Tips for fixing:
Forward the ports
Place PS3 in router DMZ
** Assign a STATIC IP on your PS3 **
-If you setup your router etc and your PS3 decides to grab a new IP address then you will get this error, hence the requirement for Static IP once you have it all sorted.

I got now this 706 fun also but I thought it was my new router or something I did not got correct in the settings of my router.

So I got a question about the quote.

I got my router ( for my ps3 ) set in DMZ. So it has a static IP set in router 192.168.0.2 and set in ps3 the same.
Now what about forwarding the ports? I thought with a DMZ setup this is not more needed or do I understand this wrong?

Any one?

This is so strange. I race with the same bunch of people, now certain buddies I cant see on track or cant hear them as they still have the loading bar under there name. These are the same people I have raced for months with and have never had a problem connecting to rooms they are hosting or vice versa!

Now I can't join his lobby while he cant join mine, the usual 706 error, but if I join a lobby that is not his but he is in the lobby I dont see or hear him and again, vice versa.

We have all our routers set to DMZ blah bla blah and the rest!!

We cant have incompatible connections as since novemberI have never had these problems with some of my buddies, only now, so no PD it is not my connection but something up on your end. Please get it fixed!!!

This is upsetting me as well. A group of us race every saturday night and we have trouble getting everyone in the room. Sometimes everyone is in the room but not everyone can see or hear everybody. The cons of Gran Turismo 5 are starting to be more than the pros. Fix this PD!

I'm still encountering this issue as well, only been playing GT5 for a few months and did all single player, I've been trying to play online for the last month and everytime I join a room in the open lobby, I'll be able to get into the room, get on to the track, most of the time the race will start and I'll drive around the first corner or second and then bam.. black screen, you have been disconnected. Sometimes I get disconnected in the room lobby. My nat type is 2, my connection/speed is high, I have the Ps3 set in DMZ on my router. I did try a google search and see which ports were needed to be opened, was a 3000 number(can't remember off the top of my head) and when I forwarded that port on my router, everytime I would connect to a room, it would reset my whole internet conncection on the ps3 and PC, so I removed that. Can't find a resolve to this issue anywhere.... Anyone?? Thanks!

I am STILL suffering with this issue.... I see this thread originated in feb and come may is still not resolved? OUCH!

Almost 2012 & still not resolved for alot of people, a few months ago i could goto basically any room without issues & my room was always full, now i am getting disconnected from rooms in either seconds or minutes & 90% of people cant join my room when i host.

i think a few months ago this wouldnt have been so much of an issue for me, but online is about all i have now in GT5 since i have the platinum Trophy so nothing left for me to do except play online & do the Seasonal events which i complete within hours of them opening.

Since i started making this post, 3 people have tried to connect to my room but cant. :(

Please FIX the Servers.

This connection problems is the greatest problem with GT5, it's usualy not the user's connection that is the problem but the game servers.
It must be a great problem for GT5 because this is what make a great game to be something not so great...
Trying one hour to get a race started what the h... is that?! It's grownups that love to race that play this game to, and we don't have time for this problems.

Connection problems is a big deal. FIX IT!!!
