With some dutch guys we each called sony nl helpdesk and urged them to make separated case nr's and send them to the UK .

Sony NL says the problems are new and they never heard of it .

I advice everyone make a summary of problems u got and call your local Sony Helpdesk that way they get lots of complaints .

We have got an official case nr and they have to reply them if not we call Sony again in a few days and ask them how things are

Black screens .
People not showing on track .
Lag .
Lack of grip .
Lots of people who cannot connect to rooms .
Etc etc .

Sony made contact with me regarding the problems please close the topic will communicate with Sony outside this forum .

What are you talking about. You have allready made this same useless comment in another thread Why open a new one. No one understands what the hell your talking about.

Simple Black screens , lagging all those problems where we are talking about in other threads .
Why discuss them here indeed why we need to call Sony and let them handle the problem .

Call them let them make a case nr lots of complaints and they need to do something .

We all know there are problems but Sony says they do NOT know of those problems !!

What is useless is making comments on threads complaning and not do anything .

The servers and online play is with Sony and PD we need to complain direct to them to get something solved .

PS Its a little nicer if you do not react with words as useless to someone show a little more respect to other users
There are lots of moderators here if you do not agree with a new thread simple report it

Just complaining will do nothing.
Opening tickets/complaints/bug reports/problem reports helps Sony to see the size of the problem and take an action to make GT5 online gaming better.
I KNOW IS P2P, but is sad to see that many other games just work with many less problems.

It would have been a little nicer had you quoted the above in your first post. We would then have been able to understand your problems. And no everybody does'nt suffer these, I for one dont have them.

And do please then explain what the hell this means from your OP.

"I think we are on the wrong way".

That's true.
But.... why not make some noise there too?
Sony made PD rush the game launch, and I think it has to do with the game netcode and how it was made.

Thats also what i try to make clear WE cannot solve it by discussing it here but we need to tell them there are problems so that THEY can do something about it .

Nice but others do have very big serious problems i know people that cannot go 5 min online so you are lucky keep it that way .

Right, it was hard to decipher. That's why I posted the link. Just trying to be helpful.

PD deals with GT5 not Sony lol

Well, no.

Sony publishes GT5. What this means is that they bankroll the project and then provide certain services in return for a (large) slice of the profit (a lot of developers never se a penny of any profits,.since they have to pay the publisher back first). These services include duplication, distribution and QA. They will also provide customer services - when I ran a QA department for a fairly small publisher, I had two staff who did nothing but deal with customer service issues - and will normally make the developer fix any issues with the game that the feel damages their image as part of the standard contract. Who foots the bill for these fixes often depends on whether the QA deponent found the bug or not before the game was signed off.

The other thing is that all PS3 games that are released are done so under licence from Sony. And Sony also have an image to protect. If games are full of bugs, they don't get released because it can put consumers off buying PS3 games - which is just about the only thing keeping Sony afloat these days. Sony have quite rigourous QA processes to ensure games meet their standards (my first proper, full-time job in games was working for Sony's QA department in the early PS1 days) and can and will (and have) force publishers to withdraw from sale any game that is found to contain seriously bugs post-release.

So these kinds of issues are Sony's problem. And the more people who report them, the more likely they are to do something. Though that something may be to decide to do nothing about them.

This is actually not a bad idea. If Sony sees a giant influx of tickets on the same issue at the same time, they WILL look into it.

Maybe nobody at PD ever lit a fire under someone at Sony to fix this?

More likely though, Sony does know about the problem already. Maybe the phone junkies at the help desk don't know, but Sony does and there isn't much they can or want to do about it.

Can't hurt to open tickets though! It's possible Sony knows there is a problem, but they don't understand the scale of the problem. Leave no stone un-turned I say!

Its not so difficult the only way to do something on all the online problems is to get in the phone and call those that are running the playstation network in this case Sony itself .

I believe that they are not reading those forums and when they do not hear of problems there will be done nothing at all .

We can all act if as we are IT experts and discuss and argue here what is wrong but i am 100 % sure that will not change anything .

There are a lot of people that tryed all possible things to better the situation but without any results .

So again if we cannot better the GT5 online gaming then go to the source the one that is the owner of the online network gaming of PS3 = Sony .

Find your PS3 homepage of your country lookup the helpdesk phone number and just call them urge them to make a case number and let them know there is a problem !!

Windmil,

The problems you and your friends are experiencing in Gran Turismo 5 are problems that lie within the game, or the game's online functionality. It has nothing to do with Sony, Sony Computer Entertainment or any other affiliated Sony groups.

I advise you to contact Polyphony Digital in regards to your issues.

All the best and please refrain from making pointless threads as there is plenty others related to this topic in which you can post.

You do realize that Polyphony Digital is owned by Sony, right?

What is an "nr"?

As to some other comments in this thread, and as to complaining to Sony... I don't see what that is going to do. The game is distributed. When you play online with friends, there is not a central server that is running the vector physics equations for all your cars. Your PS3 is doing that, and you are broadcasting either your current location and vector to everyone else in the room, or you are broadcasting your control inputs, and everyone's PS3 is calculating everyone's car (and they have occasional sync points which lead to the jumps in position). I'm not sure which.

Point is, there is no central bank of servers that handle the actual race. The problem is a code problem in the game that PD needs to address. It is not a network problem, and it is not a Sony problem.

The only bank of servers that is doing anything is the bank run by Qriocity. They handle the lobby registration and allow you connect to other users by initiating a contact (otherwise you'd have to open a port on your firewall).

This ^^^ And the fact that there are a lot of people with connections that just are'nt up to it. These weak connections are killing online play.

Do this for open lobby's.
Set room to fixed, Racing at standard and mics low you will then have a better chance of a good race if a low connection joins. Yoy will see the culprits with the bad connection everytime there is a change of course or regulations, they will have dotted lines under there ID name showing there loading taking longer. This isnt allways fact but will give you some pointers to the bad connections.

Better still do this.
Race with friends you know dont have problems and race in a private lobby.

As I mentioned earlier, this is a Sony published game on a Sony console. It's also pretty much the flagship franchise for Sony. So it's very much their problem. One of their flagship product shaving well-publicised problems will tarnish the image of the console and the franchise, not least because most people will assume it's a problem with PSN.

So then the correct action is to post on the Sony Playstation forums, which are the official forums for Sony Playstation. Google, register and post.

Again like i told you yesterday if you do not agree with an thread then report it to a mod but do not repeat yourself with messages that are old and already tryed .

Thanks for understanding

Thats what i meen we cannot complain to PD so Sony is the only one who can contact PD and do something about all the problems

And in the Netherlands we are doing that all the time but the problem is that it cannot be resolved in the Netherlands thats why we are calling and ask Sony to make international case numbers !
