Some of what (ok most) follows will sound familiar. That is because it is largely taken from the great series that @GGGMotorsport runs ( TCS / RCS ). It is being used with his permission.
Thanks Grim

Week 1
Honda CRX siR '90 @ Tsukuba - 389pp - CS - VF

Week 2
Ford RS 200 @ Autumn Ring - Reverse - 439pp - SM - VF

Week 3
BMW M3 CSL @ Tokyo R246 - 497pp - SS - VF

Week 4
Acura NSX LM Race Car @ Suzuka 2014 - 523pp - SS - VF

Race Format

  • Two - 40 minute timed races.
  • 10 minute break between races.
  • Grid position for first race determined by 10 minute qualifying season prior to the start of race one.
  • Grid position for second race determined by reverse finishing position from race one.
  • Do not leave the lobby between races. Should you leave or be disconnected and come back in between races, you will need to fall to the back of the field SAFELY prior to turn #1.
  • All competitors must complete a minimum of 1 pit stop per race.
  • Drivers coming off and on pit road always stay on the correct side of the pit road line (DO NOT cross the solid line).
  • All races will be run under clear weather conditions (no rain) however some races may be at night (refer to schedule for specifics).
  • If you get disconnected or decide to quit during a race you will get a DNF and finish last.
  • If more than one person quits or gets disconnected during a race, your finishing position will be determined by the number of laps completed.
Eligible Drivers

  • Current Top 8 drivers are potentially (see Knock-Out Qualifying for specifics) locked into the Main Events (Main Event Qualification and both A & B Main Event Races).
  • Prior to 8:00pm on the Friday before race night:
    • All current top 8 drivers must have confirmed in the official GTPlanet thread (this one) that they intend to race.
    • Simple post of “I plan to race this week or Confirmed” will meet this requirement.
    • 88GTA will track these and update the anticipated starting grid accordingly.
    • Any top 8 driver that fails to do the above by 8:00pm on the Friday before race night and wants to race in the Main Event will need to earn their spot on the grid by participating the Knock-Out Qualifying.
Application Procedure
Please post the following information in the thread
  • GTPlanet ID
  • PSN ID
  • Racing Number – Refer to Driver List below (Active & Retired Drivers) for Available Numbers.
  • Car Color - Body and Wheel colors (paint chip name) you plan to use.
  • By submitting your application you agree to the GTP OLR along with following The Good Racecraft Guide.
  • Only Complete driver applications per the above will be accepted for securing a spot in the series
  • While not required we do request that you share the car for the next race in your community section in the color combination you will be running. This should include your number if available on the car.
Knock-Out Qualifying

  • Each week, a KOQ Time Trial is set up for the upcoming weeks race.
  • The fastest KOQ times will be used to fill up slots x to 14 of the grid where x = the number of top 8 drivers that have confirmed they will be racing.
  • The Final 2 slots will be chosen at random from the list of remaining drivers that have participated in the KOQ Time Trial. This is only if we have more than 16 participants signed up for the event.
  • You can find the KOQ Time Trial in the Club Section
  • The KOQ Time Trial will be open from 11:00pm eastern on Sunday and will close at 11:00pm eastern on Friday
    • Once you are in the KOQ Time Trial, when you're ready, click the black & white (not yellow) start race flag and drive around until the timer expires and let the game take you back to the room lobby.
    • If you leave before the time expires, your time will not be recorded
  • If you are not one of the confirmed top 8 drivers locked into the next weeks race, you will need to record an official time in the KOQ Time Trial Event
  • You can submit as many times as you want
  • @88GTA will track the times and provide daily updates using the below format
  • Host must start the KOQ Time Trial just like any other race to record an official time
  • All Active Drivers are welcome to submit times (even if they are in the top 8)
  • Top 8 driver times will not count towards KOQ once they confirm that they will be racing that week
  • @88GTA will track who has confirmed and update the sheet accordingly
  • All top eight drivers MUST confirm participation by 11:00pm eastern on Friday!
    • This is to allow @88GTA to lock in how many spots are open
  • Friday evening, @88GTA will post the the final results and ask that the KOQ drivers to confirm their intent to race by 8:00pm on Race Day.
  • If we don't have confirmations by 8:00pm eastern on race night or if there are cancellations, the first alternate (and so on) will have the open spot on the grid.
    • If your an alternate, please indicate that you could race if spot opens up.
  • On race night, @JoeW will open the lobby to all main event drivers @ around 9:00pm eastern.
    • Any driver that is not in the room by 9:25pm eastern will lose their spot to the next alternate.
Active Driver
Defined as having priority over Retired drivers in Knockout Qualifying and/or Main Event Races. At the start of each season the series will be limited to 30 Active drivers.

  • New series applications will be accepted at the end of each season provided there are less than 30 Active drivers.
  • Retired drivers will need to request to be re-instated to active status during this time until the series reaches the 30 Active driver limit.

Thinking we can eliminate the KOQ portion until needed.

Also I heard some talk about practice this Sunday. We could run each combo in a 20 min race as a practice run if you guys want?

It wouldn't really give an accurate idea of pit stop strategy but it would at least familiarize everyone with the combos.

I figured I would set up the TT and we only need 8 more drivers until we need KOQ. So on one level I would like to leave it. If others disagree I can remove it.

And edit your sig;)

I need some images of the cars. I am thinking they should all be the same location/shot. Does anyone have the time to do that today?

I am in for this Sunday even though it means missing The Walking Dead. :(

@jobyone
When will the time trial go live? This Friday 2/6 or this Sunday 2/8 at 11pm EST?

I will try to get it live sooner rather than later. @GGGMotorsport will you be able to do a score sheet for the TT?

I have gone ahead and opened up the first KOQ Time Trial. While we only have 9 drivers signed up we might as well have it ready. If we do get more than 16 people to sign up prior to Friday the 13th KOQ rules will kick in. Since no racing has taken place no one has a safe spot for the inaugural event. I would suggest setting a time just in case:)

Week 1

Honda CRX siR '90 @ Tsukuba - 389pp - CS - VF

Knock-Out Qualifying

Just a reminder that ANYONE that is not a confirmed Top 8 drivers and want's to race next week, must attempt to qualify using the KOQ process. Additionally, Top 8 drivers are welcomed to submit times if they wish and will not impact KOQ process.

Once you are in the KOQ Time Trial, when you're ready, click the black & white (not yellow) start race flag and drive around until the timer expires and let the game take you back to the room lobby. If you leave before the time expires and takes you back to the room lobby, your time will not be recorded.

This Week's KOQ closes on Friday 2/13/15 @ 11:00pm eastern.

Hopefully we will soon have a nice chart of the times:)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Grim, I made a slightly new image for the Qualifying post. It is in my post for the KOQ.

Good time on the Time Trial @Kgffy. I was running laps and finally dropped in the the 1:10.9s to get a 1:10.8 it would need to be a perfect lap for me.

I am going to work on a spotters guide for the DTC event but I will need a little bit of help from everyone. I think it will be easiest to use the images from the share car feature in the Community section (Like the ones I have used for the lineup). If you want your car in the spotters guide simply share it in your community section and then post in the thread that it is there. I will then grab it and add it to the guide. This is totally voluntary but don't be left out;) The images will end up something like this.

I've decided on a color: Santa Fe Orange/Grey or default wheels.

I've also gone ahead and shared my cars for the spotter's guide (and sent a friend request). 👍

Silly question time - how the heck to you take that photo?

Just add the car to your favorites (might be called share) in the my cars community section. I then go to gran-turismo.com and log in to the community section. Then simply go to the my page section and choose favorite cars. I then just screengrab it.

The nice thing is if other people share their cars in this way you can go to their section and grab the image;) You would not need to paint everyones cars!
