Exiting drifts with Trueno AE86

Currently drifting with the Trueno. Pretty good. Just one gripe with it.
When i exit a drift my wheels (back) seem to not get grippy again and still spinning madnessly and spitting out smoke. RPM rise however and kick into 4th gear where the engine stalls.
I have an NA kit under the hood and riding Economy tires.

Tips?

You said the back wheels spin, but is it only one wheel or both. If its one, then you should buy a FC LSD,since you have an open differential on the stock car. If its both, still get a LSD and maybe work on throttle control :indiff: And one more thing, I read that you said the car "kicks" into fourth gear, so Im guessing that your using auto.💡 Switching to manual will give you more control over the engine and speed, so you may want to consider that too. :)

Actually thats my bad.
I meant to write '' and I kick into 4th ... ''
I think its both of the becuase the smoke seems to be comin from under both wheels.

if your car doesnt seem to regain traction, reduce yourr throttle input. It's as easy as that..

Yes, but by reducing Throttle Input toward the end of the drift seems to make snap-back allot worse... (i hope i know what i'm talking about, it happens to me)

YO might want to keep it in 3rd instead of bumbin it up to 4th. my reasoning is that it will still spin and you probably will just nock it down in a few seconds anyway. the actual spining can be corrected by what others have already said. good luck man.

As the car begins to straighten out, reduce throatle some and choose a gear where your as high in RPMs as you can be without redlining. Once the car has straightened out, get back into the throatle.

I see... And I was just saying In General...

im not sure but i think the reason u get the snap back when u reduce the throttle is because of how u counter steer. i use to have the same problem with counter steering and throttle control but i jus kept practiceing nd it worked. im still not good at drifting but i can drift through most kinds of corners except hairpins, still have a hard time with that. well neway bac to ur problem. do u steer completely to the opposite side? cuase u need to have proper throttle control nd counter steer. if not u spin out or have snap back as far as i no.

PLEASE DONT use slang such an neways ur and u
proper punctuation is a bid thing to, I >'< m "D"o
You know? thanks.
When the time comes to exit, get straight then just "un-tap" the gas for a moment, it will already be straight, so no snap back.

all other things, you could use the E Brake.👍

I have been driving my 86 for about three years and the best remedy for sliping at the end of a turn are these.

1: At the entrance of the turn keep your rpms at the "sweet spot" the point between your peak torque and peak hp. This will make the car more stable and even more likely to pull itself through the turn even if you are at too high an angle.

2: I learned this when I was drifting my 240sx at the back roads of my house. Time and time again I would lose traction in the rear wheels until I tried alternatly pressing and releasing the gas pedal during the turn and according to my speed. After I had the same problem with my AE86 at any level of tuning I tried the "gas tap", dubed by my friends, and it worked. The trick is timing it so that you are able to keep you rpms up enough at the end of the turn, thus timing your taps to the rythem of the drift.

Hope that helps.

it sound like your camber setting, like try making your camber lower like (example-1.5-2.6) or it might be your tires try n3 and it might be your throttle control.
