Twin Motegi Oval Track?

I think its safe to say that Twin Motegi will be included in GT5 sometime in the future. But why would PD include the oval track? Has there been any confirmation that PD will include the oval track? I think we all assume that PD will include the oval because it was in GT4. But what I see happening is PD releasing a DLC that only includes the road course. I mean the last DLC was an oval track so I don't see PD putting to straight DLCs with oval tracks. I hope I'm wrong and and I hope someone can confirm me wrong but I am a realist and this is just what I feel. :scared:

I am hoping for the whole thing, oval track included. If it don't happen, I won't lose any sleep over it tho. I'm hoping, for my NASCAR gaming needs sake, that the new NTG thats due out in the fall? will be better than the last one.

But the Speed Test Track, Route X, isn't a race track. Some people use it as one kind of like how I mainly use the Kart Space track location for drifting.

It's only an observation, but I don't think they would have modeled the signs and two-dimensional spectators in/around the oval if they weren't going to include the multiple variations that Twin Ring Motegi has.

I think the whole thing will be again. I agree with KB18Fan. It would be nice to add another oval race NASCAR's on.

I just think that if they bothered to model the whole track then why not give us all variations? They've already given us many variations of the Nürburgring (not the Südschleife and the old full course though unfortunately, guess they couldn't reliably model the sections that were torn up to make the GP/F layout which I've never cared for), so it's a fair assumption that we'll have every layout including the oval.

Well, parts of the road course are in the oval's infield, so spectators in the stands wouldn't be out of the question. That being said, I would like to see all variations of Motegi's facilities available.

A week hasn't gone by this slow for me since the last weeks we were waiting on GT5 to be released. I'm going to be hitting the restart button so many times before crossing the finish line (it'll save time) when I get to that event.

Not trying to take a shot you or anything, but its funny how you and others just seem to be sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for PD's next move. Maybe its an age thing (I'm 46) because I just go on about playing the game or life in general and let things happen when they do. For instance, I never understood the concept of waiting in line for hours or even a day just to be the first to get the game. I guess I just don't get overly excited about the anticipation of things.

Honestly, I haven't been anxious at all for any updates or DLC for more than a few months now, but knowing that there is (should) be a new track in GT5 makes it more annoying to wait. I know what you're saying though, and it's obvious to me that the case is most young ones (me) are impatient. I'm impatient for a lot of things. Not much of it is about GT5 though.

Me too. It's the same thing for GT6 on the PS4. I'm not someone that will be able to pay for a new console right away, yet I'd still prefer it to be on the PS4 for unselfish reasons. It's all about the bigger picture.

Same goes for how long it'll take for the next GT to come out and people saying it'll take as long, if not longer, that it took for them to incompletely release this GT. They've "finished" the more difficult part with the physics (rain, snow, dirt, karting, and F1 not so much I guess), lighting, and going overboard with trying to replicate everything so precisely, including the back seats of cars during gameplay:) (there's a guy that JUST said that he didn't like that), which I care for.

Well really, Route X wasn't meant to be a race track. Even if it was though, why not 2 ovals? I don't even do NASCAR, and I gotta say this sim needs more ovals badly.

If you look in the pictures they released, you can see the oval in the backround and it looks fully rendered so i would assume we will be getting it.

And really, it's a part of the track, so who cares if they add it or not?

If anything we should care if they don't add it because that's bogus.

Frankly, I hate it when they don't add every layout of a race track in GT5.

I still can't believe they didn't add Suzuka West, or the Moto layout. I mean the chicane is there, why not just add the layout?

What would be annoying is if the track didn't have night and/or wet weather again. At this point every new track they add should have these capabilities and frankly I don't know why they haven't added it to more tracks.

For me that would make a lot of races much more interesting. Imagine the tedious 9 hour Tsukuba race with rain and a setting sun to a dusk finish?

That would be nice but it is much harder to make a day/night/weather. And most races don't last long enough to use the systems.

We do need more ovals but I think some short track style ovals (Say... any small home town track in the US) are what are missing most.

But as always I'm always up for new tracks.

Of course it takes longer, but they have as much time as they need when it comes to DLC. I'm just tired of half-implemented features in GT5. If you have night and weather get it implemented on every track, not just a handful.

I disagree hahaha but it's only because I HATE short track ovals. Maybe not medium ovals, I actually like when NASCARS have to use the brakes, I'm not a superspeedway only type of guy, but the legends series in iracing has made me hate small ovals with a passion. I know that's where those things race on, but to me it's just too crowded, and not a lot of fun.

To me oval racing with little to no drafting is just not fun. Drafting strategy to me is what oval racing is all about but really, I don't know a damn thing about oval racing and really don't know what I'm talking about. I'm a road racer, my opinions on ovals are probably all wrong, but I still have them.

I at least think they have to add day/night cycle. Iracing even added night racing to motegi (they just got the track a month ago), and hardly any tracks in iracing has night racing so I assume in real life they race at night a lot there. I think night racing is probably tougher to do though right? because of the shadows?

I don't know a great deal about video game creation but it does strike me as odd that it seems to take PD so long to model a 24 hour light cycle for tracks, and they have to do it on an individual basis. At least I see no other reason that so few tracks feature it.

What I don't get is that surely once you have the lighting model done it can be applied to every track? The reason I say this is because I follow the work of Project Cars and a while back they announced their light model was upgraded and we had a 24 hour cycle. It wasn't just added on a per track basis though, it was universally applied to all tracks. Now granted to start with it was pretty basic and the tracks weren't lit properly in the dark but the basics were there in one go.

If anyone with more knowledge on the matter could chime in I'd appreciate it.

GT5's day night system isn't global, it's actually only selectable on two courses, now why on earth did PD decide that you would only like to see such beautiful day to night transitions on only two courses is beyond my logic. If you are adding day/night transitions and weather, make it a global system that works on every course in the game, it might be a bit tough on courses like Laguna Seca where they have to swap textures(dry to wet sand). Tokyo 246 would have looked impressive going from day to night and back, especially the dusk just before the street light sensors kick in. This idea would have allowed PD to use any course in the game for endurance races with demanding conditions. Also could have added the option to localize the weather if you choose to for your races, albeit snow might be hard to do in GT5 like it does in real life on the Nur.

Man I wish we could get that It would make Tokyo really come alive. 👍 I would really love to know why they did not do what you stated in your first paragraph. Thanks for the insight. 👍

Yea I was wondering the same thing. I know iracing does it on a per track basis as well but I always kind of thought a day night should theoretically work on all tracks because really it should only be the light source that's changing.

Same with rain effects. Like netKar has the best rain effects ever by the way (visually, and physically especially), and it can be used on any track, even mod tracks. Nothing really has to be done to each track, it just works.

Since the oval is not part of the track, but rather another track on the side of the main one, I doubt it will be included.

Assuming it's just a GT4 port/upscale and not from scratch I see no reason they wouldn't have done the oval, it's the easiest to do.

just like monza and fuji

That's a different story. If you noticed, you would see that there are no "classic" tracks from history, for example - Fuji 80's. I guess PD decided to go with newer tracks and ditch the old tracks that aren't run anymore. That puts Monza's oval out of the question - both the fact of what I said and also how it's poorly modeled. Meanwhile, Motegi's oval can be included as it is still used.

If PD is stupid enough to not include Motegi's oval then that would be, well, stupid. I'm hoping that they do include it, but knowing PD...

I just hope they don't screw this seemingly little detail up. They already have so few tracks in-game, but like Suzuka West isn't included as a variation, they could leave it out
