Despite what some XB360 fans might not want to admit, the PS3 has many exclusive game titles now, and far more announced for future release, most of which are even from independent and 3rd party developers.

For the interest of PS3 owners, and those considering a PS3, I thought it might be helpful if we had a dedicated thread with lists and updates on all known exclusive, timed exclusive, and lead game titles that are either out or going to be released.

I'm not a big gamer, so I don't follow all the development and updated lists of exclusive titles, but to get this thread started, I'll use the info included on the Wiki List of PlayStation 3 Games:

Could someone fill me in on what a "Timed Exclusive" is?

A timed exclusive is a game that is exclusive to a certain system (due to contracts, strained development, or some other unknown reason) for a certain a mount of time. Virtua Fighter 5 is a good example – it came out last February for PS3, but it will also be appearing on the 360 towards the end of Summer.

Also, another future exclusive: Motorstorm 2.

EDIT: D-N, here's some links to help you out:

Mark down Virtua Fighter 5 as a timed exclusive.

Oh, and put down Resistance: Rise of Man as a future PS3 exclusive as well.

Is there any info for R:ROM, or did you just make that up?

Well, it's not been officially confirmed, but Insomniac said Resistance is a series and thus will have future sequels. "Rise of Man" isn't really a confirmed name either, but that is what everyone's speculating the RFOM sequel would have as its title.

Nice list, although many of the Japanese games i haven't heard of but driver 5 surely wont be exclusive? and FIA World Touring Car Championship i thought thats what GTR was?

Ahh thanks Duck.

Just looked over the list again, and all of the Capcom PSN titles will be on XBLA as well, and thus won't be PSN exclusive.

http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/900/900198.html

...And GripShift and Tekken 5 are also on PSP, so technically they're not PSN exclusive as well. fl0w is a PC flash game. And Calling all Cars isn't out yet. ;)

As for future PSN games, Joust is on XBLA as well, so that's not exclusive either.

Anyway, did I miss anything?

Duck... did you forget about the EDIT button, or are you just trying to test how far you can push the envelope on consecutive posting?

(I'm only kidding of course, as I actually think re-editing the last post just to avoid a double post is a flawed rule, as there is no notification that the last post was updated, and what was added, like there is when someone adds a new post - thus lots of useful information could be easily overlooked, unless you are in the habit of contantly checking to see if a post was edited, and if you can tell what was added.)

Thanks! So do you have anything from Capcom saying they will release these at the same time? Should I move them to timed exclusive until we know for sure?

Calling all Cars isn't out yet. ;)
Neither is Lair, but they are so close to release I didn't think it would make you get your panties in a twist if I simply placed them there now, rather then change it in a few days any way. ;)

BTW: Speaking of Lair, www.gametrailers.com has several new video clips of Lair, and I must admit, I'm slowly becoming interested in this game.

As for future PSN games, Joust is on XBLA
Thanks! BTW: Are these all the same ports from the original arcade game, or are there some differences? I used to play the arcade game a lot when it was in the arcades. I have an emulated port of it on PC, but would be fun to have it on the PS3, especially for 2-player, which isn't any fun on a PC!

Silent Hill 5 is multiplatform. So is Soul Calibur 4. And Heavy Rain. Killzone 3 hasn't been announced, and is nowhere in sight. A Final Fantasy 7 remake is only rumored. The three Cellius games were actually mockups, and only one of them will be given the green light. And is "EyeToy" even a separate game? I thought it was a camera attachment.
Well much of that I got from the sites you referred me to. :)

Considering how confident you are in your statements, I assume you have some actual official comments from each of these developers that will support your assessments? If so, please share them with us, so I can update the list accordingly.

Thanks Duck. 👍

Yes, I did. Good grief.

*breathes*

OK, that's it for now.

:ill:

Actually, recent Silient Hill 5 news suggests it will probably be PS3 exclusive, and it's only a possibility, given the install base, that it will go over to other consoles.

Also, SCIV hasn't even been officially announced, let alone has it been confirmed to be multiplatform, you simply pulled that out of no where (oh wait, does IGN have it on their list? yea, must be true then...)

