Just to clarify for everybody that's confused, this is the Tyre rundown

Normal Tyres

N1 = Economy
N2 = Comfort
N3 = Road

Sport Tyres

S1 = Sport Hard
S2 = Sport Medium
S3 = Sport Soft

Racing Tyres

R1 = Racing Super Hard
R2 = Racing Hard
R3 = Racing Medium
R4 = Racing Soft
R5 = Racing Super Soft

This week we are running on Normal Road (N3) tyres. Hope this clears everything up.

Well it looks like I'm going to need lots and lots of practice on this one, new car and new track for me! :ouch:

I think I will take the car to motorland driving park for a while, just to get the feel of it before I try again. I seem to be loosing far too much time here. (Maybe its time to dust off the DFP!) 💡

Any way, don't laugh at my splits :yuck: I will hopefully improve over the week. 👍

T1: 0'47.871
T2: 1'24.006

@CFM Although we choose what tyres etc. to use at the first screen, we still need to go to quick tune and choose road tyres from there? I ask this because the settings from the first screen change back to default when you go into the quick tune option.

Good luck all.

So, from my screen shot, Normal - Sports are what?

amp,

All I can assume (and I can't check this at the moment) is that the PAL and NTSC versions have different names for these tyres.

But, so long as it says N3 on the main screen (where the session record is displayed) you are ok.

Can anyone confirm?

My list is for the NTSC version. It appears to be different for you. You are PAL correct? Right now, all I can say is use the tyre setup in your first pic.

Actually, it says RD (road) in the main screen, as well as the hot lap replay. (Euro PAL version...) :ill:
And geeTeye, you're right. The tyre choice changes back to default. I've had it happen to me a couple of times.
Damn, all these little bugs are starting to p!ss me off...

Tell me how am i supposed to beat this T' time. :crazy:

💡 i must do the voodoo thing. must have voodoo.

This is mine:

Well ok, something must be wrong with me. :sly: The Tele & Kitten crew were able to get a clean run on the first try ? Not the best so to say but think that was quite an accomplishment.

T1 ~ 48.932
T2 ~ 1' 26.661

yes, that´s for NTSC and at the replay screen it will appear (RD) that´s the N3 that PAL people are talking about...

bah... nevermind me :P

just wan't to get home tomorrow and beat the crap out of this combo. Big chance that I get my maxdrive by next week, and therefore fasj's maxdrive as well... :)

Well...FINALLY got to have a crack at WRS this week...been tied up with my students who've been working day and night on robots for a competition we entered today that they won, yay :)

Some pretty eye-popping splits from folk this week, I'm very intrigued by the holl01 vs hotboi battle too, can't wait to see the outcome of that one. My first clean lap has resulted in these splits:

T1: 0'46.608
T2: 1'20.666

Not spectacular but I'm not well suited to this week's combo, but that's not gonna stop me giving it my all, I'm gonna be aiming for a T1 of 45.xxx and a T3 of 1'19.xxx.

And after looking at hotboi's walkthough...how...the hell...do you pass the start/finish at 113km/h!!!!!!!!!! My goodness, I am motoring up that straight giving it everything and the best I saw was 104?!? 👍

<off-topic>Oh and holl01, I just got my motor mag and checked your comment here ... after watching your lap I was stunned but how does someone get a 7'02!!! Wow.</off-topic>

Catch ya later Double Ewe Are Esses

This is a tough combo, but I'm starting to enjoy it (when I'm not punching my pillow and throwing things :P).

So far, after about 20 laps and a lot of frustration:

T1: 46.4XX
T2: 1:20.69X

There is so much time to be made up on this track, but it takes me about 4 laps before I finally get a clean fast lap. :crazy:

well, finally had time to take a few runs at this.
was able to get up early and put in 2 hours before work.
I'm thinking this has gotta be alot easier with the DFP. Considering I only use full lock on the DS2 in 4 corners... would be nice to have all that extra resolution on the wheel vs the itty bitty analogue stick.

my best lap so far:
T1 45.503
T2 1'19.243

I got so close to the wall i had to use photomode to confirm that i didn't rub it. photo
if the mirrors were any bigger i would have lost one. ;)

fun event though... i'm actually surprised at how good the n3's are... i was expecting the car to be alot more tail happy on those downhill corners. Its actually quite well-behaved.

Speaking of photo mode wall touch evidence, has anyone actually captured a photo with the car actually touching? I'm pretty sure I've hit walls (El Cap comes to mind, out of the tunnel and down the hill) where I've checked photo mode and it LOOKS like there's a gap, but I definitely touched...

Just curious,

good question... out of curiosity i ran a quick test, went out and rollercoastered that wall... and yeah, you can see the contact in photomode.

in this one (the same camera angle as the closecall) the camera is one of those freaky ones thats actually IN the wall.. and the car is definately touching.

alittle farther down the wall, i took overhead shot where its pretty obvious that the front wheel is eating the brick.

