Hello Racer,
It’s an extreme honor for me to have this opportunity to talk with you directly. I have been designing and manufacturing footwear specific to simulated auto racing and it’s taken me ten years to perfect what I believe the absolute best solution in this genre.

simboot.com

In order to keep this original post clean I would like to draw your attention to the simBOOT™SOX. Although I make a full system for sim racing I feel that the best introductory product is the SOX.

Like you I started out racing in my socks

athletic_sock.jpg

I immediately realized that it just wasn’t working. I spent more of my time trying to keep my connection with my pedal face and in place rather than concentrating on my racing line. I also spent most of my lap after lap re-positioning my foot on my pedals, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

I would like to present my solution. The Patent Pending simBOOT™SOX.

As you can see, these are very stylish and functional. The exact function you have been looking for. Although I create a full suite of simulated racing footwear products it’s the SOX that are fundamentally what simBOOT™ is all about.

Constructed of knitted Coolmax® “Coolmax is the brand name of a series of technical fabrics designed to wick moisture away from the skin. The fabrics employ specially-engineered polyester fibres to improve “breathability” compared to natural fibres like cotton.”

Then there is strategically placed rubber coating for contact grip. This is the key to simBOOTs function. The grip not only resides on the exterior but it is also applied to the interior. This gives you unparalleled contact grip.

Based on your driving style you can have grip on your heel for the gas pedal allowing you to slide your toe over the pedal face. Let’s say you modified your DFGT pedals to incorporate a stiffer brake pedal feeling, you can use the toe grip on your brake foot. This allows you to keep contact with the pedal face enabling your heel to slide over the pedal base.

You can immediately imagine the benefit of this. You still have the tactile feedback/feeling that socks provide but now you can have your socks work for you.

simBOOT™SOX are a needed addition to your sim racing experience. Please take a look and regardless if you purchase or not, say hello here. Ask questions here. Give your feedback here.

For $19.99USD plus shipping you can put behind you the excuse “I’m sorry, my foot slipped off of my pedal”

It's my hope that I will be able to secure relationships with but not limited to:

I hope to contact each owner and attempt to secure a relationship with them in order to be able to offer SOX with their company brand. Fingers crossed!

Take Care and I look forward to communicating with you.

Just so everyone knows, this promotional thread has been approved. 👍 Thanks for interacting with our community here, simBOOT!

Hey roflcoptor,

I wish I could sell them to you but I can't. I have to contact Polyphony and see if they are interested in letting me offer them. I think it's going to be an uphill battle but with some support from this thread maybe just maybe they will entertain and audience with the little sox that could :D

Fingers crossed!

Hey berty, see you on track ;)

I would like to thank Jordan for the opportunity to let simBOOT have a voice on this forum. I'm very excited to introduce you all to what simBOOT has to offer.

These are looking pretty good! I'll be ordering in the coming weeks!

Do you make sim shoes as well as sox? I'm looking for some ultra light race shoes like the Puma's without the outrageous $120 price tag.

Thanks all for the replies.

Mayaman, I do offer a more structural footwear product. Based on my years of experience regarding simulated racing I have come to the conclusion that the need for a real shoe does not relate to sim racing. Please take a look at the video on the main page if simboot.com It explains it pretty clearly.

Here is a video showing the function of the SOX:
Crap I can't embed the video...

Thanks Jav!
Ironically that video was created before I developed the SOX even though I had made provisions for the SOX in the patent application.

I wouldn't mind trying a pair of the sox. I've spent ages (and more than a few £'s ) trying to find the best footwear when racing. I've been through socks, trainers, diving socks, marine socks and currently use 'aqua shoes' which are great. I find I need to feel the solidity of a shoe base but has to be flexible.
Are the sox fairly rigid all round or just in the 'grip' areas?

Hello museumsteve,
The SOX only have substance where the grip is applied. You are the type of racer that will immediately understand simBOOT™ I made a few videos because it's a lot easier to see it than it is to read it. I just created a playlist, I hope it works. I'm really new to all of this media sharing stuff :nervous:

If you need more information please do not hesitate to ask and THANKS for the question,

Hi sim boot i am also intrested in a pair or two, is it possible to have no branding on them or custom design? I know it sounds stupid but i like left foot and right foot on them and maybe my signature on ankle is that possible?

Thanks Sim Boot

Hi..

Is it all possible to order with grip on heel as well as toe for both feet?
Your site only gives the one option...

Or failing that what would be best option for CSP's mounted at 45 degrees?

Thanks

Robk24

Robk24, There is a specific reason that I don't do grip on both points of the foot. With the grip being at one point you are able to slide the non grip area "this makes all of the difference in the world"

I ask you to pay attention to the way you use your pedals the next time you are driving. It seems obvious but you'll see, now that you need to determine how you use your pedals you use them very specifically and it may change based on the car you drive.

If you leave your heel planted on the base and slide your ball/toe of your foot on the pedal face then you would want heel grip. If you raise your heel or you push the pedal face with your leg then you would want toe grip.

I hope that made sense. Thanks for the question and the interest.

Do both SimBoots have rubber bottoms? I am a left foot braker exclusively.

I would really like to check out your site. The pictures posted here look intriguing. But, your site is not accessible to millions of iDevice (iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad) users. Adobe themselves have said Flash is dead and HTML5 is to be the standard.

Since PD won't give gamers what they want, a GTPlanet SimBoot would be cool!

The socks they give you when your in a hospital (ACTI-TRED) work pretty good, but it's not worth going to the hospital for. Might find them on internet,Google.

Do some homework before buying from simboot.
FWIW, I just saw an iRacing thread on this product. the customer service and quality appears to be be spotty. Some people said they love them and had not issues. Others have had issues with no company responses, boots falling apart in a few weeks, waiting months for replacements, etc.
YMMV!
:)

I don't want to knock this product but I raced with a wheel on FM 2 for years with my regular socks and never had issues with my feet staying on the pedals. I played a lot and competed for #1 times.

I need footwear not so much for grip, but support and to keep pain away on the bottom of my feet (from pedal face) during longer sessions. Are these SimBoots stiff or rigid at all on the bottom?

The T500 pedals have diamond plate which can act like a cheese grater on our heels. My right foot in particular, because the throttle has more travel. How do SimBoots prevent premature wear on the heel?

Run don't walk! I can tell you from first hand experience, RUN I tell you RUN!

"...How do SimBoots prevent premature wear on the heel?

Dave,

From what I can see of the images of the 'boot' version...seen here...
simBOOT_under_DBL-500x500.png

It would appear that the extra padding on the bottom would help ease any discomfort that might arise from long hours racing...as well eliminate any unnecessary 'wear' that might arise due to the diamond plated pedal plate on your particular wheel/pedal setup from occurring...

SIDE NOTE:
Even though I had a set of ECCI Trackstar pedals, seen here:

img1ro.jpg

Which also had a rough, diamond-plate style foot rest area, the "slippers" I wore, which I purchased from a skate shop many years ago, worked great in providing the bottom of of my ankles enough support to endure long periods of racing...even including several 24-hour events that I ran non-stop! :sly:
