Made a quick highlight video. Well, 'highlight' is a term I would use loosely here. Most of it is just me messing around and trying out George Paris as a drift course for the first time. There's quite a few mistakes captured here, but I'm not to concerned (thats just how I drift on the DFP :sly: ). I really just needed something to satisfy this urge I had to make a vid.

ya, there are a few in there that i will admit to

still getting into arguments with the physics engine on occasion to break the rear free at turn in and not midway through the turn. This is something i'm aware of, and it does show up occasionally in the vid.

thanks for pointing out that others are also seeing it in my vid, and that its not just me

wow, I was just drifting, and it seemed impossible. I almost lost hope until i saw your video, thanx man, I can do it! It's hard drifting in DS2, but it's possible. Let me ask you though, what did you used? DS2 or the Steering wheel?

Good stuff TS. I can see you're getting the hang of that Evo.

I was gonna say.

After watching it for a second time (with sound), I realized that it was done with a DS2.

It's literally 1000x easier than with the wheel, although the wheel is far more precise.

Both have their ups and downs.

dual shock 2

Immpressive! You countersteered well for using a dual shock 2. I liked the 350Z at Midfield most. 👍
Makes me want to put down the logitech driving force pro and give it a shot with the daul shock 2 controller. :sly:

way to represent for the DS2, i think its easier to drift with a controller than a wheel, but a wheel takes far more skill.

wow, you held those super long drifts with a DS2?? i'm a ways off from being able to do that. nice throttle control, too. were you using N1s?

TRi
i use the replay theater. no ghosts there.

I believe he was talking about what mode do we play in. Basically just free run mode. Got to any of the major sections, Original, world, City or Dirt and snow and just choose the track and the way you'd like to run. You can also do this in arcade mode.

to answer questions:

N2 tires on all cars except those noted below:
i used two different sil80 setups
  • one was kinda squishy and on n3 tires
  • the other is firmed up a bit just to prove to myself that you can drift firm suspension (these settings were only used on Trial Mountain), it had N2 tires

the MR2 clip was taken from a race actually - its on stock suspension and some sort of sports tire

the Prodrive Impreza (also race prepped) at the end isnt a drifter, I just liked the jump and it did an 'alright' job of tying up the vid for me. It has some variation of a racing compound equipped
I did these runs in practice or photomode,
you can turn the ghost off by hitting 'up' on the d-pad, hit 'down' to turn it back on (i think, but i might have the directions backwards)

and again, sorry for the file size. Obviously I'm still perfecting my video encoding techniques and settings. The raws were captured in a lossless format with the huffyuv codec, after the first processing they exploded up to 3gigs. 6mins worth of clips occupying over 3gig's of hd space. Be thankful i could squash my 4 minutes down as much as i did.
But, i will work on shrinking the sizes more in the future. Hopefully without noticeably sacrificing any quality - and without resorting to 320x240 as i did in tis case.

thanks for the comments

You tank Nice Video! I have a question you didn't answer... EVO III settings? I need if for y I.D.G.T.S. Thanks in advanced. My settings are basic all i changed is NO TCS OR ASM and lowered it alittle..

Nice work TS. Great video, I believe I had seen the yellow sylvia already on a drift video by itself, but not the other cars.

Guys, I bought the wheel for the purpose of drifting, but I see that some of you say that the DS2 is far better for that? I tried them both, but both were very difficult to get used to. I read the whole thread from TS on drifting, but I still lose control of the car as I exit teh turn and I end up spun out, I hate it! Is it really that hard??

I used the wheel for an hour the other day and it felt very unnatural. That being said, I could probably get used to it.
