I only found that out late last night. I have been running the week on N2 tyres, no wonder my times were so slow. :banghead:

My new splits after 5 laps are:

T1: 0'47.324
T2: 1'22.186

Now that I have the correct tyres, I'm sure I will be a lot more closer to the other times. šŸ‘

Well what the heck is it then? Normal, Road or Sports (in arcade)?

In arcade mode, I've been picking Normal > Road

That's what N3 is in arcade right?

UMP, after choosing your tyres in Quick Tune, accept the settings and then check to see if N2 or RD is shown on the screen. (Next to HP and Weight figures I think. It's on the top right of the screen where you choose to go to the "Quick Tune".)

Hope this helps. šŸ‘

i hope that helps me... i want to believe iĀ“m running with the wrong tires... i never experience such a bad week like this... my splits are no where near what guys in my division are doing...

the first chicane, there is no fu***** way i can do it at full speed... to those who managed to do this, HOW? what speed are you in, before turning? did you brake before?

:nervous: :nervous: :nervous: no idea what to think, my car always slides to the wall when i try to pass that section full speed...

then, the last turn, i brake just after the first left hander and try to get a good exit speed for the uphill... well, iĀ“m always passing at 95 - 100 at best in the finish line... once again, tha car always slide and hit the walls when i try to turn...

:nervous: :nervous: :nervous: what am i doing wrong, please!

thereĀ“s something very wrong with this... i know i donĀ“t like this type of car or tire, but iĀ“ve played GT long enough to know that thereĀ“s something wrong with my lap...

anyone who can put an imput on this, thanks already...

iĀ“ve read both hotboi and circaĀ“s lap descriptions but canĀ“t duplicate what they are saying... take that first chicane at full speed seems impossible...

i want to think i have the wrong set of tires, but i think not... i select road at the main menu, and in the quick tune, thereĀ“s also a selection of road (RD) so i canĀ“t put sports... really donĀ“t know whatĀ“s wrong with me this week... :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: never seen less than 46Ā“2 and 1Ā“20Ā“7

help!

Ok, today will be the first day I'll have it with this combo, and all of this tire and car history confused me. When I get home, what shall I do:

1st) to get the car? Only in the used lot? Which lot does it usually appear? What is it's name in the lot (I've read the name is different in the lot and in the arcade game). With what frequency does it appear?

2nd) to choose the right tire? How it will appear in the quick settings combo boxes?

I am using NTSC.

Regards!

1st) buy it in the used car 90Ā“s

2nd) at the main screen, select normal, then road... at the quick tune screen, just confirm that your car is equipped with road tires (RD)

3rd) if you manage to get a fast lap, please let me know, iĀ“m totally lost in this one...

Ok, just wait for my saturday morning report. šŸ‘

CFM, thumbs up for this combination, it's very enjoyable!
The lack of power of the MX-5 when going uphill punishes you when you exit corners not smooth enough or too slow. The track itself also leaves very little room for error.

I've got a clean lap about which I'm 50% happy. The fast laps i did after that (well, at least for me they were fast...) all had small hits in them, so the challenge is to drive fast AND clean. :ill:

@fasj6418: IMO you can't do the first chicane full speed. What I do (mind you: D3-style here :) ) is lift throttle before the righthander, turn in as close to the wall as possible and brake and turn in to straightline the chicane...

Good luck and don't be negative about your performance with this combo so far šŸ‘ šŸ‘

Well, had a nice hour session last night...

Who is using 4th gear at the top of the first hill? I bump the rev limiter when I get the exit of the last corner right. Crossing the line at 68-69 mph.

T1 46.008 (was 45.888, and I can do 45.4-5 regularly)
T2 1'19.684 (was 1'19.933)

Bettered my final time by 1.4 seconds! Really must've got the last corner right this time, wrong last!

Oh, and BTW, DAMN YOU D3'ers and your 1'18 times! What gives? :^)

-Scott

After reading this entire section and trying some hints and tips, I have gotten my times down to:

T1: 45.897
T2: 1:20.201

Those are my fastest sectors, but my fast lap is still almost a second slower because it's the only clean one.

glad to see you got your first split into the 45's; keep it up šŸ‘

Started off today using the green car, first lap I beat my best time by .6 seconds. Scientific

proof positive that the green car is faster then purple!!

45.920
1'19.602

I'm finding this first race (only joined today) quite difficult although I have been trying to get a quick lap for ages!
My fastest T times so far are:
T1 0:46.720
T2 1:21.793

I'm gonna stick at it though and try to improve my lap. ;)

I have to say, even though I've only been a member of WRS for 1 day, I've already started to improve my driving by looking at the tips and tutorials.

EDIT: (BTW, Can someone clarify what the name for the '95 Miata is on the PAL version? Because I'm not even sure I'm using the correct car.)
Cheers. Rad

Mazda MX5 JR limited (NA,J) '95

If you don't find it in arcade, you'll have to buy it in GT mode first. It shows up in the used cars, but you might need some patience, because it's not always there... Once you bought it in GT mode, it'll be available in Arcade mode.

