GT4 WRS Week 18: "Back-Alley Bandits"

Hello everyone, welcome to week 18 of the GT4 WRS!Posting a bit early tonight, hope you all don't mind. Time to visit the City in the Sky. This week features my favorite, the Mazda Miata. Squeeze it through the alleyways as fast as you can, and watch that paint job!

Arcade Mode:

Time Trial / City Courses

Track :

Citta di Aria (Forward)

Arcade Car:

Mazda MX-5 Miata VR Limited (NA, J) '95

Race Settings:

NO Quick Tune up = +0% HP, -0% Weight (130 HP, 980kg)
Tires: N3 Road (RD) on all 4 wheels
Driver's Choice of TCS and ASM
Driver's choice of AT or MT.

Rules:

Only discuss "T" times!

Clean OLR Standards:
No wall touching!
No wall touching!
Did I mention no wall touching whatsoever?!
The enitire course is considered part of the track; sidewalks, rumble strips and all! Just stay off the walls!
No hybrids
No Cheating of any kind
Save your best "ghost" replay
Submit the time listed in replay file name

Time Verification:
-The division 1 winner each week will be required to submit with verification.
-All divisions of racers are subject to a request of time verification, however, this does not mean all racers will be required to submit verification for each race.
-Once a request for the verification of a time has been made the racer in question must comply.
-Any request of verification must addressed by the racer in question with in 3 days of the request. Arrangements must be made for the replay to be verified within a resonable time period, or the time in question will be removed from the WRS results and/or GTPlanet Times Database.

Deadline: Before Tuesday, August 16th, 8:00am CST
No times will be accepted after Tuesday 8:00am CST = Tuesday 1:00pm GMT

that should be challenging... at least...

130 HP on road tires... that´s as daily drive as you get...

now THIS is going to be a close week... :nervous:

and the momentum thing,. for those who didn´t pay attention will be H-U-G-E...

I forgot to mention if the car does not appear in Arcade Mode, you'll have to go into Gran Turismo mode and buy it, it appears in the Early 90's Used Car lot all the time. Once you buy it, it will unlock in Arcade Mode. (I'm sure you all know this by now

)

Don't forget, no tune up and N3 Road tires on all 4 wheels. And NO WALL TOUCHING!!! :sly:

Incidentally, if anyone gets bored lapping this track while theyre going for a hotlap, and they fancy a change, just go to tsukuba wet with the same car, you could try sports soft tyres, but the weight and power dont really need altering for some serious sideways fun.

Now then, back to this momentum thingie, there are two main places where this will count, the hairpin at the western end, and the hairpin at the eastern end.
But the twistes in the middle will be a killer on roadies too, especially the hop down the hill on the way out!!!

Did he mention, no wall touching!

Im trusting your judgement, because it is a Miata after all Carbon Fibre Miata Man, and i think you may have actually driven this combo before posting it.
We'll see whether i like it or not tomorrow.
Im sure the world wont hold its breath while i concurr.

Just had a MAJOR panic when i managed to kick the misses off the on-line bingo and looked at the main page!

Thought i had forgotten to put clocks back or something, and missed the deadline for last week! lol

I for one have been waiting for this track to come up for ages. And a truely road car combo it is too!

Just to clarify.....
You select 'road' tyre at the fist driving options sceen(when selecting the car), then you have to go into the quick-tune menu and select 'road' tyres again from the 'normal tyre type' options!

Is that correct?

wow, talk about a tough course. The car is not my favorite, but it should be great on this track!!! Good luck everyone. Probably going to be a lot of frustrated people. LOL

slow and boring... luckly we can get that thing to go to 150 Km/H :lol:

but, even though i didn´t like that much of the car, i love the track, love competition, and will take this as a big challenge...

its even nicer when you do good under circunstances that you don´t really enjoy... 👍

Seems nice Todd, you just had to slip in your car sooner or later didnt you :sly:

Please put N3 in the rules so its very clear. I never understood the road and ..... and ..... tires, though ive been known to be stupid.

Momentum will be the king here and i dont think it will be too hard to run clean laps, interesting to see if i can do this track with DFP, may have to switch to the quick steering DS2.

Good one! My favorite track. This combo will shake out the best drivers, Small Fryz, you hit it on the head, momentum will rule!

Good question by Casio...I've seen a lot of MX5's but I don't think I've ever seen the word Miata attached to any of them and checking everywhere for it just then...I got nothing??? The used car lot does have '95 MX5's but not Miata?!? Any thoughts???

they are the same, MX-5 = Miata = eunos roadster, just like Echo = Vitz = Yaris.

In the Pal version the car name is Mazda MX-5 VR-Limited, I think.

I'm not to fond of Citta D'Aria, too claustrophobic for me.

I'm thinking back to "The Ring" where there were alot of mangled TT-R's. I think this week will have alot of mangled MX-5's. Ah well. At least it isn't tuned so I won't be going 200km/h into......er......through the wall. :dopey:

This one should be fun. I reckon the gap between the winner of Div. 1 and last place in Div. 3 is gonna be huge...in the region of 30-45 seconds

not actually to bad, quite slidey in some sections.
