I seriously want to love this game, but some design decisions are beginning to frequently frustrate to a point that its becoming detrimental.

Just tested 240kmh vs 250kmh, the PP for 240 is 679.97 and 250kmh is 725.53.

It doesn't seem to be just the top speed in the PP calc.

Ah, so THAT's why my CSL jumps several points with just a few minor power/transmission changes.

It tends to hurt old cars since their 600 is not the same 600 as the faster ones'.

Just tested it, and it's not just for the top speed, adjusted the GT500 Supra (which apparently as a JGTC car doesn't come with a race transmission stock - that's another Cr21k) to run at 240kmh and it reduces the PP from 726.59 to 679.97.

As you can see in the screenshot, it zero's the value for rotational G at 150mph and also by the looks of it also High Speed stability, so your getting a triple advantage. You take a very slight hit in acceleration (but have more than enough PP in hand to address that if needed) and also reduce low speed understeer and increase low speed Rotational-G.

"allow tuning in SPORT" they said, "it'll not be pandora's box" they said. Just turn on BOP and be done with it, what a complete farce.

It's not much different than having BoP enabled and yet still having one car that is the meta for whatever circuit/discipline combo comes up in Daily Races, like it used to be in GT Sport.

Sure, there are lots of ways it can be exploited (at least initially), but I don't think BoP is the be-all end-all solution to the problem. I much prefer having tuning enabled.

Kaz said he wanted to use Sophy to balance the cars for BoP. That might be a solution. I wonder if it could work to calculate PP. Maybe not in the background.

I just read the Original Post of this thread and I was feeling the same thing, after completing Cafe, and doing some missions and finished up the licenses with gold, not much to do except grind and grind to get cars I do want but waiting on the UCD/Legend Car rotations are a bit annoying to say the least. The overall career structure is shorter than GT6 and that's saying a lot as that game was short as a base game. Also I do wish for seasonals to come back to ease the grind a lot which reminds me of early GT5 before seasonals were a thing.

All I can say all of what has been said here is criticism that needs to be addressed by Polyphony and hopefully they'd keep an eye on it.

Also the Roulette spins, I really wish they were not in the game most of the spins are so unfair 3 star roll and get 5,000 credits instead of a engine swap part it's annoying to say the least.

I won the anniversary edition car in the 6 star roulette spin :banghead: Even 5K would have been better than a useless duplicate of an undrivable car. Porsche 917K Living Hell.

Too much grind, too much pressing X. This game ran out of content fast. The extra races that pop up after completing the menus are so lazily designed, 10 laps, one pit stop, no weather, repeat. With bugged payouts as well, 5K for Monza and Le Mans...

The GR3 GT Cup race at Daytona is great, a couple races in the later missions are good as well. The rest, meh.

Regarding the discussion on suspension and gearing setups affecting PP ratings, I might have a solution.

What if equipping a custom gearbox or custom suspension results in a 10% increase to its PP rating (as an example)? The potential increase in performance is accounted for; it's up to the players to fully capitalise on it while suiting their own driving styles.

Im very disappointed in this game, just spent a whole lotta money for a wheel setup for GT7 only to find out they $&$@3d up driving on a wheel, i can drive fine on a wheel in GT Sport and the FFB is better. it’s damn near impossible to drive anything rear wheel with no assistance that wants to wag its tail out cause you can’t recover from oversteer without spinning into a barrier, but on a controller with no assistance im smooth sailing in both games.

- Have to buy each paint and rims separately.
Can you explain this? Don't you have the choice of manufacturer chips and custom RGB now? And I think I installed TE37s to multiple cars without buying it again or maybe I was hallucinating.
- Removed changes/wins stat from cars in garage.
I like this because I have throwaway cars that were only good for one race, and accidentally getting into a car by input error made my OCD go nuts in GT5.

CBH
Agree and I hate this decision by PD, suspension settings below will be effects any Performance Points.

Body Hight Adjustment effected by PP
Anti-Roll Bar Level effected by PP
Damper Ratio (Compression) % effected by PP
Damper Ratio (Expansion) % effected by PP
Natural Frequency HZ effected by PP
Negative Camber Angle Degrees effected by PP
Toe Angle Degrees effected by PP

Aerodynamics effected by PP
LSD effected by PP
This does seem over the top but they'll likely update some of it as the PP system is pretty unbalanced at current, as usual. I'm interested to see if it goes anywhere

It is over the top PD should have left the suspension, LSD and the transmission alone and everything else will get effected by the PP, then everything would have been sweet for this game, except for some minor issues.

On the PP thing, while I never played GT5P, I noticed this game's PP method seem to follow that game's method, because GT5P does care about transmission and suspension settings (as well tire compound, which also GT5 initially cared for until it was dropped in 1.07) for PP calculation purposes; none of the later games count these.

You can use the paint picker, but if you're like me and want the exact manufacturer shade (or any of the special finishes) then you gotta buy each chip separately. Same with rims. Sure it's a one time price and you can apply it to multiple cars afterwards, but buying all the paints and rims still cost you money. It's just an additional cost to an already very grindy game.

Yeah believe me, I have OCD too when it comes to these stats in GT5/6. But in GT Sport oddly enough it didn't trip me up so much. I realized that the mileage induced engine/chassis degradation is what tickles my OCD more than the actual stats. So GT7 is like the worst of both worlds for me (only mileage recorded, but no changes/wins).
