Okay, Sonzilla had the idea of compiling all the ideas from the Things You Want In GT5 Other Than Cars thread into one whole thread that could be stickied, so that the ideas wouldn't get repeated constantly. I got to page 20, so there may be a few missing. But I'll add them on later (or you can all just resuggest them). So if this could be stickied that'd be cool, GT5 wishlist for cars, everything other then cars then a stickied wish list of tracks maybe?

I skipped the ideas about added cars etc seeing as the whole point of the thread was about everything OTHER then cars...tried to add all I could in, if there's any missing it's not because I thought they were stupid ideas, it's because I've been at it since 3am.

Oh one I did miss out...pit babes and grid girls...dudes...just buy a copy of FHM and get your rocks off on that lol.

&#183;Crash Dynamics - visible and repairable damage, even race ending damage

&#183;Day to Night and Night to Day transitions through the longer races, 24 hour races in particular

&#183;More then just sunny days, full weather transitions along with the ability to switch to wet tyres etc to fit these weather changes

I agree 100% with everything you said! You should be able to do real burnouts (in rear-wheel-drives) by holding the gas and brake, thats how you do them in real life. Also, i hate when you're trying to powerslide and you quickly press the handbrake, but it sends you into the wall with your wheels locked up!
 
How about being able to purhcase different fuels? Say ummmm, Aircraft fuel? 125/140 Octane! It's available for race cars in the real world!

It's a compilation of all those ideas so people don't keep repeating the same crap over and over and so if someone wants to read it they don't have to trudge through 60 pages of ideas only to find a lot of it is just people arguing about one idea or another.

Also this could've been stickied...don't see why this list would be any less important then a cars wishlist.
 
All I ask for is one thing: true-to-life car sounds. NFS:MW managed to pull it off fairly well. C'mon PD, take it to the next level.

Nope, in real life you have a system installed in your car where you dissconnect the rear brakes when you press a button, a bit like a handbrake but it locks the front wheels only instead of the rear. Then you do a burnout. A system like that has no place in Gran Turismo, it has nothing to do with any form of motosport, drifters don't use them, drag racers don't use them, road racers don't use them, off road racers don't use them ect. All it does it lets you burnout until your back tyres explode. Also you do not powerslide with the handbrake, the handbrake is meant to lock your rear wheels,it's what it was designed to do. You can initiate a drift with the handbrake but not a powerslide, and drifting takes practice to do.

Looking at some screenhots of Gran Turismo HD, it looks like there will be 4+ cars in 1 rally race, thats crap, there should be a set time to beat in rallies.
 
I would like to see a way to pause an endurance race, kinda like when you are between races in a championchip series in GT4, where you can shut off the system and continue the race where you left off but you have to complete the race before starting another one.

How about the classic LeMans running start for maybe a 24hr endurance for classic racecars?

And also I would like to see reverse lights, and like in Enthusia when you pause in the middle of a race and you are in the third person camera the 4-way marker lights flash...thats cool!:sly:
 
Woah! awsum thread! I would like to see your garage get bigger as you progress. At the start you start of with a ok garage and then when you get into more races, get more cars, more sponsers etc you. get a larger garage with mechanics, dyno etc. Or how about you can put your car, say in HKS tuning garage and they do up the car to your requirements or how much money you are willing to spend
 
Some really good ideas there. BBut also some fairly average ones IMO. Eg. I don't want it to take 15 minutes to run 1 3 lap races due to some of the new ideas. Good thread though keeps it all nice and ordered

Actually, the device you are talking about is referred to as a line lock, or roll control. It is a solenoid plumbed into the front brake line to hold pressure while the pedal is released. Drag racers use them for burnouts, and sometimes staging. However, you are correct in that it really doesnt serve a purpose in this game.

Yeah after you revise it into categories this needs to be stickied.

I mean the other thread hit over 1200 post's about the same thing SOUND SOUND AND SOUND.
 