The only way to really be sure about touches is to use the analyzer graph. Go to the area in question, zoom in as far as possible, and look for a downward spike between .5 - 1.5 MPH (more at higher speeds than this week). That is a telltale sign of a definate touch. If you think the touch my have occured during braking, look at the slope of the speed graph, and if it drops slightly faster in one section while you're braking, it's a touch. Anything that has a sharp spike to it is almost always a touch. It was easier to see in GT3 since you could watch the replay and the graph at the same time...why did they have to change it?👎

Agreed! That's one feature that should be enhanced instead of replaced! 👎

i love this so much thanks CFM, after driving this for long enough the car doesn't feel slow and I just start going after it without thinking of anything at all, awesome,

here's my first session times:
T1- '45.009 (have seen '44.8**)
T2- 1'18.520 (1'17 is so fast!)

pretty competitive for D3 I think, also I figured something out with my setup this week, I use one of those small light wooden tables with the X fold out legs, that used to woble all over if I made in really quick changes, I stuffed my backpack full of heavy books and set it on top and now it is so stable, I can actually countersteer without having to worry about the table falling over!

here's a lap with circa86:

full throttle until I get to that uphill left hander where I lift just enough to get the car through never letting the revs drop below 5500 in 3rd, I don't think going through in 2nd can be faster.

full throttle down the straight with slight chicanes, don't shift into fourth, I keep it in third and make the right turn right when or before the rev limiter hits by letting off the throttle very slightly to keep to the right, for the left turn, use the brakes to turn the car the right amount, down to 2nd and full throttle straight through the chicane. (not taking the chicane straight loses lots of time)

keep to the left on the long left hander in 3rd and brake slightly to stay on the inside of the slight right hander and again on the tight hairpin I stay about in the middle of the track, about at the white line and then brake to turn the car, down to 2nd and full throttle until the tunnel. (going to wide for the hairpin gave me to much speed to cleanly go through the left hander after the hairpin)

for the tunnel I brake progresively right after the car enters as close to the left wall as possible then moving closer to the right as I brake (staying in third) this one takes some practice to get it just right but keep the rear tires of the concrete on the right unless you want to get drifty :)

full throttle for a little bit and brake down to 2nd to turn the car through the tight corners, progresively get on the throttle and have it to the floor before the last downhill right hander, I am redlining in 2nd well before the downhill right,

full throttle down the straight and brake just like hotboi said about a 1/2 second after the t2 times flashes, i go down to 2nd and put the throttle to the floor right when I hit the rumble strip right after the tunnel/arch thing. the car will be at about 7000RPM (it can rev to 7500) for the last hairpin which I either very slightly brake or just let off the throttle to turn the car, keep it in 2nd and don't let the revs drop below 4000-4250 or you will lose a nice amount of time full throttle until the slight left before the uphil left were I let of and the slightly brake just enough to get through again keeping the revs aat 5250-5500 in 3rd

full throttle to the line (unless you feel like slamming into the wall headon after a 44.8
1'18.4 lap)

who knows if anyone will read this but atleast I wasn't bored for 10 min. huh!

yes i´ve read and i like it 👍
it will sure help me this weekend when i play some serious hours...

lap descriptions are always welcome

gonna send you my replay CFM, theres a really close call with a wall after t1
but i checked in the data analyzer, and didnt see a sudden drop of speed.

I checked it out, and it looks like a touch to me. When you are braking into the tight part after T1, the second time you apply the brakes the rear end is coming around on you and the rear bumper just taps the wall. If you go into the data logger and find that section of the track, and zoom in to the absolute widest setting, you can scroll frame by frame. Under normal braking, you'll lose about .3 or so MPH per frame, but at the point of contact your speed drops from 70.5 to 69.6 in one frame, losing .9 MPH which is where the tap occurs. The giveaway is that you are letting off the brakes a bit at that point also. If you watch the replay very closely, you can even see it in real time in chase view. So personally, if it was my lap I'd regrettably not submit it. Which sucks because it's really a brilliant lap.:indiff: Take a look on your end and see if you agree with what I'm seeing here.

This maybe a dumb question..but I just realized something....
well..besides the fact that I can't read...but...

The car of choice is listed as "Mazda MX-5 Miata VR Limited (NA, J) '95"

However, I don't see this specific car ANYWHERE!
Not in the Mazda showroom (New & Classics) nor in the used car showrooms. (I & II) and I'm over 50% complete in the game? Please tell me this car goes by another name in the NTSC version...please! :)

(I seem to be using a very similiar car..Mazda MX-5 Miata S-Special Type I (NA, J) 95'...specs: 128hp & 115.72ft.lb of torque....I saw (NA, J)95' and just immediately thought that was the right car!...told you I can't read! :) )

Thx-

That sux if you have to burn days waiting for that car to show up. I think I remember seeing a list somewhere that had cars and what days they were available.

I'm using a gamesave with all cars from Z so I didn't have to find it.

If you have a MAX drive and an extra memory card, I highly recommend it!

it should cycle through on the Used Car 1 showroom soon... Someone posted the link to when it is available a couple pages back... 👍

Thanks for the heads up!
I'll go back through some of the previous pages again to see where I missed that info!

Much appreciated!

edit: I found the link where it shows what days the car is supposed to show up, however it stops at day 406...I just checked my game info and I'm on day 1307, so hopefully sometime before now & next Tuesday, it shows up & I can get some more racing in.

If you buy 3 sets of wheels from the wheel shop then go check the Used Car Showroom I it should be there, that is if you are still on day 1307 and my math is right. :sly:

If not then just keep buying wheels until it shows up. Hope this helps you.

I will double check I am using the right tires but I am positive so don't get your hopes up! :) Like I said earlier, I spent about 2-3 hrs driving an MR-2 Spyder around hear just for fun, I did so many laps without stopping it said replay save finished :)

I've read your write-up (and hOt's) and will give it a try. I'd follow hOt's, but he's just so damn fast even his write-up are faster than me. :D I NEED to get a MAX drive so I may have the pleasure of viewing everybody's runs.

hotboi puts all of his replays on a site in his signature I think, and you can usually watch them with media player.
