Big block and small block V8 owners of all types may want to take a second look the next time a "V6" Mustang pulls up to the light as Carroll Shelby International Inc’s wholly owned subsidiary Shelby Automobiles, Inc. announces the new Shelby CS 6 Mustang concept vehicle. Shelby Automobiles, known for speed and performance through the leadership of legendary racecar driver and Cobra creator Carroll Shelby, will offer a modified V6-engined 2006 Ford Mustang, dubbed the CS 6. Packed with a NOVI-1200 Supercharger from Paxton Automotive Corp., the CS 6 is destined to be the next great sports car from Shelby Automobiles pumping out an incredible 350+ horsepower. The Shelby CS 6 will be introduced at the Vortech/Paxton Booth during the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.

The CS 6 features a Shelby-exclusive Paxton NOVI-1200 Centrifugal Supercharger, unsurpassed in high performance, reliability and quiet operation. The bolt-on NOVI-1200 is based on Paxton’s race-proven gear case, helical-cut gears constructed from billet-steel, aerospace-quality high-speed bearings and an air/water charge cooler. The CS 6 will be one of the most powerful supercharger kits for the V6 Mustang available on the market and its 350+ HP is a significant increase over the 210 HP of the stock Mustang and the GT version.

"Shelby Automotive is excited to offer the CS 6 with a focus on balance, performance and affordability," said Amy Boylan, President of Shelby Automobiles. "With the Paxton Supercharger, the suspension modifications and the subtle cosmetic enhancements, the CS 6 will remind enthusiasts of the old GT350 — fast and strong but light on its feet. There is going to be a lot of excitement from speed aficionados when the CS 6 hits the market."

2005 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Paxton-supercharged Shelby Mustang legacy dating back to the famed GT350 and GT500 programs in the late 1960’s. In 1965, Carroll Shelby fitted a prototype Paxton Supercharger to the GT350 starting the Shelby/Paxton relationship. Eleven total Paxton supercharger kits were installed by the Shelby factory and a number of additional kits were sold to customers for retro installation. The CS 6 stands poised to continue the great Shelby/Paxton tradition of producing consummate performance-modified autos.

The Shelby CS 6 is racing-styled in the custom of great Shelby cars from the past but updated to create a unique and modern design. Among the interior and exterior modifications to the CS 6:

Stage 1 - Appearance Package
Side Scoops
Exclusive 20 ’ American Racing Wheels
Shelby Front Fascia
Custom Upper and Lower Grilels
Hood Pins
Rear Logo
Dash Plaque
Door Kick Panel inlay Set

Stage 2 - Performance Package
All Stage 1 Parts Shown Above

Available in the first part of 2006, the Shelby CS 6 will be sold through Shelby Automobiles Las Vegas headquarters and a national dealer network.

Now, is this is a mod for the standard V6, very impressive. Not that I like Ford at all, but the new mustang is a decent car. I'm surprised they didn't go for the GT's though.

They did go for the Mustang GT, it's called the GT500. 👍

Shows you how much I know about American muscle cars. :dunce:

Ok now that's a hot car, I love that color. I'm surprised they didn't turbo it though with it being a V6 and all. Still pretty good number for a V6 though, 350 ponies will show em how to run.

Not liking the wheel choice. So many people complain about a busy bodykit (this one's on the edge) and overlook the wheels. They're too much, in my eyes. Something simpler would look far better, and in black...

I think its great they are making a fast V6 version but I think it looks a bit too flashy for 350hp tune and like exigeracer I don't the wheels on it.

Hmmm... nice. I've always liked the balance and feel of lighter engined cars. Wonder how much weight the supercharger adds?

@Blazin': c'mon, this is Shelby... a supercharger is the only way to go...

Ya true, but I'm guessing you'd get 400hp outta a turbo system.

Problem for me is this, it's a freaking 4.0l dear god get some juice out if it...350bhp is rather weak considering Nissan and Toyota (with the IS) can get nearly that with .5l less. While I really like the car I'd rather just buy a V6 and add some twin turbo kit or a huge supercharger and get easily 400bhp+. But that's just me...

ponies are poines, wherever they come from... and if there's anything Gran Turismo teaches us, SC is as close as you can get to NA...

But seriously... if that can come in (with the mechanical package only) at under or around the price of the GT, it'd be worth it.

Poverty
Id want 350 ponies NA.

And that absolutely highlights my point. 350bhp Naturally Aspirated > 350bhp Forced Induction. It's 4.0l of displacement-and they can't get 300~350bhp naturally aspirated? Seems they are taking the cheap and easy way out. I'm not taking anything away from how it looks--still looks great I just disagree with the FI choice.

Despite what you may think about HP vs. Displacement, 300 hp still costs money... that "underpowered" 4 liter six is a way for Ford to keep prices for the base model down.... and given the big displacement, it's relatively easy to modify.... Waitaminute... I'm an import-lover defending a dumb-mestic engine?

Yup... it is the cheap way out... and it works. :D

Gads, I looked at the date on this thread...it looks like I've been buried under a rock in the automotive world! I'm sorry to bring up such an old post, but if anyone's interested in turning their Mustang into a CS 6 (and has the cash to pony up to even do it) it's through this site.
Their cost for the complete conversion kit to make your 'Stang into the CS 6 is $14,999.00 + $75.00 S&H.
Talk about parts markup. The cheapest I've seen so far for a brand new V-6 'Stang is $19,000.00 Add the price of the conversion kit, and it comes to about $34K. Still...not too bad for a beasty-looking and one beast of a car.

Well said. And, as much as I don't like Ford, it looks like it is a way for Ford to look out for the little man.

Probably like a screaming banshee when she's at speed! I'd like to pit this thing against a 1987 Buick Grand National GNX.

Now that Ford gives the GT-H to Hertz, they need to come out with a flagship Mustang that you can buy. No, the GT-500 doesn't count. They need to come up with a good flagship Mustang, like the old ('03) Cobra or SVT Cobra R.

With a proper rear suspension you mean? Anyone want to place bets on whether Ford will actually do that? :D

Me! Me! I do I do!
Tell you what, I'll hold my breath, and then.....
I did some reading about the Mustang redesign before the car went on to the showroom floor, and given Ford's love for the new setup they've done for the live-axle...

Well, yes and no. You see, the funny thing about the SVT Cobra and Cobra R was that not only were they faster in the curves, but (here is the funny part) they were faster going straight as well, which I find odd considering they were down by 120 BHP on the GT500.

Although it seems that the Mustang is the only thing that they have to work with, and it is really hefty, I say they give something to Lotus to work with again. They did wonders to the GT, critics all over kept saying 'Is this really a Ford?'

Why not do it again? Even with the Mustang's weight, I'm sure Lotus could pull something off..

pun intended

If that pulled up next to me at a light, I'd still be laughing. Not because I was gonna win the race (far from it...), but because some idiot spent $5,000 (maybe more) over the price of a Mustang GT for 50hp and the Shelby name. Given that money you can probably get a Mustang GT supercharged to at least 400hp.

I'd almost be willing to bet that a stock GT would beat this V6 anyways.

At my job a lot of Whipple Superchargers go through my line. They weigh between 75-120lbs. Take out about 8 lbs., of packaging and that whats added to the weight on the front.

Damn, those things weight almost as much as my entire engine.

I've heard that the SVT crew actually tested IRS for the GT500... what teases. They should release it as an aftermarket part.