I wish they could like mix it with TT and add in bikes. Also I wish that they could let you be able to select wings from the manufacturer.(I.E. On the 2002 STI it has a low wing, you should be able to change it to the other big one like what mine has)

B.T.W. In my GTO I just hold the gas and brake and it burns-out, but I have to turn off TC with the button by the shifter
 
I dont think damage would be a good idea, I mean damage doesn't add any cool or enjoyable stuff to the game.
However, that option would be nonesense because most of us now how to drive without crashing into everything, damage options would only annoy GT-newbs. :indiff:
Its just totally useless, I mean, wow you have a damaged car so what?

Thats as useless as the refresh option and the engine wear thing in GT4....:yuck:
 
Its not really useless, because it will make your car perform better. It stiffens the body and makes it turn much better. Try it yourself, go buy a used car and drive it, then refresh it and drive it. It will drive MUCH better.
 
Damage creates an extra dimension to the racing, the whole action/reaction effect takes on a much bigger role when damage is included. Personally I would love to see damage make an appearance in a GT game along with an in car view.
 
Some of the ideas i really agree! but, do not ditch the 24 hours races, and B-Spec, but drivers stamina okay totally fair but not a-spec, its you that is driving so you know how long your stamina is. Commentators naaah, not my thing and a 3-d garage, a LOT of loading time i tell you. and damage YES! you should have on/off device for this. But i like your ideas totllay fair :D

I like realistic features in a game like real life physics, real life engine performance etc... but that stuff is just kinda annoying. :indiff:

I have no problems with damage included in GT4 but its useless....but for driving just for fun it may make sense, but I dont crash enough to make damage that useful.

However, if its included or not, I dont care too much about that feature but PD should spend that time for more cars!:dopey:

Well GT4 is a simulation, so PD tried to make it as real as possible with things they consider "necessary"

But its still strange, if I wanted to make a simulation engine & chassis wear would be the last thing I would think about..:rolleyes:

However, somewhere I read a post that GT5 will have real damage anyway.
 
A more organized dealership. New would be the entire current lineup, and only that. Classics would be the best cars from at least two decades ago. Special models would be all the tuner cars, concept cars, and racing cars. Special models would be concept cars and racing prototypes if the idea below is added.

Trim choices. The car you select is the base model, and then you upgrade it as desired. You would have the base model, the performance models, the tuner editions, and the racing editions.

No replicas. Because the game itself creates digital replicas of the cars, it isn't necessary to have digital replicas of real replicas.

No vans, and a limit on trucks. Trucks would be limited to sport trucks. The Ram would be limited to the Rumble Bee and Daytona. The F-Series would be limited to the Lightning. The Colorado would be limited to the Xtreme. The Silverado would be limited to the SS.

More racecars. Every car used since 2000 in the Speed WC, ALMS, Grand Am, Rolex SCS, DTM, ETCC, V8 Supercars, and BTCC.
 
how bout V8s that actually sound like V8s??

even in GT4 some of the cars sound like utter crap. I hope by GT5 they get it right.

Being able to use all different on board cameras seen in racing on TV...the centrallly positioned WRC style on board cam, the Nascar style roof cam, wrc style roof cam, BTCC style passenger seat cam, bonnet cam, and when your in the drivers seat, should be able to adjust seat position etc. Which brings us onto the whole thing on driving side, should GT5 have a cockpit view, when we buy road cars, we should be able to choose LHD or RHD versions of the car.
I also think something like Forza, you choose what country you live in at the start, so for me England, and from there you could have say a local track, for example id have Silverstone, then that being the track that primarily your race team is based or the circuit you can instantly access for test runs. Then say you wanted to buy an Australian car that cant be bought in England, for example FPV GT, you have to pay extra for it being an Import and conversion to RHD etc.
Also following on from the selecting where you live thing, in a championship when you come to race on your local circuit, so for me Silverstone, you could have a small video indicating its your home race, shots of the crowd and stuff, maybe even a louder crowd, something that makes your home race feel like your home race.

Sound is big. The Cuda sounds wayyy different in real life than in GT4. But I think my burnout/smoke accumulation idea still stands. I can do a burnout in any car with enough HP stock. Just turn off TC, Rev it up, punch it, wait for tire squeel, then gently apply a little brake and full throttle. Its easiest with a Dual Shock 2 controller.