As for flOw being a "PC flash game" ... come on, how far are you really reaching? The PC Flash game is NO WHERE NEAR the level, or even in the same league, as the PS3 title. Period.

And since when does CaC not being out yet matter? Come on, what are you really trying to accomplish here, this is getting ridiculous.

Thanks! So do you have anything from Capcom saying they will release these at the same time? Should I move them to timed exclusive until we know for sure?
Well, all I know is that Capcom announced them on their Gamer's Day event thing, and announced it for PC, PS3, and 360. So I assume they'll all be released on the same day like with any other multiplatform title.

Well, I think the game elements are HD optimized, so things look clearer. But other than that, and the fact you play it on your TV instead of the computer or arcade (and get nickel 'n dimed), there really aren't any differences.

Thanks Duck. 👍

Actually, I just checked on IGN, and SH5 is still PS3 exclusive, but yet it's not officially announced (so that'll need to go under the rumored section). :ouch:

Heavy Rain still seems to be decided, but there's a 360 and PC entry on IGN for it, so there's a decent chance it'll be multiplatform. I can't find any official statement about it being on other systems, so it looks like it'll stay as an exclusive for now.

Soul Calibur has been a multiplatform series (only exception is the first Dreamcast game), so I see no reason why that wouldn't follow the same trend.

EDIT before posting: mistaken again. I thought 3 was multi, apparently not... but nonetheless, it's a decent sized possibility. Since it's not even officially confirmed yet, looks like we'll have to mark it down under Rumored Games.

Killzone 3 seems to be a misconception. The first Killzone was of course on the PS2. There's also a Killzone series spinoff for the PSP, but that seems to be a sequel to many people, so naturally people would think Killzone PS3 would be the third installment.

Although some multi-platform releases are timed exclusives, and/or lead titles for a specific platform.

If you come across any confirmation on the status of these titles the from Capcom, or a reliable 3rd party source, that would help.

Thanks again for all your research efforts, they will really help in keeping these lists as accurate as possible. 👍

OK, let's view the flip side – do you have any confirmation that the Capcom games are time exclusive to PSN? :P

No problem. :)

Duck - I wouldn't count on SCIV being multiplat, since the Soul Calibur and Tekken arcade cabinets will be built using PS3 technology (i.e. RSX and Cell).

Ah, thanks for that. 👍
Well soul calibur was on the gamecube, so why not the wii?
The same reason why tons of multiplatform games are sticking with the PS3, 360, and PC: they don't want the hassle of having to completely downgrade the game so the Wii could handle it. And even if those multiplatform games did go through that hassle, few people would even buy it because most people who own a Wii already/will own a next-gen system.

I was reading about the yet named new PS3 exclusive from Tecmo, and it got me wondering what the latest news is on Rock Star's unnamed new PS3 exclusive game series, combined with still seeing occasional claims on the internet about the lack of exclusive games on the PS3, it made me curious how the slate of current and future PS3 exclusive games has panned out over the last couple years.

So with a little extra time on my hands I decided to update this old thread. I've gone ahead and update the first post, but for a general count:
  • 135 Exclusive Games Released
  • 55 Upcoming Exclusive Games
  • 53 Rumored Exclusive Games

The ps3 has loads of exclusives. I think the thing is Sony has massive 1st party so 90%+ of exclusive games come from 1st/2nd party. But with Microsoft there 1st party is almost non existent and they spend there money buying exclusives/timed exclusives from 3rd party. The latest being Mass Effect2 and will it wont it come to ps3. But Microsoft as far as i heard signed a 2 game deal for Mass effect. And hence the internet noobs etc think Microsoft are getting the exclusives when in fact all they're doing is making up for there lack of 1st party. Maybe Sony should disband 1st party and buy exclusives instead?. Incorrect perceptions would change?.

I like how Joystiq worded the article. Exclaiming that is has to be some sort of an "affair" to create a Sony exclusive game.

OMG!!!!!!!!

I would DIE if they released this in the States! :scared::crazy::nervous::eek::bowdown:

If not, I could always play it on my PS3. It's not Region-Encoded, right? because that's what I heard.
