GT5 becoming more of collecting than racing?

Of course.. .I have won almost everything in the game. Just working on endurance races for both a and b spec. Once complete, then i dont have much to do. Mind you 4 hour endurance race on b spec has been quite the challenge. Keep getting bronze, not good enough for me.

Knowing that other people have duped cars ruins the game for you? You don't know 90% of the people who duped cars, nor will you ever, so how does affect your offline play?. If you think it ruins the online experience, it doesn't. So they have the X2010, turn on regulations, it's easy to block out an X2010 from an online race. So they have an FGT they didn't pay for, they can't drive it for crap and bounce it off the walls, spinning out every five seconds (I've witnessed it).

In the end, it is a game that everyone who bought it paid their money for. Some people don't want to put the 300+ hours in that are required to drive the cars they want. Honestly for the first two days after I got it I only played arcade because I didn't want to spend my time driving a Miata around. I bought the game to drive the supercars, and if trading/duping is going to help me do that, I'm glad to do it. I rarely play online, I enjoy the endurance races.

If knowing that I have a car in my garage that I didn't earn the hardway really bugs you that much, there is something else at fault, something insecure inside you. It's like the trustfund babies of the world, so they have million dollar homes and supercars, they don't affect your daily life. GET OVER IT.

Since there is a trophy for 1000 cars, its just one of the many aspects of the game. Do I still race? Yes. However, I enjoy the part of finding a new car, earn cash, trick it out and repeat over and over again. I got this Iphone app that allows you to keep track of your collection so you do not have to exit the UCD or Premium Dealerships. Its fun and I enjoy it.

Becoming? This is why I bought GT back in 1997. Forza is for racing, GT is about the collecting and driving... it's just that a lot of the driving happens to be in race format.

Have you even wondered why this "game-saving" thing was not included in the initial release of the game? And also why cars have corresponding price and levels? Its because if you want those cars, you need to earn the credits and gain the exp points for you to be able to get it. Its basically one of the objectives of this game.

But there are some complaints that some systems are crashing and are losing their saved game data. So to help these people solved the problem, they unlock this "game-saving" thing. But the problem with some people is that they exploited this thing. They were given a hand but they took the whole arm. In the process, all the values of the prized-cars were gone. Why earn the credits if someone can simply dupe it for you? So some of the games objectives are now irrelevant. In this world, everything has a price. you give some, you win some. You give hard effort, a reward is waiting for you.

So tell me, was the game not ruined? If for you its not, then you should have stayed in the arcade mode. Because obviously that is where you belong..

I think we all reach a point where we do not need to race to be challenged anymore. Right now I only want to fill up my garage with the cars I want, then I'll take on the AMG and X10 challenges then call it a day for GT5.

Yeah I agree that at some point in time, this will happen that we do not need to race to be challenged anymore. It just happen too sooner that expected and one of the reason is this duping thing. 👍

I suppose that's true but then again it's a video game I'm not supposed to spend MONTHS playing it. I have plenty of other games I want to explore -.-

This has all come around because the game is not big enough, truth is there could have been twice as many championships in the game by simply running the tracks in reverse For instance "Sunday cup Reverse",or the game offers a car similar to that of you'r oponents for you to do the race or championship and by using that car you get double money and points or go with your own choice for half the reward. They just didnt think it through or maybe got too caught up with things like the track creator and weather which in my opinion is pointless

Exactly my thoughts. Still keeping my fingers crossed for at the very least A spec extra difficulty setting where some regulations would be in place (like max hp/min weight) and you'd be able to get viable xp once you're done with the current ones.

Seems like the devs got caught in a dead loop of designing too many cars and too few of the other content in comparison. Not a rant per se but there are so many relatively easy (and production-cost savvy) ways to make it a better experience.

Let's see what updates bring; 1.05 patch addressed the issue partially to be honest (Seasonal challenges), hopefully there will be more meaningful updates like that.

Why should I stay in arcade mode? Because I bought the game to drive a McLaren F1, or Puegeot 908, or a Ferrari, but I don't want to spend my time driving a Miata's and Golfs around?

Sure arcade mode lets me drive some of the higher end cars around, but no where near the amount that you can collect and race in GT mode. God forbid I want to skip the boring crap and get to the real racing, sorry I fractured your ego by not working hard for my virtual cars.

Me having a car that was duped and sent to me doesn't effect your gameplay at all. If you want to spend your time grinding away to get all the cars so that you can feel that you worked hard for them, be my guest. But there is no reason to go around telling the more casual players who just want to race that they are a disgrace to the game, or that they ruin anyone else's experience, because it simply isn't true. You wouldn't even have known that I have duped cars unless I told you.

Same ol' lines..anything new to say aside from "not affecting your gameplay" duper-alibi? Heard it thousand times already..

Some people may only like to race online and as much as some of the cars cost if you are only racing online it could take forever to get a few of the high end cars so this is a way they can get some cars without driving career mode a lot.

I completed career mode (twice, after accidentally deleting my first gamesave... :ouch:) and never even ran into many of the cars in the game; for example: the Bentley Speed 8 Race Car.

But when an online friend invited me to his LM-only race, I traded for a duped Audi R10 TDI and went racing.

I have a feeling that this idea was what inspired PD to incorporate trading to the game.

Funny thought: since the game has such a robust car line-up and the ability to trade, perhaps it is equally as much a collector-sim as a racing-sim...:sly:

Duping is lame, but if thats how they enjoy to play the game, then thats how they enjoy it. Doesn't bother me that they can't handle the cars they dupe. :D

It certainly has a pokemon feel about it, 'gotta catch them all'. I currently have 200 of the thousand odd cars.

Yep, it's called jealousy. It's what too many people in the world have when they see someone else having more fun than them. Why would I pay $60 to work?

Oh really? You really think its jealousy? I think the appropriate word is pity. Pity on them that they can't even play the game straight without cheating..and how can it be more fun if youre cheating? Oh unless youre a born-cheater then its a diff ballgame

It's a heck of a lot more fun then riding around Daytona five hundred times.

I sure find quite a lot of pleasure in cruising around Nurburgring in my duped X2010....

hahaha...I've been collecting cars the past 2 weeks and haven't really raced in A-Spec. I refuse to do the endurance races since I find them pointless especially w/o the ability to save in the middle of it.

I've been trying to level up my bspec to 40 so I can buy all the X1 colors and I picked up FM3 (blasphemy i know) and having a blast racing since I have not REPEATED one race so far.

PD really needs to release more events for GT5 before they fix anything else!.

I do believe that the trading through gifting is really something Polyphony Digital was after.

You get more people connecting, more connecting = more racing online, more racing is better for GT5.

Although I agree that I find the trading time consuming, it is again another way to get to learn about the cars differently.
Also the second hand garage is frustrating, it is good to have an alternative system.

Actually if you go to the marketplace, you can notice that it seems no one is interested now in getting FGTs and X1. Why? its because almost everybody has one already. So there will come a time that no one will doing trading and in effect, less communication. But if theres no duping involved, this will not take place as one cannot gain car without losing another.
