:: GT4 WRS Week 96 ::
Rally race at Tahiti!:)
Whoohoo! Arcade Rally!
4WD Roadcars at around 200HP

I personally don’t like Tahiti Maze, but that won’t stop us from running there this week. :)
Your first impressions when you see this week’s selected car might give you cause to doubt my sanity. However, before you do that, just take her out for a lap or three and give her a chance to prove herself. This car is a rally icon of the 80’s and this is my tribute to the Audi Quattro. Another reason for picking this car is the amount grip it has on dirt with -10 weight, together with a modest 239HP, thus making this combo a great rally 101 combo.

Well you can count me in, I love a chance to roll around in the dirt 👍

Some splits to start with:

T1: 0`45.883
T2: 1`27.029
T3: 1`59.392

👍

Gave it a good effort before bed. Other times were my best lap that I narfed the end :ouch:

T1 45.172 (44.8)
T2 1'25.062 (1'24.7)
T3 1'57.857 (1'57.4)

Now I watch myself shuffle down the leaderboard :)

hey, this looks like an awsome combo, this will be my last gt4 combo apart from the BC, i'm continuing university studies, will get back with some splits soon

You're leaving?

When's the next BC, anyways?

Track-impressions: Overly complicated and repetitive. I really think they should've scratched that course and take GT3's Tahiti. How many hairpins can one do in a row?

Car: Swift handling. Pretty good for a '80s car with horrorible weight-distribution and ancient, all-time AWD...

And Leaderboard Updated

More combo updates: Need help. Left-foot braking: Effective or not? It seems to be very usefull in some of the cases with this car, but won't work well on some corners...
Currently loosing about 2 seconds on Colby in the hairpins - 0'47 on T1, yet T3 is still 2'01... Yet, the course has an easy flow - three hairpins, left-sweepers. Hairpins, tarmac. Easy as pie.

EDIT (another one): Had to throw away a couple of laps with a 1'26 T2 👎

Majorly addicting combo there! Also glad we used a cheap roadcar rather than a rallyracer, because I'm short on credits - and the enduros & DTM get me DREs...

First session:

0'45.937
1'27.146 (what a crappy T1-T2...)
1'59.402

EDIT: Improved again, can't bother to write the splits down twice - they're on the leaderboard. Had an average T1, a pretty-good T2. On the middle of the three hairpins before T3, I lost a lot of time & momentum - yet, magically, I carried out so much momentun out of the next hairpin that I gained 0.4 over the ghost on that corner alone.

Thanks Jerry for picking this combo,it's been to long since I seriously drove on dirt and Tahiti will be a new experiance as I didn't do to much laps on this track...👍

Will post some splits soon!:)

My first save has 44.828 / 1.24.224 / 1'56.055 ... I expect to take chunks off these tonight as I was pretty sloppy with the lower gears in the tight turns at the beginning of the lap ... a low 24 T1 will help ;)

Cracking combo yet again Jerry 👍

Edit: 44.579 / 1.23.591 / 1.55.368

Edit again: ... 44.360 / 1'23.308 / 1'54.701 .. still a lot of sloppy hairpins to clean up 👍

You hear that Dan? GTManiac may do this rally race too, ready the popcorn its gonna be a good race!

Jerome

Good thing it's not the reverse track, or everyone would be doing drugs! (If someone doesn't know the reference, will someone else tell them? I'll be too busy enjoying this awesome race!)

44.040 / 1'22.918 / 1'54.222 👍

I think I'm hooked :P .... this is a wicked combo ;)

I'm not great at rally...

I've been getting around 46 sec for the first section.

Stick at it PB, this rally is setup nicely for those who wish to learn how to drive rally. 👍

About your splits; In order for your split times to be recorded in the leaderboard, you will need to post the full split times of your current best lap. "around 46 sec" just won't do it 👍

Enjoy.

With all these hairpins you are really spoiling us Jerry :dopey:

Managed to get a clean banker lap 👍

45.165/1'25.344/1'57.101

Back to the dirt!

I realize that, I was just giving an average. I dont have any times recorded yet.

Back again with some small improvements

45.244/1'24.586/1'56.142

Enjoying this combo 👍

I can't wait to try this one, I've been impressed with your combos Jerry, I don't care what Ron says  j/k....

Jerome

Last laps for me tonight and I'm at ...

43.975 / 1'22.818 / 1'53.831 .. ( seen T2 of 1'22.6xx and T3 of 1'53.6xx and stuffed it :( )

will try again soon 👍

If I beat anybody (and that includes Div 3) this week, it will be a miracle. It took close to 20 laps to get one clean one.

T1 - 0:46.453
T2 - 1:28.082
T3 - 2:01.550

Edit - Fresh times:
T1 - 0:45.981
T2 - 1:26.668
T3 - 1:59.485

Nobody will ever accuse me of being Colin McRae :)

Man this is tough, I driving to the best of my abilities. There's lots of turns where I pull a little ahead, but lose it at the next. If only I could string all those "good" turns together somehow.

I just restart everytime I touch the wall or get so close that it would be tough to tell.

Did a little reccy tonight ... nothing clean yet, but what a fun combo :) Well chosen, Jerry. Looking forward to a great race :mischievous:

0'44.5 / 1'24.1 / 1'55.5

This one is addictive, great combo Jerry 👍

T1: 0`45.276
T2: 1`25.222
T3: 1`57.148

Hopefully another second for me 👍

Well the car and its gearing totally sux imo, no low end torque whatsoever and shifting gears from 1st to 2nd? Hahahaha......tough combo but I'm I'm not feeling it (yet).
