than that of a Bugatti Veyron)
Transmission - six-speed electronically shifted sequential box, all-wheel drive with three mechanical differentials
0-60mph - 1.9sec (on race tyres)
Pirelli PZero tyres

Any idea what car in GT5 could be best to upgrade it to those specs?

I'd guess an Impreza or similar, but I haven't finished my FR collection yet, I haven't even start buying 4WD's yet. I'll have a look later and see what I can find that might fit the bill :)

I wish I knew the answer dude! I've been playing around with a few cars, Skylines can get the power I think but the weight is high. I've got a 22B Impreza with 550+ horsepower that's just over a tonne. It handles pretty well whilst sliding but it's a pig whilst gripping cos I locked up both diffs. I'm gonna have to change that when I'm driving it next, but I rarely do as I find myself using 4WD techniques in RWD cars, which doesn't do much good!

Unlock the front a diff a little. Best should be something around 5/40/10 or thereabouts.

God I love that video.

I would say use the hatchback STi, like the one he used in his second(?) video.

i dont really have a great setup. i used racing hards up front and sports medium at the back. I guess just play around with different combinations see what works for you. in gymkhana they use the e bralke a lot. I try to use it as much as i can but its hard using my g25 (i have to reach over and press the o button) i guess i have to modify it and custom make one.

Nothing, to put it bluntly. You'd need to have a rally car for one, of similar wheelbase, the only thing I can think of in game that matches the Fiesta on an approxmation is the Suzuki Swift Rally Car, possibly the Mitsi Tarmac Rally car? Both being heavier, and you can't get the BHP if you tried. Plus with current Transmission modification, at the moment, something like that is very unlikely.

I really had hoped they'd have the new WRC car's for next year in the game, but alas, they don't, as next year's WRC teams using Ford's will be Fiesta's.

My tuned suburu STI hatchback performes really well. It gets ridiculous angles. I'll post up specs tomorrow.

The Inprezas should easily be able to hit the 550-650 mark. A guy I race with regularily has the previous shape STi with around 550bhp and I was having to dig deep into my garage to find something that could keep up with it on most tracks. My DTM or GT500 cars where barely able to stay in front of it so who knows what it could do if it only needed to do 120-140mph or even used the newer model which has a bigger engine so in theory should have more power again.

I´ve tested some of the WRC Rally Cars but i don´t get the Angles like Ken Block.
I think with the Subaru STI Hatchback it should be possible

Been using a Subaru Impreza Coupe 22B-STi Version '98 for sideways fun, able to keep some sick angles with it.
Sharing my setup if anyone wants to try it, dunno if it suits your needs. :P

Mods:
Everything except spoiler.
550bhp/1056kg

Transmission: 280 km/h

LSD:
F: 20/60/20
R: 30/60/30

Torque Diff:
35F/65R

Suspension:

Ride height: -25/-25
Spring rate: 5.4/5.4
Extention: 8/8
Compression: 8/9
Anti-roll: 6/6

Camber: 1.2/0.0
Toe: 0.05/0.00

Brakes: 8/5

If you can find one, try the old escort rally car, it has like 350bhp stock, but you can get it to about 450ish which works a dream, put on comfort hards and it works really well :)

I've designed a sweet gymkhana track at topgeAr
TT, I will upload a video tomorrow. Best part is, you only have to get rid of 1 cone and move another. The start is at the hammerhead corner facing diwn the straight. The moved cone is #3 on the outside of hammerhead. By moving it a car length closer to the wall you create a spot on tight double hairpin. I'll show the rest of it in the video later

Sounds sweet, let me know when you are going to try it online and I'll get something sorted to come and have a play :)

Sounds pretty awesome. I was a little shocked that they took the old gymkhana course out of the game, especially with all that Ken Block has done these past few years. If we were given an open space and the ability to place cones it would keep me occupied for a lot longer than the track 'creator' we have currently.

Theres a map of my track (it looks complicated but trusts me it's awesome! And...

^^^heres the video^^^ It shows a drive around it, a slide lap (think Ken Block but not as awesome) & a quick show of how to make it. Trust me guys, this is a sweet layout and is definitely worth the minute of set up. :sly:

That's a pretty cool track, I'll have to try it out sometime :) Hopefully we'll get a lobby set up soon and then we can really test it out! :)

I tried your course out, it's good for the most part except for the fact that you can't get the car fully sideways whilst going round the signs at the side of the runway :( So the only improvement I could make to it would be moving some of the cones that get removed from elsewhere so they are in line with the signs and go around those. It's a bit of a faf but I think it'd be worth it if we could get our cars properly sideways around them :)

A little off topic, I got to see that very Fiesta at the Detroit auto show a couple weeks back :)

Should have taken pictures of it, mad at myself that I didn't...the turbo on that thing D: You could see it through the gap at the back of the hood, it was the largest turbo I have ever seen on a car lol

The track and video is awesome...Just couldnt watch it all the way through. I hate watching controller users videos. The wheels are too snappy. Nothing against you or your skill 👍

I saw the Fiesta at the LA auto show it was really cool, i took pics but they are just on my mobile phone :(

I had to use a controller 'coz the wheel was near impossible with the donuts. Span so many times :(... I'm having a crack with my new evo, same track for a nice comparison. Video will be up soon. (i'll lock my wheel at 200* so i can use it and the wheels aren't so snappy)

This is a great idea. . . amazing!💡
