GT5 becoming more of collecting than racing?

Been checking forums and its kinda funny to see that people nowadays are *more* busy duplicating / collecting / trading for duped cars rather than racing. Its killing the game since you dont need to do hard work to get these cars and also having these cars (those X1s, FGTs and cars worth 20M credits) are as easy as eating peanuts.

What do you think?

That's why I don't trade or duplicate lol I have 17something cars and only 2 I think are the same a civic type r because I bought one in the beginning than won one in b spec I think and a prius cause I won one and I got another one through the 1000 gift ticket I'm usually grinding for money to buy cars I don't even need nor do I even drive I just buy them to have them in my garage e.g. I have like 10 versions of the rx7 and i've only used 2 the Bathurst R and the premium 1990 rx7

I don't think it is killing the game at all. Not sure why anyone would think this. What effect does it have on those who are not doing it? Maybe it keeps a few of them out of the online lobbies but for the most part cheaters are better off being out of the lobbies than in there cutting track and punting people.

I think if someone wants to dupe or use a glitch to get money then let em do it. Maybe they enjoy it more that way maybe not. Some people may only like to race online and as much as some of the cars cost if you are only racing online it could take forever to get a few of the high end cars so this is a way they can get some cars without driving career mode a lot.

In the end what does it matter?

Yeah. "Hard earned" cars makes the game more exciting imho.

Its killing the game

I think you are not understanding that it is just another aspect of the game. There are many ways to enjoy this game and that is one of them. I like to do lots of different things with the game at different times. One reason I want a robust garage is to be able to have a car that will make each race a real challenge. Not just run over the competition with an over powered Escudo or Concept Car. I will bet that a lot of the people that whine about people duping cars and birthday gifting, will also brag about their 100% win ratio.
Your enjoyment of the game should not depend on what I have in my garage or how I got it.
If you think I would be playing with you if it were not for my car collecting habit you are mistaken.
So exactly how is it killing the game?

Can you see the point here? Before, at early part of the game, when you want a veyron (for example), there is no way to get it but to gold the GT World Championship cup. So the fulfillment of seeing that car in your garage and knowing who got it the hard way give you sense of achievement. Not unlike today that you can get your veyron for trading it with some cars that you also get from dupe trading.

I think yes... with the lack of options in races and tracks in the offline mode, the fact that 98+% of the cars can be actually purchased... the arrival of copy-cars with the most recent update and other exploits... the game is more like "the real collecting simulator" ...

yeah. And if you can get a 20M car using dupe trading, then why do you need to do grinding?? It will now be a stupid waste of time. Now it KILLS the game.

You dont need dupe trading to be able to get a car that will make each race a real challenge.
I don't need it but i like it. Plus I am addicted to the anticipation of seeing what will come up when i cash that duped birthday or 1000 ticket. I have an account with 21 tickets that I just cycle through to see what will pop up. And when something interesting comes up I will go to the description and read about the car, kind of like going to a car museum.

I think you are missing the basic point in that what others do with their game doesn't affect you. If you trade cars with someone it doesn't matter how they got their cars, the end result is you traded cars and got the car you wanted. If you don't consider that fair because they didn't have to "work" for the car then that is just a mental hurdle you impose on yourself. Life is unfair. This is a game. If how people play their copy of a video game, where it doesn't affect how you play at all or give them an unfair advantage competitively, you should consider yourself blessed for that being a major issue in your life.

As far as the original post, GT has never really been a racing game. It's one long series of time trial challenges, some of which are dressed as races. Ultimately you are always racing the clock, not cars. The series has always been about pitting together your dream garage and driving them.

Those that seek fulfillment from completing challenges and winning the Veyron (or whatever car) the "hard way" are likely to be completely different people to those that just want to own and drive the Veyron.

The way it is now both people can be happy.

How is my satisfaction at owning the Veyron, FGT or X1, knowing that I "earned" them diminished by the fact that someone else traded or duped their way to the car they wanted?

Well your point just shows what kind of mentality you have.. and I cant blame you for that. As the saying goes, there are always 2 sides of the coin, you just want to be at the wrong side of it.

It doesn't. Some people are apparently that petty though. Wait for the "ruined economy" comments to come now. Since a game with no auction house or in game currency trading can somehow have an economy. It's not even called a trading in game, so by their own standards they were abusing the games options by using the gift function to trade. But that was ok because they were putting in the work the hard way. When I start using words like work, hard earned, grind, in my gaming vocabulary I will quite. It's precisely why I haven't played an mmo in years .

I always wondered if prostitutes could get around the law by calling it a gift and not a trade. Not that I have any experience with prostitutes.

Please explain if possible. I've heard better rebuttles from my 5 year old nephew. If using common sense and logic is wrong then I will gladly accept that flaw in my character. Please point out the fault oh wise one.

P.S. I don't dupe or trade or do the birthday thing. The extent of my car trading has been giving a guy on this forum a couple of cars after he lost his save. Oddly enough my game experience has changed nil from launch till today in spite of all these game breaking changes some of you have endured

Every car has a price so you need to earn credits to get them. If you want to have something you dont deserve, then its your problem anymore.
I have 59 years of getting what I deserve and believe me I deserved every bit of it.

Its simple dude, life is unfair as you said and I agree with you. But this is not life, this is just a game.. If theres a way that we can make this game fair then Im after it.

Sorry but im speaking in general.. Do you think a player whose level is below 16 and having a FGT deserves what he has. Its not that Im affected, but it kills the game in the aspect that nowadays, you dont need to be at least lvl 24 to purchase it. And when I read forums before (before release of patch1.05 where dupe trading is not yet allowed I suppose) seeing other posts that they are eager to get to level 24 to have this car then this makes the game quite more exciting.

Oh, now I see. You have such a fragile ego that you need a game like GT5 to make yourself feel like you are better than others...

In previous versions of Gran Turismo my interests have varied but one thing I liked was the license tests. Another thing I liked in GT2 was what I called slot cars at Red Rock. (Based on the insane downforce that could be tuned into some cars.) I remember some people liked hybrids in that version as well. I never could get into just grinding races to get prize cars. I do not have any interest in Bspec and my game will never say 100 per cent on that account. The game is still not ruined for me just because it includes something of no interest to me.
I have already gotten my moneys worth out of this game and can see playing it for free for some time to come.
Oh yea the g2010ag handle comes from one of my slave accounts. The master account is grampa1951.

Whos talking about ego here? What does fragile ego has something to do with this? And in what universe did I say that playing this game "fairly" makes me feel that Im better than others? Wake up man, youre dreaming.
