I'm at my other home tomorrow night and obviously can't bring my whole playseat with me, so I'm going to have to tough it out with the DS3 for the races :( I'm going to apologize right now to you guys in D1 if I cause any incidents because I'm not using my steering wheel

one more question have any of you had you system completely freeze up while playing this game happened to me tonight during practice wondering if i should replace ps3

Yeah, it's happened to me quite often. I freed up some space on the hard drive and no problems since...I was down to 500MB now I've got 20G's of free space...seems to have worked.

I searched a bit and saw that Jordan had fixed someone with a similar name issue. I sent him a message to try to help me out.

That practice session was interesting. I think I need to get a wheel, as the regular controller kills me on some of those turns.
Wheels are better for the most part but the controller is better for quick adjustments. Otaku uses a DS3 and he's very fast. I use DS3 as well but am saving my nickels for a G27 My index fingers are starting to go numb during Enduro races 👎

What buttons are you using for gas / brake? I've always used the default X for gas and □ for brake. I guess it seems like R2 for gas and L2 for brake might be better because you can feather them, but I think it might take a while to get used to.

I've also been eyeing the G27. Anyone have an opinion on what to look for if I find a used one? What sort of things tend to break first?

Is there any chance I could get sign up in fortip:tomorrows race? :)
Of course, just refer to the drivers list, pick an unused color combo and a number and your set 👍

Welcome to turtle racing league

Could I have Light Blue with black wheels? And number 77?

Cheers!
Yes, ill add your color combo and number to the drivers list

Welcome to Turtle Racing League!

Edit: #77 is taken, second choice?

I have a G27 as well, for me I'm faster in a wheel than a ds3. I do suggest a G27 over any wheel on the market as I've heard the G27 is the current best wheel on the market today I know DFGT tend to break.. ahh yeah that pretty much it

Thanks for the welcome! Please choose the number, I'm easy

I've noticed people have theirs for a few years with no problems... They're slightly invincible, so if something did go wrong, it would probably still be under warranty.

Springs wear out, but that's after about a year or more, and replacements cost about $30

Sounds good, thanks

@Devolution if you could choose a color combo and a number you want to run, that would be great! (Color combo and number is on the drivers list which is on the first page just scroll down)

I'm angry that I have to use my DS3 tonight instead of my wheel...:banghead:🤬👎:irked::mad:

Just my two cents worth relative to Phish's comment about the G27 being the best wheel. It took over a year for GT5 to officially support the G25/G27 wheel. The Thrustmaster T500RS was developed with PD's involvement and is recognized as the best wheel for conveying and converting the code for force feedback in GT. It also has a 1 inch larger diameter wheel than the Logitech and much more powerful FFB motors. I also have one of the first G25 wheels, used it for 4 years and only had trouble with the micro switches on the paddle shifters. I loved that wheel a lot. I've had the Thrustmaster for just over 2 years now and one of the two brake pedal springs broke recently. Thrustmaster sent me a "spring set" with enough springs to rebuild all 3 pedals for free (including shipping). However, whenever I use a G25 or G27 wheel today, I feel like I'm playing with a toy by comparison.

Totally understand i was going from my experience, never had problems of course others have opinions which is great and hey maybe the g27 isn't so good for some people after all. No worries, I'm glad you brought this up for another opinion on it

Thanks ANFD

I had a T500RS brake spring break on me last week. How did you contact thrustmaster? through the website? email? phone? right now i have it rigged up to work, but i dunno how long it will last.

Certainly compared to the cheaper "plastic" wheels like the DFGT, the G27 is far superior. With leather wrapped/stainless steel wheel construction and 2 FFB motors it is far superior. The cheaper wheels also use plain bushings to support the wheel shaft whereas the G25/G27 use conventional ball bearings.

One of the two tension/resistance springs broke in my Thrustmaster brake pedal about 3 weeks ago. I've been driving since with what I call a "floppy pedal". I contacted them via email, thru the "Support" link on their web-site and they replied the next day asking for some information (shipping address etc.). They sent me a "spring kit" which contains 6 springs with which you can replace all the springs in all 3 pedals. The kit was shipped free including shipping. The two brake pedal springs are considerably stiffer than the clutch and throttle springs which are all the same. I put the two new brake pedal springs in the brake and used the unbroken brake pedal spring in the rebuild of the throttle which added a bit more tension/resistance to it, which I have been wanting for a long time. It took about 8 days for the kit to arrive. They asked for a photo of the broken spring but I told them that I had already thrown it away. They needed a proof of purchase so I just did a Microsoft "snip" of my Amazon account order and attached it like a photo. I raced my first race with the Turtles last night after the rebuild (Elise @ Mt. Panorama) and had to completely relearn how to drive. It's amazing what a small difference in pedal feel can do your car control (or lack of it). PS: Recalibration was a real chore and I had to improvise a bit ... let me know if you have the same issue and I'll tell you what I did :sly:
