Last week
@Drgreenthumb977 kept me company as I ran some laps and thought about the format for the West Coast event. Here is my latest idea. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
-------
In order to keep it simple how about we race one car for a season worth of races?
q. How long is a Season
a. 3 weeks. That will give us a chance to get to know the car but also not become bored of it. Each season will be followed by a 1 week break.
q. Why do we need a break
a. Well I know I do. Trying to keep all these things updated is hard. The break will also allow everyone a good chance to prepare for the next season.
q. What will the next season be?
a. Well the winner of the previous season will get to choose the car. 2nd place will get to choose 2 tracks. 3rd place will choose the final track.
q. What will the races be.
a. The night will start out with a qualifying session of 6-10 minutes. That will be followed by a 10 minute sprint race. The result of the sprint race will decide the starting positions for Race 1. Race 2 will be a reverse grid race. Race 1 and 2 will each be 20 minute races. That should give us 1 hour of race time in about 90 minutes.
q. How will it be scored.
a. Race 1 and 2 will be scored 1st - 16, 2nd -15, 3rd - 14, …
q. Why will the sprint race not be scored.
a. The sprint race is a warm up race. It is sort of a final place to calm your nerves.
q. Are there any points for qualifying.
a. No. you get points for winning and finishing the races.
q. How do I sign up.
a. Just post in the thread your desire to take part.
q. When is the first official race.
a. That will depend on the signups. I would like to get 8 confirmed drivers before we officially launch. Before that we will try to meet up and do some practice and fun sessions. It will also allow us to iron out any issues with the format.
q. What is lineup.
a. TBD. But lets start out by allowing each person that signs up to choose one of the following pairings. The pairing with the most votes will be the cars we practice with leading up to the series. Once we have a start date all participants will vote between the two choices within the group.
Group A - Volkswagen Scirocco GT24 Base Model '08 / Honda INTEGRA TYPE R (DC5) Touring Car '04
Group B - Subaru IMPREZA GT300 Base Model '08 / Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR Touring Car '05