You can easily check if you got the right car, because it only comes in two colours. A kind of bordeaux (which looks very much like purple) and a kind of rip-off racing green :)

By the way, now that I'm posting: my time so far
T2: 1'21.348

How you guy manage to take the last left corner at 92 or more km/h is beyond me. Max I got it was at 80 :indiff:

@Radicalry00: The car you need to use in the PAL version is the VR Limited MX5. I found a site that says how often each car shows up in the used car lot and this was about 61 times if my memory serves me correct. So I had to cycle through the lot a few times to find it, I found this was easiest by just buying all the cheap cars in the Early 90's lot until it appeared, took about 19 cars I think.

The easy way to know if you have the right car is that when you select it in Arcade mode you only have two colours to choose from Purple and Green.

@OnlyMe: You are using the wrong car, I'm not being rude, just want to make sure you don't void your lap.

And as for tyres, just pick Road/N3.

Righty-O!!! Might put in a few laps...it's a tough one this week!

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure if I was using right car. I'll keep a look out for it in used car section. :)

@MisterWeary: It's cheaper to just buy rims instead of cars. It gets a bit expensive at the end of the day.

Yes!! I've just done a few races and the used car list was updated and there it was, the Mazda MX-5 VR-Limited!!! Yes, I can start making some hot laps now. :sly:

i did the even cheaper way... ran the DTM checking the lot after each week.
made 3mil cr while waiting for the miata.

Just bought it... used photomode to pass the time. Well, all that I can say for now i sthat my best T2 was 1:25.bla so far... hehehehe :)

T1: 45.020 (would have been my first 0'44.x.. so close)
T2: 1'18.178 (almost 1'17.. made some mistakes in braking)

Made another mistake at the hairpin after T2 that probably cost me another .2. Tough to go fast in such confined spaces, but an enjoyable drive. šŸ‘

Tough is definitely the right word Z. I just spent an hour or so not even getting within a second of my ghost so I don't know that I'm gonna improve on it.

But I have also just checked my lap for cleanliness and I have one question mark over it. The very last left hand kink before the run to the finish. I've checked it on photomode a thousand times and this photo below is the closest I can see it coming to the wall:

I don't want to submit a dirty lap so Kent, CFM, am I able to send my lap to either of you guys for verification? I'm on PAL by the way, if you're unable to do it I know holl01 has PAL so could I send it to him since I doubt my driving style will benefit him in any way :)

I would call it clean just from that pic. I am sure you, like myself dont wanna cheat yourself in WRS. Sometimes its just that close man, no worries. I would like to take a look at it if I could Weary, I have a chipped ps2 and I can play GT Prologue just fine, I wanna know if I can view a PAL replay, so if u wanna send it to:
jumpace@jumpace.com
But I may need a PAL disc of GT4? We can try it just for the hell of it...

Thanks for the offer man, I'll just see what CFM and/or Kent say first, if they're happy for me to send it to you and holl01 then I'll do that...just wanna do it "by the book" so to speak :)

Thanks again šŸ‘

@ppucci - First off, both taken in 2nd gear. for the first hair pin you wanna start out so you are next to the edge of the sidewalk there on the left and try your best to keep it above 30+mph at all times. Think of your approach as 'increasing the radius of the turn' meaning, yes its a tight little corner, but that is only if you use the inside of the turn, there is the whole left part of the turn before and a little extra on the exit (watch out for that wall tho!) So take your approach wide (increase the radius of the turn) and the apex is right on the edge of the rumble strip. A key element is keeping the car in total control before this hairpin, no tire squealing. As for the second hairpin, much the same. Be sure to have control of the car as you go uphill and start a little to the left and keep the car in 2nd and try to keep your mph above atleast 26mph or so and don't try to cut in too deep too early as you will hit the wall on the right, try to achieve a late apex here and keep it smooth; no tires screaming like little girls. Hope it helps/makes sense!

It would have helped if I'd had it wrong ;) šŸ‘ Thanks for the tip but it turns out I've been using the correct tires after all - guess I'm just a slow poke...

Been trying this one out in manual to help myself around those hairpins if I screw up, but I'm not practiced enough with a manual to get a clean lap - think I'll switch back to automatic and at least get a clean lap...

I'm close to posting a 47.xxx at T1...

Oy, gonna get spanked this week...

Me and Kent both have NTSC so we couldn't help you there. If you're unsure, use the analyzer like I mentioned and look frame by frame for a sudden speed drop over one frame. Just zoom in as far as you can, and you'll see each frame. If you see speed dropping suddenly from one frame to the next, that's a touch. Smooth steady speed drops in very small increments are just from sliding a bit. Downward spikes are touches. Also look at whether you are using brake or throttle, etc. If you have a dirty run saved, look for a touch using the analyzer in that one so you can see what I mean. I'm sure you'll figure it out.šŸ‘ The picture you posted is surely clean but what happened right before or after is the question.

Thanks for the clarification CFM, I have never seen or used the analyzer though?!? Where is it???

<edit>
Sorry...I just found it, and it looks as though I'm in for some more hours of racing :guilty: in one frame (10cm of track) it went from 95.6km/h to 94.0km/h how very very very disappointing...*sigh*
