LoudMusic, very nice wall. Great idea as well as photography.👍
I've got a question. That purple color, is it pretty relaxing? I would think that that shade of purple or a dark borwn would add a very relaxing and comfortable feel to a room. Dimly lit of course. You're smart, what do you think? I've been wanting to paint my room, and a relaxed feel is what I'm aiming for.
I work for an advertising agency and of course there are a lot of artists there. Many of them have quoted information they recieved from their college days when they took courses completely on color.
If you're looking for calming colors to sooth your emotions stick to neutrals like tans and browns, light greens and light blues. Things like bright red usually flair up your energetic emotions like anger and general discomfort (I still want a red wall
).
The colors represented in these pictures aren't really very close to my walls. At least, not on any monitor I've ever viewed them on. The purple is rather gray and the green is like those bitter green apples. I
greatly enjoy my purple wall. It is one thing in my life I am honestly proud of. It is very pretty and definitely easy on the eyes. Before I put pictures on it it was mostly bare, with a small book case (in the picture) which had little on it. Even then the wall was pleasent to just gaze at. It calms my relentless headaches and eases my sore muscles just looking at it.
Now, I know that sounds crazy. "A color of paint effects you physically? You're daft." It's more than just the paint. The color is nice, yes, but I put my energy into the wall. I wanted it to be nice so I researched a little and found something I really liked. My sister helped me narrow it down to something 'real world' that would look good for more than the initial "WOW! Purple wall!" effect. After I bought the paint I asked my best friend if he would be interested in helping me paint the wall. We had fun slapping on two coats and, country fella that he is, had enough interesting comments about my choice of color. Then when I finally got around to adding my personal photography the wall really became something I enjoyed. At this point it's nearly full. It tells stories of the past seven years of my life - from senior in high school until just a month ago.
I'm planning on buying a house in the next few months and one thing I am dieing to work on are the walls. I want to fill the house with my photography, and do each room differently. The house I have in mind already has colorful walls, nothing like purple or red, but very nicely done. I'll have to change my framing / mounting habbits for those rooms, but others I can let loose on. I'll definitely keep an updated gallery going on my website (which hasn't been updated yet ...) so those who are interested can check it out.
Thanks for your interest - again I'll say how much I enjoy hearing peoples' comments on my project (:
