While I still think the Cayenne is mostly pointless, this looks much much prettier, in a Mazda RX8 meets Volvo XC90 kind of way. Apparently, Porsche finally got it into their thick skulls that the 911 "corporate-face" doesn't fit on an SUV.

Those rear lights are just red tape to disguise the real shape, you can see that the rear lights are the same shape as previously, probably just moved stuff round a little.

Gut-damn it... good call. Damn on Porsche for getting my hopes up (as I actually like Volvo tail-lights).

From the looks of it, Porsche should carry the tape over into the production version, then...

Whatever the point of the Cayenne is, the idea of seeing one at cruise speed renders me puzzled and nervous, and this facelift helps its looks abunch.

Headlights are a great step-up from the previous Cayenne; they look much more like a true Porsche.
But as for the tail-lights, I hope they can make it look more like a Porsche like they did with the new headlights. They simply don't fit in with the rest of the car's appearance.
All in all though, well done Porsche for realizing their mistakes and trying to fix them.

If they had truly realized their mistakes, they would have discontinued the Cayenne, and simply stayed away from the SUV market.

Right, because producing one of the most-capable SUVs ever made, both on- and off-road, and raking in enough cash to not only keep the company afloat but also produce the Carrera GT, Cayman, and Panamera, return to racing with the Spyder RS, and purchase an increased stake in Volkswagen, is a monumental mistake.

Haha, Owned. +Rep.

I liked the Cayenne the way it was. Did Porsche hook up with Volvo in trying to make this a better-looking machine? There's a difference. Volvos can be lovely (most newer ones are). This... ISN'T. I think the front is okay, just that the headlights don't really look like anything of Porsche's. I want to see the lines to see how it would look for some other cars. It's one of the disadvantages (to me, anyways) of seeing cars in black- we don't get a really clear view of the lines of the car as opposed to stuff like silver or red or royal blue. It isn't UGLY, just more un-Porsche in design than the previous Cayenne design.

I'm giving it a high, but low approval rating. It's getting 70% approval from me.
