Thought I'd share, it was a fun project! :)

New video is up, celebrating that my auto-grind videos made it to over 5000 views tonight. :)

I am blown away by the interest for this thing, it's only the third video I have put on youtube and this one had 1000 views the first day..

Anyway, I have been contacted by a supplier of similar products about letting them put this to market.

We have had some discussions, but since it is weekend nothing certain. I asked about what pricing the had in mind and would not get a straight answer. I do think it would be something like $49 (or at least hoping it is not more)..

What do you guys think?

1: Should I sell my soul to the devil?

2: Would you buy a small part of it?

Cheers, Anders

Once GT anywhere is released their wont be a real need for this. With that being said you better take advantage quick. 👍

Won't GT Anywhere require you to restart races manually? I was under the impression that it is a way to remote control GT5 without changing the gameplay.

GT Anywhere in combination with my device would be cool though, just have to add a line of code to make them work well together..

Yes, that is the same impression I had as well. But what I'm trying to say is the only thing really worth grinding in B-spec is endurance races. I could just as easily restart an endurance race from a cell phone or computer. I personally do not see a point in grinding anything other then endurance races. If someone is savvy enough to discover your invention then you would also assume they have researched exp/credit payouts. (and realized besides Dreamcar there is nothing worth grinding.)

IMO the only time I could have used this was the time I took grinding Dreamcar to get to Indy 500 and even that wasn't too bad. And if your like me reading these rubber banding threads then you should be well past this point already grinding endurance races.

I've worked a bit on the code, since I lost a lot of hours with a hanged PS3 and no save between races.

I'll upload a video shortly. How it works now is like this:

1: Choose a car and it's settings.
2: Enter the series and cup you want to B-Spec grind in.
3: Place the cursor on the race you want your driver to do.
4: Plug in Bobs babysitter.
5: It will select the race, choose your first driver and load the race.
6: When starting the race it is possible to have it automatically enter the lap time view and open the camera menu where there are no graphics. I tried it but is not using it at the moment.
7: After the race is finished money and XP will be collected.
8: After money is collected it will loop back out to the cup menu and re-select the same track and start racing again.
9: And it loops from here...

Nice thing about this is that now game data is saved every time a race is finished. Pretty useful when auto grinding.

Yeah, I am with you. But is $49 a fair price for something like this?

Would you buy one?

I won't but I am married with a kid. It will take me a few YEARS to finish this game but I knew that going in.

$49 would be hard to market for a particular game, particular aspect of a game and for a particular time of the game.

Issue 1, once level 25 most would run endurance with no babysitting of Bob.
Issue 2, if money is what someone is after, 2 rubber bands, a paper clip, and a usb keyboard gets 20 mil in about 9 hours.

Your vendor is more or less looking for a device that will press buttons at key times for a variety of games.

I take care of the grinding now so that when I get to the Endurance races, I don't have to worry about using this "device". Nice effort, though! :)

Great idea.
How about taking out the middle man and offering it as a download for a thumb drive with a PayPal business account?
Don't wasted time dealing with the other guys. Sure there will be rat-bastards who buy and then share with their rat-bastard friends but most of us are adults I would think. Sell it for $15 and you'll make a ton on volume.
Good luck either way.

THIS! Thank you for beating me to the punch. $10 for a download of this for some flash based drive? Hell yea.

You'll make plenty of money, even if you have a 50% piracy rate of the file.

that's awesome, I did something similar using a small servo and an arduino. your thing is sweet. it gets input from the game whears mine has to be programmed using timers.

the setup is crappy, i slapped it together to see if it worked, and it did. I'll be working on the servo support this w-e to get osmething cleaner.

That is great! Love the setup!

I took a few classes in French 15 years ago, but didn't do very well. :) Are you using timed servos to activate the buttons?

Yeah, I used timers in the code to activate the servos. I'm not into programming at all, actually I had never programmed anything before yesterday night, when I did this. Using the arduino makes it a little bit easier but still not that good.

BTW, I really don't want to hijack your thread too so I might start a new one.

No hi-jacking as I see it. We are all in the same boat with Bob. :)

That is very good feedback, thank you!

Problem is, that the hardware (that anyone could buy) is one type only. You can't take a generic flash drive and load this software. The hardware type needed for this to work has very little consumer spread/use normally.

What I perhaps could do is to get the manufacturer of the hardware I am using to pre-load the app I wrote to the device. An option would be to put a setting on it that works for most races but not all since there would be no buttons or switches on it to change between different settings.

Different setting I am working on is to do an oil change every once in a while, cycle not only races but also the different championships and a few other things.

But that might be overkill for the majority who would just want to let Bob grind on in a single race.

USB-spec lol

I think you've got something. Even if it doesn't make you independently wealthy, you've shown creativity and ingenuity to create a very interesting and smart product. I'd bet there's a market for it. And maybe it could be your foot in the door with this company you mention to create other devices. I say run with it. Good luck!

if I wasnt already to L40 this would be interesting....at spec 24, painters tape and usb keyboard does the same thing, but after a few days, theres really nothing to spend the money one and getting to L40 aspec without doing the endurance races kinda defeats the purpose....

but I love the engineering that went into this....

My GT5 auto grind videos made it to 5000 views tonight, uploaded a new video to celebrate. :dunce:

Works with the latest 1.07 game update. Must be the only way to get an X2010 with no effort now that it is impossible to gift cars over 1 million credits in price. I have two of them after this grind marathon that the Babysitter did for me. :)

hey sweanders, i'm already 35 in bspec, had a lot of night grinding, but i'm interested in your device.
is it a macroing usb input device?
how does it work?

Can you explain it better please?
Can we do that in our own or is it a special device?

That is a good basic explanation of how it works. I have written program code to a hardware device telling it to act like a PS3 controller and click where and when I want it to.

At the moment I have code for many B-Spec races for different cars and started working on the distribution side of the code. It will take me a few weeks to get that up and running.

If you want a device before hand send me an e-mail on sweanders@gmail.com

I have sent out devices to the first test users to test the code on various PS3's, drivers, B-Spec level, cars, tracks etc..

Should have the first reports on how it works in the real world outside my IT lab after the weekend. If you want to hear how well it works from someone else than me. :)
