@Bleurabbit7: I've just gotten gold at the S licence Alfa at this course, and the MX-5 is a lot easier to drive. Maybe this gives me a bit of a head start. I'm surprised how well the MX-5 handles under braking!!!

I actually put a lot of time into this race (18 laps so far!) Hopefully I do a little better this week.

T1: 46.980
T2: 1'20.956

Nice, 6o4, I thought my time was nearly perfect too! Guess I got more work to do :P

WOOHOOO!!!

ROAD TIRES!!!

excellent choice on the track and tires

loving it'
Agreed! But this setup is WAAAY better than the Road tires you had us use on that damn mini on the Paris track or whatever, daaaamn I hated that. This combo though doesn't seem too bad at all... I've had a smile on for the past hour that I've been having a go at it...

For those of you who were asking for an everday car in the city! THIS IS IT! I too am suprised by the N3 tires not being as bad as I thought they would. For almost every other car that I've tried, pretty much even the sports tires are too frictionless for me to have too much fun. I guess it's the very low power output? Anyway, it's a great combo...

Lovin it too!

@Vtec, glad to hear it... Wasn't sure at the time though what you meant. And Vexd has stated many times that he wants to be the sole user of CFM name combinations, lol. Oh well...

Oh yeah, splits:
46.233
1'21.125

nearing the limit... lost around .3 in the final straight

0'44.680
1'17.411

That is just sickening!

Over 5 secs quicker than me in less than 8 hrs, AND getting to your limit so quickly!

Way to go bud!

At least the goalposts won't be moving around as much this week, huh?

Gives most of us a 'stable' target time to aim for, even if we don't stand a chance of hitting it! lol

Im under pressure from vexd to start moving up in the wrs now with my near finished wheel setup (link in sig). I need to go and get some laps in with this thing, i've only done like 1 lap so far. I dont mean to sound picky but this car sure does come in some dull colours lol.

should be good, ill play more when either holl01, or veil set something close to it

0'44.430
1'17.313

here's a lap with me,

- right when you take over from the cpu driving, get to the left that leads uphill and stay in 3rd at either around 98-100km/h ~ or 2nd gear if you cant keep the rpms high enough to pull you up
- i cross the line at 113 km/h for my lap
- for the right at the top of the hill, it's a little better to enter slower to alow you to be closer to the wall on the right... so you can straight line the chicane
- then for the downhill right, go in tight to the wall but not too hard which will send you out tooooo wide, you want to be around the middle line in the road, exiting the right at around 58'ish km/h
- cross t1, go in hard, tap the brake after the first left bend, then brake a little more for the 2nd left bend
- brake earlier, for the tight tight chicane
- cross t2, brake half a second after seeing your time
- try to exit the hairpin at around 51'ish km/h
- for the final left uphill corner, this can make or brake your lap ( just like how it can start off your lap )

there are some missing parts of the track, but these are just key areas

yes! Citti di Aria! or however you spell that crazy Italian name :) I just spent about 2 hrs driving a tuned 200hp MR2 spider around this course, just for fun, I was watching a Touge Showdonw on a Best Motoring video and this reminded me of the touge roads the most so I took a MR2 here and it is an absolute blast. it is so much fun that I may just replace CFM's reality with my own and read the car name as MR2 Spider. :)

A more powerful miata would be a little more fun (just about 170-180 HP) but the car is still very fun to drive, AND!

to everyone complaining about a slow car just realize that it takes a better driver to make a slow car fast than make a fast car even faster. (I don't think that really makes since but you get the idea).

BTW if you own a miata have you ever seen the Best Motoring video with the 200HP Max Touge battle, it has and MR-S, EG Civic, AE86, Celica, some other cars, and a great Miata tuned by RS Azaiwa. It had 4 Throttle and made about 170 hp.

also why does everyone think road tires are so slow? the sport soft tires are semi-racing tires (Ex. Advan A048 is what every sport tire in this game looks like)

one more addition, when you are driving this don't think about not flying down the straight and seeming really fast, if you just drive and don't really think about anything that's when it gets really fun, most of the time you will be thinking about how to go faster and all that but when you get to the point when you aren't thinking about anything and you are just driving that is amazing.

long ass post! score one for circa86!

Is there a reason I can't find this car? I looked in Mazda, and all I saw was the 04 models. This is not a prize car is it?

Edit: I'm not too bright. It's in the Used Car Showroom. :hammer:

its a used car, shouldn't be too hard to find. but since it is an arcade mode challenge mileage won't make any difference.

Well, I had a chance to run some laps, here's my splits:

45.215 / 1'18.244

Hoping to get down in the 1'17's at least.:indiff:

This Miata is pretty slow next to my real life MX-5, and the suspension is not nearly as firm. The only reason I picked this particular model is because it was my favorite from the 1st gen models. It was called the M Edition Merlot Mica here in the US, and had some nice BBS wheels on it. Always wanted one.:)

ooh, nice color...
i never liked that body style though... i like the "mini viper" look of the restyled face. but then i don't think i've ever liked pop-up head lights, so that could be my main problem with the old design. Since the rest of the car looks good... i just don't like the nose.

(i swear i'll go on-topic when i get out of work and can actually play the game ;) )

Well, golly G....I'm almost embarrassed to put up my times after seeing the times already posted by some of you folks!

So far, after about a 1/2 dozen or so laps, I'm able to score a:

T1: 50:798
T2: 1'22:190

I'll definitely be trying to beat these times! :)

Relax, Androoos. This week we will be posting on "What did you learn?" thread that we learned that slow racing can be fun sometimes! And that you should by all means avoid to use road tires :D

And it could be worse... we be could looking at a WV old beetle race @ Nurb... times would be submitted using light years as unit.

I hate to be pedantic...(no I don't, I love it :) ) BUT:

A light year is a unit of distance , not time.

Sorry.

That exact Miata is nowhere to be found. It is not in used cars at the moment, maybe it'll rotate in soon, until then I'm using a Miata S-Special Type1 (NA,J) 1995, 130 HP, 1000KG.

Back on page one of this thread CFM said :

"I forgot to mention if the car does not appear in Arcade Mode, you'll have to go into Gran Turismo mode and buy it, it appears in the Early 90's Used Car lot all the time."

Well it is NOT in the used car lot!!

all of the cars that you all seem to love

all seem to be either a race car, or cars on R5's

R5's are so unreal its not even funny

Anyone know when the VR Limited rotates into the used car showroom, or am I really missing my mind. I'm feeling a bit thick at the moment.

Maybe this will help you.Mazda MX-5 Miata VR-Limited '95

Thanks bhawk776, I'm on day 1212, it appears that it is never gone more than 2 weeks at a time, I'll just have to do some driving in GT mode till it pops back in.Thanks again!!

But.......it's a Miata :odd: . Wait, yup it's a Miata. A MIATA!?!?!?! The only thing Mazda ever made worth driving we just drove, outside of the 787B  . j/k CFM, had to rip on this little thing, I'll have to give it a go this weekend. I'm sure I'll have a new found respect for it after running this NIGHTMARE of a track :nervous: :) .

R5's are so unreal its not even funny

Hear Hear!

I discovered this when we were running the SRT-4 at New York. Checking the data I found it could wipe off 140 km/h in about 40 metres under braking. That would only be realistic for an F1 car.

R5 tyres should be banned!!

R5's feel like cheating.

The correct Miata finally ended up in the used cars. I've loved this circuit since day 1, and with the low powered Miata only the best drivers will survive.... that lets me out!

First day splits:
46.766
1'21.235

It's all about momentum ... easy to say, difficult to attain!

R390GT1
Hot with those times I just lost all confidence ill ever have in GT4 :) ...your unbeatable!

i can beat him....hehe

i plan to drive this one soon, but not today or tomorrow, u'll here from me shortly with times that will be better than hotbois 4 sure, i'm very good at citta di aria so i'm gonna win this week, i may sound overly confident but who cares, i will win!

nice early splits there hotboi, so far u have tamed the streets so far in WRS 👍

First 15 laps and I tried my best to keep my momentum up on the very very last straight there in 3rd gear, but it didn't work out that yet just yet. Here's today's splits. I will no doubt be thinking of this one when I wake up, when I'm at work, when I'm [INSERT ACTIVITY HERE] lol. Momentum is key!

T1 - :46.150
T2 - 1:20.137

First hour here, been getting T1's down to about 45.1, but i'm losing alot of time between T1 and T2 as i think the best T2 i've seen is 1'18.8. Having lots of trouble trying to push it and still keep it clean.
