BEHOLD!!! The purple wall ...

I have a computer room which is actually quite large, 14' x 12', with a 'notch' where the door is, so that wall is actually 16' long but its neighbor wall has the closets ... well whatever ... I have a 16' long wall with nothing but a power outlet on it.

When I moved in I painted it a nice purple, my favorite color, and planned to frame and hang my black and white photography on it. HA! That costs money and takes lots of time. I have a new plan which is already in action.

I'm gathering up a BUNCH of my photography, both color and black & white, and scanning what was film or prints, and copying what was already digital, and printing it all out on our color laser printers at work. They do a pretty good job for what it costs me ... NOTHING! (: Then I'm mounting (gluing) the prints on 'fomecore board' which is like 1/4 inch thick foam board samiched by two sheets of paper, all black. Then I put two more riser blocks behind the big board so it'll stand out from the wall a bit. Cut out the pictures so they're frameless and attach it to the wall with rolled over scotch tape and the pictures look like they're floating a half inch off the wall.

Hey that looks pretty good! I like the way you laid the pictures out. And I see you've got the X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and the Millenium Falcon there too!

Wow, that looks great Loud! 👍
Nice shade of purple as well...:)

Wow, this was surprisingly well received (: That makes me very happy, thank you guys very much.

I've had the purple wall for nearly two years now. I like it very much, and yes it is quite soothing to sit in that room. Another two walls are a light green and the last wall is a yellow.

I do enjoy photography quite a bit. I need to get out and take more pictures and also print out more of what I already have. I like my mounting technique, though not original, it is customized to my liking.

Yes I do have a collection of Star Wars Legos. There is a brand new AT-AT in mini-figure scale that I figure I'll be picking up after I get my new glasses paid for. It's pretty cool looking > LINK. In addition to the ones in the picture I also have the Star Destroyer and the Rebel Blockade Runner.

I need to get out and take a lot more pictures, but I'm going to need to get my own digital camera first. For a pocket cam I'm getting the Sony DSC-P10 5MP camera and 256mb stick. Then I need to get a telephoto lense and a bunch of film for my Nikon N80. Wow, so much to do ...

Well, IMO, i think the room looks GREAT.. but it'd be better took away the shelves and stuff there... cuz that wall is used for ur self made photos right? If they are, why don't you use those photos and try to create a bigger COMBINED image of all the photos?
I dunno what I'm talking about.. like

Putting all the pics together to form one LARGER pic. You will feel very successful when you do that.. =) I wish I could go around snapping pictures like that... lol

That would be more of a collage of images. I like the seperation and purple space inbetween them. Though I am planning to move the shelving and Lego stuff.

Purple Rocks! Lookin' good there Loud! So when can we see a panoramic view of the entire room? ;)

Pretty sweet. But i think you should move that book shelf, it does take away some attention from the pictures. ;)

BTW, OT, i hear that moving all your furniture about an inch away from the wall also makes the room look bigger. :)

I need to do the panoramic ... but the room needs to be cleaned first (:

Yes yes, the bookshelf will be going away soon. And I do agree that keeping furnature away from the wall is a good thing, though I do it for a different reason. I don't want my furnature beating up my pretty walls (:

You so RULE!!! Purple is my favorite color, and always has been. My room is currently purple. (Well, as much as you can make it without painting the walls...) Purples, blues, and greens. Coolness!

Wait a second ... are you a girl? That brings our female GTP population up to something like seven! So you dig my room, eh? A girl friend of mine (note the space between girl and friend) thinks my wall is pretty darn cool as well.

umm...so far as I know...(Or have been told by another girl) there are only THREE of us...(Gah! Out numbered!)

Unfortunately there are more than three.

I like the room a lot, Loud. I'm not a huge fan of purple on my walls(hey, it's better than pink - which we had on a wall in our old house), but if I had that same picture set up I would prefer purple over white. I also like the way you have those pictures arranged on the wall.

I swear, I need to get more girls into this site...My friend Elianna is very interested...I believe she called one of you a "Sexist Pig"

I believe that was me.

Please don't invite her here if all she's going to do is gripe about guys, and relationships, and other girl stuff. We've already got enough of that.

And what, pray tell, is wrong with more than three girls?:odd:

More than three girls ... it starts getting too expensive? (:

I'm also going to do pictures like this on my walls at work (maybe just one wall ...), but I want to paint it DARK RED first.

In bed? Nothing.
On an internet forum? The 79 girlie(mostly guy/relationship related) threads they start per week.

In the new house we're getting, i get to paint my room any color I want. *hint* Purple. YAY! I want the walls to be a kindof light purple and my ceiling will be light blue with clouds all over.:D

Ahem.

Any way you could have seen fit to post those three statements together? Or perhaps gone back and edited the first one, since no replies came in between? Thanks.

Nothing wrong with more than three girls on the forum. It can't be worse than the 79 how do i drift threads that get started per week.

On the original subject, Loud, I think the wall and picture mounting look great. Elegant and clean, really focusing on the images themselves. Nicely done.

Thanks man. I wanted the pictures to seem to free-float just off of the wall. It really makes them jump into the main focus of the viewer.

That's cool. My 3.5 year old nephew's bedroom has a skyblue ceiling, but no clouds. I would recommend a bit darker color for one wall, and then different lighter colors for the rest. That way you have a focus wall. If you put your bed opposite that one when you wake up in the morning it will be the first thing you see. Then cover it with pictures of your friends and you'll have a smiling morning every day.
