Incompatibility with a user or something. I get this error every time I want to join a room.

Does anyone know what to do?

It may have something to do with the update. If you havent got it, get it. Or if you have, it may be that the host hasnt gotten it yet. Especially if they're using a custom-made track, you mighy have troubles.

I was running NAT2 and no problems online till the 1.06 update, for some reason after installing router reset itsels and I had trouble connecting to servers or getting disconnected so decided to check my settings and it was now NAT3....reset the homehub turned the PS3 back on did a connections check it returned back to NAT2 and now no problems again

anyone else have this error? one friend and I have this error. if he makes the room, I can't join. if I make the room, he can't join. if we both join another friend's room, we just can't see each other on track or hear each other over the mic. anyone have any ideas how to fix this? his connection type is NAT3 and mine is NAT2.

Im having this problem right now. with one friend. There is 3 of us trying to play. frined 1 and me have no problem with each others servers. but frioend 2 cant connect to mine or friend 1. Fried 2 can start a room and friend 1 can join but i cant. reset router and modem and signed out of PSN. I just wanna race more then one friend lol

Has anyone had a solution to this?

Tonight we had a race planned with 12 of us online and I could get into the room sometimes but it would always disconnect me after about a minute!!! We fkd off man was really looking forward to this race!

Thanks to forward it as I'm experiencing the same problem here.

I'm Nat too, cache cleared but nothing new.

This only happens with some friend, very few ???

Tidyboyx, what if one isn't able to portforward because you live at student house where you don't control or have access to the common router? Any alternative way of getting rid of this?

Monoha I think you are screwed.

Tips for fixing:
Forward the ports
Place PS3 in router DMZ
** Assign a STATIC IP on your PS3 **
-If you setup your router etc and your PS3 decides to grab a new IP address then you will get this error, hence the requirement for Static IP once you have it all sorted.

Thanks 888 :( I won't be able to get a different connection here. But I wonder if one of those 3G mobile ÙSB thingy would do the trick? That might be really slow, but would it technically do the job of avoiding this error? Would the 3G thingy even work on a PS3?

Hello guys. I'm going to try to enlighten this a bit. Eight friends and I have been playing every week. Nearly we all have to deal with connection problems, most of them 7XX issues.

Our conclusions:
- the problem is not the cache.
- the problem is not the NAT type, we all are NAT 2: firewall with uPNP enabled.
- the problem is not our LAN network. No matter if we have seven devices connected or not. No matter is everything else but the PS3 is off. No matter is we are thorugh wireless or cable.
- The problem is not about the quality of our internet connection. A friend and I used to play together and now we can't. And everything is the same.
- The problem is not the PSNetwork, I use to play other multiplayer games without an issue.
- The problem is not the blutooth mics, we have tried with and without them.

So, we guess the problem comes from the GT5 SERVERS THEMSELVES. No matter what we do. We have tested dozens of possible scenarios.

Most of the times the error message is about an incompatibility between the room owner and yourself (706). So everytime we play we have to go trying different room owners until we find someone who doesn't have problems with the rest. Actually, nearly impossible. When we finally are in one room together, some of us can't listen or see e some other players at the race. And they are in!

We normally spend one hour trying to join and play. This is unbelievable. I hope poliphony or whoever is the responsible for this fixes the problem, as little we can do about it.

It has to be a server issue, im getting the 706 error message right now, and yesterday me and my buddys where playing fine yesterday...

Some times there are server problems, and sometimes online play works fine, thats it. It depends from time to time. To bad PD has so unstable online play, iotherwise the online play could be a really strong part of PD because online racing is the thing for new generation games like this. Not only online play, but the ability to chouse your own type of racing in online play and do what ever you want.

I encountered the dreaded "706" today. I was playing online with a friend of mine when suddenly I lost connection with the server, I think it was caused by my Wi-Fi router, I was logged off PSN. I logged back in straight away and when I was trying to join again I got the 706. Tried making my own room etc. I then cleared the cache as mentioned in this thread and it worked fine after that.

I was able to solve this by turning off the PS3 and modem.
Then turning on modem and letting it start up till fully operational.
Then turning on PS3 and connecting to same fiend that was unable to connect in the first case.
Hope this helps.

Nigel.

Sounds like you've been banned.......
