I would also like point-to-point races (especially rally races), and some time attack then... Not that 1 vs 1 races it's no fun, because you can't overtake that good on the small roads

I support a separation between classes, but a separation between cars of the same class? I support separating Group-Cs from LMPs, but LMPs from other LMPs?

Removable, changeable racing numbers available for all cars. You can choose between soapstick numbers on the windows for the amatuer track day look, regular round or square plates (black on white or white on black), or just black/white numbers put directly on the cars. They could change with each race so (so you don't race another #4), and should be able to be placed wherever you want on the car, and be customizable.

I'm with the customisable soundtracks. Upload your own choice of tracks on the game from CD (That way Polyphony don't have to mess about with licensing and shtuff). Also! How about some real music when you're in the menu? I mean, this pseudo-jazz shtuff's gotta go! A 40second track being repeated over and over again? NO!

Tracks, hmmm, how about some rural roads? Windy country roads with different surfaces?

Choice in the time of day you want to race?

Remember when you had Two seattle tracks? Bring the short Seattle back!

More information about the tracks. What the street names are etc?

Oh yeah, and fix the sun in Seattle. It neither rises nor sets in the North!

Lots of great suggestions up there, some not so great but if it all goes in we can ignore the bits we don't want to use (Am I the only one that thinks Photo mode is a waste of space and time, but at least I can choose not to use it).

Looking at some screenhots of Gran Turismo HD, it looks like there will be 4+ cars in 1 rally race, thats crap, there should be a set time to beat in rallies.

Rallies, yes, but Rallycross, like Cathedral Rocks I & II are a mixture of tarmac & dirt with up to 10 600hp+ Fiestas, Escorts, 911s etc.:) :) :) :)

My bugbear since GT1 is to be able to take any car in your garage, at pretty much any state of tune and not get a challenging race easily. Something like the synthesizer in GT2 (might have been called something else) but with more scalable difficulty than that did. Maybe using A-spec points by putting in the number of points you want to have eg 200 and it gives you equivalent opposition.💡

Also like to see proper power and torque curves back again, the ones in GT4 don't cut the mustard.:grumpy:

Also, why have such variations on power depending on the screen you are in. If I have a car with 200hp, why does it show up as 185hp in the garage, 190hp in the settings screen, 205hp in the replay etc. OK, published power figures in the showroom can be different, we all know about the gentlemans agreement thing in Japan and the reality.:dopey: But I want to see what my car puts out. This one is probably a bug though so I'm going easy.

More stats - Yes I'm a stat freak:sly: . Fastest lap per course per car. overall lap records, highest speeds etc. Most successful cars by wins and win percentage.

Finally, a better way of penalising bad driving, or fix the 5sec penalty thing. I think its the Swiss Alps Normal course or something where the opposition immediately goes right on starting, whacks into you and you get a penalty for flooring it and going straight ahead. :ouch: A proper damage model could be the answer but has been discussed ad nauseum everywhere, but until the AI can properly distinguish blame in the event of a coming together then a penalty system is not going to work very well. :dunce:

Almost forgot, all tracks and [whisper it in this thread] cars from all previous GTs, and to be able to race on them in proper races. And I mean all, not the GT4 version of all old tracks (wheres Red Rock, Tahiti (not the maze), Smokey Mountain etc)

EDIT: oooo just had a flash of inspiration 💡 💡 💡 💡 Similar to one of the other ideas posted, but how about that you get invited to take part in races that are in the right power range for your type of your car, and also your ability level based on licences held and gold licences passed. Saves having too scope out the races in advance to make sure they aren't too hard/easy which is what I waste a lot of time doing.

In GT4 the replay screen is the cars maximum power, ie with a fresh engine and fresh oil and good run in. The power in the settings is measured in PS, this is a bug and it doesn't matter what units you chose to view power in in the options, it's always PS in the settings screen. In the garage the power is how much power your car has at that point in time, ie with that oil and that engine wear ect, that is what your car is producing.

mud tracks (car sinking physics, etc)
puddles (making the wet courses a bit harder)
better wall collision (stop the shaking camera!!!!!!)
better engine sounds (probably above somewhere, sorry if this is a repeat)
and maybe even get paint SCHEMES for cars (probably unlockable things)

i think i have 2 words to add ROAD TRIP! im thinking they should have a rally (gumball rally?) that is 500 miles (or more) long and you go at your own pace and why not cops just to add some fun?

and another thing is on the damage of the car, i remember in the need for speed series the cars would all have the same kind of damage hitting a wall, i think a porshe can hit a wall doing 35mph and possible move a way but a ae86 at that same speed will be crushed into the wall and wont be moving any time soon. dose anyone agree with me?

how about oil spills on the track...or if there are trees overhanging the track leaves will fall and float away when your car flies by.

One thing I would love is a Semi-automatic gearbox, like the Aston DB9 has. Infact I would like to use it on any car.

Mr.M
and why not cops just to add some fun?

No, please... NO COPS, Gt is about racing, not crime :| theres too many "quick lets use NOS to outrun the police" games already... I think.

QFT! 👍

I remember in GT1 how you used to do a race and you would be able to see the other cars and how much power they were making since some were aftermarket, this is in the before race screen.
I'd see 240hp civics etc.

And also, in that trailer posted, the car sounds are much better, but im not sure if its anything to go by. I think many of these suggestions are going against what GT4 is about but hey, each to his/her own.

I was just reading through the old thread and noticed a small debate about engine damage/failure. I wonder if it would be worth having it, having it able to be on/off, or even have a setting where it only occurs when the car is abused - like redlining for too long. Or, in place of actual damage, maybe 'old oil' style horsepower loss. I know many people don't agree at all with having engine damage, but I think it would be worth having the capability there for those who do want to use it.

Speaking of old oil, it ticks me off in GT3 how over the long races your oil wears out and you lose HP, while if you watch a replay, every AI car in every race starts off with 0km on the clock and (I'm guessing) full horsepower. What the...?" Come on PD, either give us the capability to service our cars and change the oil between races, or put the same restrictions on the AI cars as we have...

Thinking of that - it would possibly add a bit of time to the playing of the game, but if you did have engine/body damage in the game, then you'd want to set up a between-race repair time, Colin Mcrae Rally style.

I'd also like the ability to change tyre types and such at pit stops (especially relevant if there is variable weather... torrential downpour on slicks, anybody? Or while you're at it, turning intermediate (wet weather tyres) to little balls of melted rubber once the track dries out... I think this would be quite good for online or multiplayer races - you can win or lose on tyre and pit strategies.

It's been mentioned before as well, but on endurance races in real life, the car setup is maintained/altered in-car: things such as brake bias, torque splits with active differentials (especially rally cars), sway-bar and suspension adjustment, etc. All of these are done on the fly. If you're doing a long race, I think you should be able to do the same. A 'change settings' screen in the in-race pause menu would be the easiest way to do it in 'A spec' mode.

Just some thoughts.
