So does anyone else feel like the SRT VGT cars represent everything that is wrong with "The Real Driving Simulator"?

I mean I nearly got gold on the SRT/Nurb time trial using nothing but 2nd gear until the final straight. Please do not think I hate the idea of the VGT cars as I feel there is a place for them in the game. However it seems like they have come at the expense of any real cars. Other than the M4 have we really gotten a new real car since the game came out? Yet we have close to 20 VGT cars most of which I will only drive for the time trials. I am sure it is cheaper for PD (no license fees) and that they are busy creating the new cars for GT7 but come on give us some new cars. Surely 1 a month is doable. Heck I would even be happy to pay to have say 5 standard cars upgraded to premium each month.

I want GT7 to be awesome. I want pCars to be awesome. I want Assetto Corsa to be awesome. Right now I think the choice is hurting the genre. That might not be true but right now it all feels so divided and segregated. One game does this well the other does that. Hopefully that will change and each game will develop into the promise that they all have. Right now I am just frustrated with them.

With all the debate over the G29 vs T300 I still think I will pony up for the G29 when it hits. The fit and finish is just way better, stainless bits, much better pedals (even slightly improved over the G27 pedals) and proven reliability. My old DFGT is still going strong after all these years. The T300 pedals are supposedly even worse than my DFGT pedals...so I'd have to spend $550-$600 just to get a decent T300 setup.

Unfortunately $399 is still a lot of money so I will end up having to sell my PS3 (and associated items) to justify it to the wife. So when mid-late August comes I will probably migrate to PCARS completely until GT7 hits the PS4.

I do think think GT7 will be awesome but every time I see a new Vision car I just cringe. I really hate make believe cars in the game. I want real stuff. I hope GT7 can come back to that by giving us more actual cars and maybe trim some of the fat off their current lot of multiple duplicates of the same basic cars (Miatas, Skylines, RX-7s etc).

I am kinda feeling the same. Sell the PS3/G27 and get PS4/G29 and just make do with pCars until Assetta Corse and GT7 come out.

Correct....and only AC since I'm not forking out the price for PCars when it's already obsolete as they want funding for PCars2 now :P
What are your thoughts on AC? Will you be tempted to get a PS4 when GT7, AC and pCars are all available for it?

Speaking of gaming PCs. I am pretty out of date with PC's so all the names and numbers for the required specs are just doing my head in. If any of you have a good grasp of the state of PCs could you let me know if any of these cheap gaming specs pcs http://elitegamingcomputers.com/good-cheap-gaming-computers/ meat the minimum and recommended specs for pCars? http://www.projectcarsgame.com/faq.html

If no one here knows I will post in the pCars forums but figured I am less likely to get a Fish Slap here;)

A good place to start getting up to date (which is what I do every 3-4 years when I need to update my home PC) is go to www.tomshardware.com and start there. Figure out which CPU you want...AMD/Intel and then go to motherboards. They have good "system builder" articles within certain budgets that list the items they use and the performance you can expect.

It's always easy to build from the www.newegg.com site as well.

I used pcpartspicker since it tells you whether or not the parts you want are compatible with each other....very handy for me :)

Edit: also, when I was building mine, both @kcheeb and @cmbeal317 said that the one of the most important thing to consider first was the graphics card and go from there.

More links for you, joby; CPU and graphics card comparisons from the $700 build to PCars minimum.

We're racing tonight? Front page says Scirocco road car so you guys can all use that while I drive the Integra TC, that's very fair in my view :D

Edit; just realised that the Cup race is on tonight so I'm out. Why it is I don't know since it's typically a Saturday night. No reason for you lot to get Monday off since July 6 means SFA.

Sorry guys. Just updated the OP to show we are on a break. Of course people are welcome to open up a lobby and just have some fun. Do it in public lobby and maybe it can be a recruiting tool.

Typically, the Coke Zero 400 is a Sat night race. Reason for it being on Sun night is the 4th of July was on a Sat and Nascar didn't want to interrupt everyone's celebration. I hope they get the track dry.

damn you. I so want to drive that

It's quite the handful and it locks up the tyres quite easily (unless I am just plain terrible at driving it). We're taking it to Adelaide (F1 track, not V8 Supercar) next so I've been practicing in order to not be a complete muppet like I was last time out
