i love this so much thanks CFM, after driving this for long enough the car doesn't feel slow and I just start going after it without thinking of anything at all, awesome,

here's my first session times:
T1- '45.009 (have seen '44.8**)
T2- 1'18.520 (1'17 is so fast!)

pretty competitive for D3 I think, also I figured something out with my setup this week, I use one of those small light wooden tables with the X fold out legs, that used to woble all over if I made in really quick changes, I stuffed my backpack full of heavy books and set it on top and now it is so stable, I can actually countersteer without having to worry about the table falling over!

here's a lap with circa86:

full throttle until I get to that uphill left hander where I lift just enough to get the car through never letting the revs drop below 5500 in 3rd, I don't think going through in 2nd can be faster.

full throttle down the straight with slight chicanes, don't shift into fourth, I keep it in third and make the right turn right when or before the rev limiter hits by letting off the throttle very slightly to keep to the right, for the left turn, use the brakes to turn the car the right amount, down to 2nd and full throttle straight through the chicane. (not taking the chicane straight loses lots of time)

keep to the left on the long left hander in 3rd and brake slightly to stay on the inside of the slight right hander and again on the tight hairpin I stay about in the middle of the track, about at the white line and then brake to turn the car, down to 2nd and full throttle until the tunnel. (going to wide for the hairpin gave me to much speed to cleanly go through the left hander after the hairpin)

for the tunnel I brake progresively right after the car enters as close to the left wall as possible then moving closer to the right as I brake (staying in third) this one takes some practice to get it just right but keep the rear tires of the concrete on the right unless you want to get drifty :)

full throttle for a little bit and brake down to 2nd to turn the car through the tight corners, progresively get on the throttle and have it to the floor before the last downhill right hander, I am redlining in 2nd well before the downhill right,

full throttle down the straight and brake just like hotboi said about a 1/2 second after the t2 times flashes, i go down to 2nd and put the throttle to the floor right when I hit the rumble strip right after the tunnel/arch thing. the car will be at about 7000RPM (it can rev to 7500) for the last hairpin which I either very slightly brake or just let off the throttle to turn the car, keep it in 2nd and don't let the revs drop below 4000-4250 or you will lose a nice amount of time full throttle until the slight left before the uphil left were I let of and the slightly brake just enough to get through again keeping the revs aat 5250-5500 in 3rd

full throttle to the line (unless you feel like slamming into the wall headon after a 44.8
1'18.4 lap)

who knows if anyone will read this but atleast I wasn't bored for 10 min. huh!

HOLY GAJEEBEES!! What a time for Div3. Prehaps you should be in Div2.

Here's my new splits. I cut another 2 seconds off.

try reading my lap guide, I think it is pretty good. but I just love this place and the car this week, I finally feel like the top D1 times are actually feasable this week, unlike most weeks where they are so much faster

I've read your write-up (and hOt's) and will give it a try. I'd follow hOt's, but he's just so damn fast even his write-up are faster than me. :D I NEED to get a MAX drive so I may have the pleasure of viewing everybody's runs.

Did 2 laps around my favourite track, I found out i did not even qualify for GT4 WRS!
Better have a go at that one soon.

No one is forcing you to race, if you hate it so much dont race. btw Have you tried anything remotly powerful on this track, not only is it a ***** to be clean its so frustrating, I once drove a Lancia Delta S4 around this track and even with R5's it was so insane an hard to get clean laps. You can express your opinion thats fine but i think your going a bit to far, I dont need to see 3 paragraphs on why its a crap combo and how CFM has done a bad job thanks :grumpy: 👎

Im not sure if you class me as a fast driver but i happen to like the odd momentum race as it teaches you skills that arnt as noticble on the faster cars. Corner speed is the key, If you can become fast with these guys you will be faster with the fast cars.

yes, i expected some harsh words, but i didn´t know you guys would take my comments as "offensive"... the point of making those comments was because some posts were saying how bad the R5´s were...

it´s because that wasn´t the first time i saw someone not liking the "arcade-like" performance of some race cars... when i didn´t had internet i thought most people felt like me, running mostly with race cars... but then, i found out that was different...
androoos, puck, veil, me and others are the minority, but that doesn´t mean we don´t race normal cars...

@smallfryz - of course i´m going to race this week... i´ll always take slower cars as a lesson for professional driving, but even considering this, it just doesn´t cheer me up... it is a personal opinion, i know that... but hey, i´m not saying CFM did a bad job - we had that discussion about choices with kent in other thread - and we all know that each and everyweek the combo will not be perfect to everyone...

i tried running with a fully tuned Lotus Carlton at that track, and almost everylap was a dirty one, i agree with you on that... just its something that i just don´t know... if CFM and Kent avaliate de difficulty of the combos to make acessible to everyone...

@ppucci - i don´t think i crossed the line on anything... i still think its funny that the car is so weak, but that doesn´t mean i won´t drive, or that i´m putting any blame on CFM´s back... it was a personal opinion... i know everybody has its own POV...

@ vexd - i really know that my english is a :yuck: but that happens because it is not my native language... feel free to correct me when you want to... and, yes i was shifting to first on that big hairpin after T2, but i only did 3 laps, it might not be the best move...

i´ll always race whatever, since its on GT, even not liking the car (i still remember my love-hate relation with the TVR Speed 12 on GT2)

well, maybe it is a bit off-topic, but i just had to explain myself... i thought i was misunderstood in my last post...

peace 👍

Nice times Circa (last week too). I don't think I'm going to be very competitive, but who knows. I've only put in about 12 laps, and I'm a good 4.5 seconds behind you at T2. I really need to get the hang of this lap (not one of my favorites), and the car (also not my favorite).

