Black Hell: Nacht der Amerikanisch Donner
Wednesday, April 6th, 6:30pm.
Nurburgring Nordschleife, 5 Laps

Please excuse the translation, I think it's accurate, but I only took a couple semesters of German in high school, and that was a while ago.

We are all familiar with the infamy of the Nordscheife; 13 miles of rough, narrow concrete, winding wildly through the trees and hills of Nurburg, Germany. Many famed sports cars have met their end here. The Green Hell can never be tamed, and only through sweat and devotion can those who try to master it come out alive. It is a monster, but every monster has an even more terrifying foe. When the sun has gone down, leaving darkness over every crest and behind every bend, only fools remain. Black Hell reigns.

Demonic and deadly. Imagine the sounds it's victims must make. The barking flat 6's and screaming V12's. And of course thundering V8's spitting fire, burbling and creaking around every bend - American brutes forcing their way through the darkness.

Engineering from 1960's America may not be advanced, but the muscle and braun of the beasts created in the era of power have the strength and arrogance to take on the danger.

Chose an American muscle car from 1972 or earlier to take on Black Hell. Tune your car to 550PP using sports soft tires. The race will be run at Nurburgring Nordschleife/Change Time, with the time set at 0100 and the time change ratio set at 1. All laps should take place in the pitch black dark of the Black Hell.

Regulations

• 550PP
• Sports Soft Tires
• All Aids disabled except ABS and TCS.

Rules

• Respect. It's the only rule. We all know the GTP guidelines for clean racing. I expect they will be followed. No corner cutting, bumping, etc. Hopping the curbs is okay, afterall that's racing, but lets keep 4 wheels between the lines. Contact is inevitable, lets address these situations as they happen. I assume and expect there will be no punting.

If you have an idea for an event, PM me, or post it here in this thread (social group) for fine tuning ideas. Tell me what regulations you'd like to have, what cars, etc. Make sure to include venue, distance and especially when you'd like the event to be held.

Previous Events:
Chase the 380RS, March 27th

Not A League is a group of racers with varying skill levels and abilities. We all enjoy good quality racing but cannot commit to a set schedule for events and we don't want to commit to the same cars over and over.

There is no sign up sheet required. If you have an idea for an event, PM me, or join the social group to fine tune your idea with the help of others. Tell me what regulations you'd like to have, what cars, etc. Make sure to include venue, distance and especially when you'd like the event to be held.

To make it interesting and give it more of a competitive feel, results will be posted in the Not A League Social Group, along with a unique points system. You don't have to have to race in every event, as standings will be averaged based on the number of events run.

All you need to do to race is send me a PSN friends request, or post your name in this thread and I will try to add you. All events will be held in my lobby, unless something will not allow. I may not always be able to race, but with friends lobbies, I just have to have the room open. I may ask another person to control the race. If you have any questions just ask.

Cool. I say now is as good a time as ever to start discussing the best time for the first race. I say sooner rather than later. I'm not "closing registration" so even after a race is run we can get more members.

First Choice: Sunday. Any time works.
Second: Saturday AM.
Third: Friday or Monday after 6pm Pacific.

I'll be up to just joining if I can. I'm sorta a day ahead of most players (GMT +9) and I work Monday-Friday. Like I said, if there's a date that I can make, I'll be glad to join up.

Pacific time racers. Just what I'm looking for. Add me to the list. I'm available after 8pm weeknights and various weekends.
Yeah it's tough to participate in other leagues that are based on Central or Eastern time. I'm only available after 8pm too, which is way too late for most events.

On weekends I am usually available for a couple hours between 1pm and 5pm, when my kid is napping.

I can do Sunday afternoon. Best is 2-5pm-ish but I can negotiate with my wife if needed for other times.

You didn't mention driving aids yet. Hope the laid back attitude works here too. I prefer sports soft tires over racing tires on road cars, but I'm not the best driver and cannot manage without TCS and ABS online. The requirements in jdmAP1's wagon race (in his sig) is close to ideal for me.

Ah yes, Driving Aids.

ABS of course. TCS is fine for rear wheel drive cars. Any FF events it will probably be disabled, though.

Sunday seems like the best time for this first round. I'd like to keep it simple for the first race. I will update the first post a bit later with the event info.

This sounds like fun! Add me to to the list; PSN is MindlessRiff. I'm a GMT player, hopefully this won't get in the way at all and I can join you guys :)

As far as aids go I frequently use TCS, ABS and the driving line. I gotta face it, i'm just an average GT5 driver using a Dualshock LOL. As far as tires go Sports Soft are fine for road cars as long as the car's HP is not to crazy.

I mean try racing a 700hp+ Saleen S7 with anything less than Racing Soft tires is uh crazy LOL. Sports Soft tires would work for basically stock road cars though.

One suggestion I have is to create a social group and vote on the HP and weight restrictions before each event.

Anyway that is my 2cents and I look forward to racing with you guys and hope this "not-league" is a success.

Hey bones I would love to race with you guys if you have room for 1 more.
PSN ID spedd1966...?? Thanks

I don't plan on doing any events with cars higher than 400hp. I would like to do a muscle car event though, so that may change (Challenger R/T already over that limit.) But I like racing normal cars for whatever reason.

I like your idea of the social group. When I get home I'll get that started.

Absolutely.

Room is up for the event tonight. Racing will start a bit after 5, basically once everyone is happy with their car. I'm bored so I'm just lapping.

Remember, Sports soft tires, no race cars. tcs and driving line can be used.

Tires seem to last ~15 laps so I think the race length should be about that, to make it interesting towards the end. See you there.

I will be online in about 20 minutes excited to race!

Is anybody racing right now? I just sent a friend request to bones but I'm totally lost. Not sure what is going on...

Nevermind...I finally found the room in the open lobby...man that took forever!

Room Number:

Sorry everyone! What a mess that was! I will be adding everyone to make sure it doesn't happen again. Hopefully, there is still some interest after tonight!

At least we found another racer who will want to join, GullyCat raced a good race and was a random guy who showed up.

For the future events:

1. All members will be added on PSN and for the social group.

2. Use the social group for voting on your desired event. The event will be selected and all info will be posted here as well as in the social group. You do not need to vote, you do not need to join the social group. But events are selected by majority.

3. Rooms will be in my lobby and room info will be posted 1 hour before race time.

4. More race information will be posted in this thread prior to race time; including number of laps, restrictions, qualifying etc. Race information including room number will be found in this thread, in the social group and on my GT community page.

Once again, I apologize for the mess and hope I rise to the challenge in the future!

Seems like I won't be able to participate if races happen at times like this last one. And I had no idea there was even a race.

Race event was posted on Friday.

Hopefully, there will be two events throughout the week; one for those who can't do weekends and one for those who can. I am on the west coast of the US and I don't get home until 6pm, 9 on the east coast. But I will try to accomodate all racers. This is supposed to be a stopgap between strict, scheduled leagues and trying to find someone randomly. Do not feel discouraged, if I see nothing has matched someones preferred time I will do my best to make sure there is somehting for them.
