Hi @Ph1sher, I'm a maybe at this stage for this weekend as my force feedback on my fanatec suddenly decided to die on me while using it on max settings :( its now really weak and notchy. Im considering running with no FFB or on 10/100 or maybe I can borrow my mates G27. Ill have to wait and see

I run my DFGT at full feedback, and every night I get scared that it will be the last night (especially when time trialing) as I'm sure the motors inside are made of plastic, bottle caps, and wishes.

But then I instantly remind myself that my annual bonus is coming up and that would be a perfect excuse to upgrade!

When I ran my g27, I only used 3-4 ffb. You get enough resistance without killing the wheel.

I cranked mine up to 10 because it made it a lot easier to feel where the perfect turn angle for a corner... as soon as it starts to understeer I can really feel the feedback cut out and know that I've turned the wheel too hard allowing me to slowly back off until I feel it catch again.

I can feel it on lesser strengths, but it doesn't shout at me like it does cranked all the way up... and I prefer to make it as obvious as possible so that it more or less shouts "you're turning too hard" at me, requiring less brain processing power and more just muscle memory

Also, my brother just got his G27 and he quickly shot up and started beating my times... unacceptable

There's a very lengthly and technical write up on GTP about FFB and how it actually works. Too technical for me to explain as I would have to understand it in order to do that. However, it was very clear in stating that just the opposite is the reality. It stated that many people have the FFB turned up too high (even past 6 or 7 is considered to high in some cases) which makes the software start averaging FFB levels instead of interpreting them exactly as they are. It stated that by turning down the FFB levels, you will have MORE sensitivity to actually distinguish between certain types of forces. It also recommended that the setting be changed for each and every different car and drive-line system as they each have their own way of sending FFB signals. It recommended running it between 3 and 6 depending on drive-line. I turned mine down from 7 to 4 and found it to be much more sensitive.

Also want to add ..... when I first heard about your plans to produce stickers (and Tee-shirts) I wasn't very interested as I hate covering up nice stuff with tacky stickers (just my longtime inate philosophical perspective). That being said, I was VERY impressed by the job that jay*doc did in designing that first sticker. It was way better than I imagined it would be and quite professional from a design standpoint. Kudos to you sir

Good to know, I'll have to do some experimenting. Sometime...
Still have to finish that damn Pinewood Derby car that is just hogging all my time this week since weigh-ins are this weekend... fun fact: trying to build an R18 "inspired" car out of a little block of wood is a challenge... in case anyone was considering trying it out

Maybe I'm still half asleep, but I don't get it :dunce:
Right at the start, everyone seems to have gotten the jump on you.

But, seriously... I think we need to start an "Help ANFD Get Fiber Fund" because that video kicked ass. I love the Highlight reel style, replays from different angles... I think the only thing that could possibly think to make it just slightly cooler would be to add some sort of Lap marker to show what lap each bit of action was happening on.

Now, I really AM excited about driving in D2 this weekend (I was lying before to hide the pain)

I think we can all find things that we think will make our videos better. However, since I have about 8 hours in producing the video (scanning replay footage back and forth etc. and then editing the actual video) and then another 10 hours uploading it, I just don't think I'll have much more time for any refinements.

Hence the Fiber Fund, cut back that upload time hahaha
Seriously though, it was awesome. I look forward to more.

A large part of a video's worthiness is the combination of visual and audio excitement. The FT-1 is such a subdued and quiet running car that there is almost no game audio to be captured. At least that's the way it was when I made a previous video from a race at the Motegi oval track and someone commented that the audio was consequently "out of balance". The lack of game audio really detracts from the viewers enjoyment so I'm thinking of passsing on a video next week. I do love Spa and think that it is one of the best visual tracks to be captured, so I am also disappointed. I will run a test to see if there is any difference possibly at the way the game renders the audio between the two tracks.

And the pain is back :ouch:

Edit: Also, for the record, I'm at work so I watched the whole video silent and I still thought it was awesome.

Wife just informed me that the ps3 has arrived. To bad I'm 390 miles from home. I'll probably do the updates tonight, then the license test tomorrow and practice running spa Friday night.

Glad I can win the car and not have to grind credits to buy it.

I should also add that the Silverstone race was a particularily long race (40 laps) which made the video production that much more of an effort. Ph1sher and I have discussed making a special Turtle Racing Intro video and I'd like to do it. I've done this before for a "Team" and it looked awesome - even by my standards. However, it would require a special night of special racing just to capture the kind of footage required for such a "dynamic" project. Here's what we would have to do ..... 1) get a full room 2) stage back to back 3 lap races one after the other at the same track (about 5 of them) 3) record it all 4) edit it all to have the appearance of one closely packed, hard fought single race. This keeps people in close proximity to each other for every shot and allows each driver to be individually featured dicing with each other. If the pack gets too spread out, we can (via headsets) have the lead pack slow to let others catch up and then commence the dicing part :dopey: This kind of video has to be fairly short, about 2 to 3 minutes so it will be fast paced, action filled quick cuts.

Hollywood style.

Attention Defect Disorder?
"Deficit"... but yea...

It's one of the reasons I like racing so much, because it forces me to pay attention... if all of a sudden I'm thinking about anything else I'm crashing, burning, dying, and my family is presented with a hood ornament as the only thing they could recover from the wreck. It's attention training for me...

Which, probably also explains the spins

Deficit. Okay. I have ADHD. That right there should explain why I talk too much.

Edit: I ask too many questions. Something I can't help.
