Top 1000 Online Ranking & Extensive Stats

Hi,
in the line of making "tools" for GT5 community (and mostly forum users on GT Planet and a few others), i've just setting up a new section on mygranturismo.net website : Rankings.

For now, the stuff there is about GT Academy 2012 : Top 1000 rankings (with all informations on one screen), cumulative rankings (only for driver in all Top 1000 of a given round), country rankings by time posted (and not Gold medals which are too easy), and controller stats.

The page is "beta", so it is not yet accessible anywhere but in this link:

As I said, it's beta (and online for a few minutes), so any feedback here will be welcome.
 
Excellent work and a very cool looking site, Will defo come in handy over the next 8 weeks :cheers: I updated my 2.5 about 15 minutes ago and it still has my old time on the list if it's worth pointing out :)

... still it's very impressive 👍
 
Not sure how you are able to process and update the data so quickly, but it's a wonderful addition, especially the country stats, since the in-game ones are a bit poor, like you pointed out.

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the work you put into creating and maintaining the site.

It's been an invaluable tool and it has allowed me to fully enjoy GT5.

Holy crap I'm ranked 207 for Round 1. Interesting how I used a DS3 until I decided to dust off my DFGT yet it still shows me as a stick user.
 
@everyboy, thanks for feedback and sorry as i lost my last post made earlier while i was going to shut down my PC.

i'm using the data from challenge 5/5 for cumulative time boards for controller.
You're not on board anymore on my last update as (i guess) you leave top 5000 on first round, sorry :-(
Times are so closed on round 1-1 that it is almost arbitrary to be there or not...

Short answer : nothing special (PHP, Mysql and Html/css for display), and lot of my time. Long answer is is beyond the scope of that forum ;-)

i'm currently doing manual updates. There's a lot of data to process, and i'll do auto-update on regular basis (like every two hours ?) when i'll be more confident it wouldn't bring the website server down ;-)

How do you retrieve the Time Trial Database information?

Is it possible to Query the gran-turismo.com database itself???
Mind = smashed, I tried to retrieve this info by separating strings of text and such long winded methods :dunce: It worked but it was horrible

Anyone else find themselves waiting for this awesome leaderboard to update? I fixed that 5000+ time to a 500+ time with a DS3 while I had some spare time. I want that 200th spot back! :)

Yes!! I can't wait to see how i'm doing so far in round 2.
I couldn't figure out why I wasn't on there already but it was due to a poor placing in 2-1.
All fixed now and should be in the top ten somewhere :) (sorry Mav) Hope the update comes soon!

I'll try to setup auto update today.

By the way, the overall Top 5000 was still searching on Top 1000 only, i've fixed the problem, we have now 666 players on first round and 1059 on Round 2 boards. This confirm that the Round 2 is more selective (for many reasons).
 
glvdwalt , i'd like to do that as soon as possible, yes (but i first need to put the database online, which is not the case yet).
Currently i render static pages on updates.
 
The Rankings are now dynamic.

This means that the Top 5000/challenge database is browsable and filtrable (Country, Transmission and Controller Type). :)

I'll set auto update once per hour during GT Academy period.

I was waiting for this type of page to show up, project very similar to what Zabeu did for us during previous GTAcademy.

Too bad I'm not in top 5000 in every ranking :P
 
Just wanted to say again how nice this leaderboard is to have. Once again 213th in round 1. I think I will work on 2 today and tomorrow. How about adding a counter for how many have visited the site? I think that would be interesting info too.

I don't see what's you're referencing to, in either way (what is prefered over what). Could you be more precise?

I was refering to GTA 2010, when we were driving 370z on Indianapolis

the ranking system back then was much user friendly than it is now, you could see who is actually on first place and so on

and also one person (i dunno if it was you or someone else) made a web page with those rankings so we could access them via internet browser not just ingame
