My first car. <3

It is a Quantum H4i with a 1.1 liter OHV engine. It uses Ford Fiesta Mk3 running gear (Engine, Gearbox and Suspension etc) but the Chassis and everything else is bespoke and designed for the car.

If you want to know more about quantum...

Best bit about ownership of this car? Insurance: At the age of 17, insurance yearly is about £450 Fully Comp.

The car was bought for £1850 and has had a LOT of money spent on it by the previous owner, and now by me. Me and my dad have given it the finishing it required when we purchased the car, such fitting new carpets, painting the chassis and calipers, and putting finishing touches here and there. It runs and drives so nicely now.

Next plans for the car? Well, there isn't much left to do, but I would like to replace the seats with something a little more sporty, and maybe look into making a front splitter for the car. (lifts at high speed, also would help to flatten the underneath of the car with panels, so that's also on the list.)

Also wouldn't mind replacing the engine, but that will not be for another year at least. Spring is coming, and my driving test is in a week. Bring it on. :D

That saloon reminds me of a slightly deformed Ford Probe...

£350? For a 17 year old? That's only £100 more than what we pay for a modified Mondeo!

Will be an interesting thread once you get yours.

Must be pretty exciting for you getting your first car, especially as it being a little different to the average teen first car.

So 800kgs, and what sort of power?

Careful, would not trust having a shunt in one of them as they are likely not very safe.

That's an interesting plan for a first car, going straight into kit cars is something I would never have thought of. Sure gives you some uniqueness in a crowd of teens with Volvos, Volkswagens, Toyotas, and Hondas, etc. etc.

In my personal opinion, they're not the best styled vehicles. But I quite like the Quantum Saloon. Probably the only shape out of the line-up to look decently proportioned.

Yeah, it's damn cheap. ;)

800KG, the 1.6 engine should deliver in excess of 100BHP, maybe 120BHP once I put a K&N filter on it.

And they are actually very safe, one bloke I know rolled a Saloon 5 times after being t-boned and he just opened the door and got out!

My dad built a Cobra Replica, so I have been brought up around kit cars.

I think the picture of the 2+2 doesn't do it justice... Here is a picture of the car I may be buying:

That looks like a great deal (I know nothing about that kind of car obviously ).
Not being a kill joy but, depending on how bad the old filter is, your not going to pick up 20BHP. Again, I know nothing about that kind of car, but that engine isn't going to be breathing "that" much air...

Still, should be great on gas milage 👍

The things are restricted like mad and I know I wont get 20BHP, I said excess of 100BHP so probably 110-115BHP to 120BHP... but I will probably end up with an injection set-up as my Dad runs a custom ECU company and specialises on Fuel Injection.

Great deal there on the insurance, how's it that cheap ? I know people with 50cc scooters paying more than that.

As for the car, never heard of it, but it looks much better than the Corsa crew.

The insurance is cheap because you can get it on the Quantum Owners Club.

I guess their reasoning is, you buy the car because you are interested in them, thus you will look after it. :P

And to be honest, Insurance companies make a 🤬 load out of people so it's not like they will lose profits.

Is the insurance £350 per week, fortnight or month?

It'll be a cracker first car if you can get a decent one. Nice choice. 👍

DaxCobra
Month, of course,

And yeah, I hope so. :P

You will (If you buy the car.) pay more every month then my mom does a year on insurance..

3600 a year is quite a lot. Get something smaller (engine size) and you'll be grand.

Update: Bloke with the H4 replied, am viewing both tomorrow, although the White one is now wanted by my step-brother.

If he gets it he could post in this thread too.