Good luck to everyone!!!

Relax, Androoos.

ppucci
I don't want to put more fire in it, but fasj, you crossed the line at this one...

First of all, I was joking with CFM about the slow car and the fact that he owns one. Maybe it got lost in translation, but telling me to relax was uncalled for. Someone needs to relax a little, but it's not me.

Second, I dont see where Fasj crossed the line. Is it because we (he and I) prefer faster cars to slower cars? If not, what then?

ppucci
Now back to the program... let's race, people! :)
That's more like it. 👍

ok, just did a lap that i dont think will be beat ~ hear that holl01 =P

0'44.533
1'17.080

gonna send you my replay CFM, theres a really close call with a wall after t1
but i checked in the data analyzer, and didnt see a sudden drop of speed.

Sure you can shoot it over to cfm_todd@sbcglobal.net if you like. I'm gonna try and chase it down however.:sly: Not bloody likely though.:indiff:

You know after posting those splits, holl01's coming back with a 1'16 now, don't you?:)

Fantastic times there hOt604bOi, what's your starting speed? Do you use first gear at all?
After second day I'm at a very beatable

46.355
1'20.688

Very close, I'm only 3.6 seconds behind! I'll get him in the last sector......yeah.

I second that emotion! Are you sure you're not using any quicktune? Maybe running on Sport tires?

Awesome times...

Every lap is beatable, even this lap i have a chance at beating, although it may be small looking at ur previous splits, i still have a shot. i thought that when i saw arco's 6'47.0xx time at the nurb in S16 liscence test, that that time will never be beaten, 5 hours of playing and i got 6'46.995 :) its all a matter of weather u want it bad enough, so i'll dedicate 5hours today and see if i can match ur splits, but i do know that when u say ur time wont be beat, i know ur time is f*ucken fast!!

fasj6418
really, i don´t understand... the fastest drivers here like to drive slow cars under crappy circunstances... at least i know Veil doesn´t like those slow cars, but Curtis loves it and for what i know Holl likes it to...

true i do probably have a better chance at winning with a slow car than a car like say toyota minolta at le sarthe! But any combo that comes up, i have never complained or whinged, i just take whats given to me and have a mindset that I have just as much chance as winning as anyone else does, i agree this challenge is much more technical than previous races, but we need variety and thats what CFM and Kent give us 👍

still yet to drive but will make an extra effort to get some time in after seeing hot get so far ahead...

When I see a T1-46 seconds(My time) To a T1-44 seconds I cringe and cry in a corner. Im probably gonna be eyeballing my TV for hours upon hours untill I get a clean lap :nervous: 👍

WB EX .. Yes I still am around, and racing. I try to keep tabs on everything and assist Koly with the leaderbaord when I can. I try to stay out of the "flame" discussions though.

I know I am still a slow person, and I try each week to get better, just seems I am losing that same ground as you all improve also. /sigh But I keep trying. Will get on this soon, been very busy here in Japan latly though since we had a big Friendship type event this past weekend, which we open our gates all day to our host country.

Ah, now I know what the problem is!

Having checked this thread yesterday and seen the road tyres, I went and had a go last night.

Found the car, the track, no quick-tune--check, tyres road--check.

So why am I running 1'22s at T2? Because I'm on N2 instead of N3.

Does anyone else find the names given to the road tyre compounds inconsistent? It says one thing on the car selection screen and something else in the quick-tune screen.

Of course, I don't believe that bolting on N3's will get me down to the 1'17s but it'll help :)

now on to the racing:

10 laps or so today, first splits:

T1: 46´286
T2: 1´21´003

found out that one hard brake cost me at least one full second... i guess this week is going to be better for those with the DFP, because of the smoothness of the wheel

it could be worst (my splits) but loads of time to be found... i suppose to get a perfect lap i need to shave 4 seconds by my T2... that´s not gonna happen, but i´m curious to see how close i can get

-edit-

@VTracing... mine only says economy, confort and road on the quick screen, where did you found N3?

maybe i´m lost :dunce:

The screen where you start your laps, with the menu selection along the bottom (A-spec, B-spec, Replay, Quick-tune etc..) it shows the car details at the top, and under tyres it always has "N3", "S2", "R5" etc instead of "Normal Road", "Sports Medium", "Racing Super Soft"

At least that's how it is on the PAL version.

Right, can someone clarify for me then, please? We've to use the "Road" tyres under the "Normal" tyre type, not the "Sports" tyres under the "Normal" tyre type...

i.e. we've to pick this:

and not this:

I've been running on the "Sports" so far...

Use the ones in the first picture, NOT the Sports, YES the Roads.
Circa, please double check this on your screen as well. Because if you're really moving that fast with no weight reduction, and no hp increases(after how many hours?), I'm going to cry.

Times go down very slowly. Enough for tonight, I'm getting sloppy.

46.295

I'm confused again :dunce:

I can't remember what the names of the tyres are, but I am pretty sure that N3 (which is what CFM says to use in the first post) are the softest of the normal tyres. I would assume that would be "Normal, Sports"?

I don't have my PS2 here to check what they say.

CFM, help.
