My son's Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby officially started this month... Couldn't have been better timing since he spends almost as much time on GT6 as I do these days so his first reaction was "I want to build a Le Mans car!"

So, if I disappear randomly for the next month (I'll definitely still be racing on Saturday nights) it's because I'm off redesigning the R18 TDI with 0 downforce, haha.:D

As much as I can't stand the Boy Scouts sometimes, I do appreciate the one event a year that lets us geek out over physics and engineering rather than how to identify whether a leaf came from an Oak tree or an Elm... :odd:

Does your sons pack have an open division? I used to make my own car as well. One year I made a "copy" of the Pagani Zonda R (minus the wing) that took 3rd out of 27.
 
Technically, no. I'm only here to "help" and do the major cutting.

And by "help" I mean, teach him the physics of gravity, friction, and how to minimize deceleration along the flat. :sly:

Right, I didn't help much with my two boys cars either other than using the bandsaw. I think what I remember the most is the complaining about all the sanding. They loved the painting and decal work though.

The open division was really popular with parents, past scouts and sister siblings taking part. We paid $5 for the car/entry fee and the current scouts were free to enter. Some of the parent designs were outrageous too.

highly recommend clearing cache before entering practice.

also, host will ask to type in the chat box that you are ready and how many cars you see on track (i.e. rdy, 16). this is to check for the 'invisible car glitch'.

Hello everyone. Got an invitation for the league. I've went through the rules and regulations. After going through the unused color combos and numbers, I've decided to use this: #41/SilverFire/SilverFire41/Yellow car/Pink wheels.:)
 
I'm out for my usual Wednesday evening ritual of dinner and drinks, but I'll see if anyone's still around practicing when I get back (provided that I haven't had too many, unless anyone needs practice dodging drunk drivers :)
 
Start race one without me I'll be there for number two
 
@RacingOtaku86 if other turtles are trying to join assign a host to open up another room if room is full send a few turtles over there as well
 
I won't be returning as soon as I anticipated. .instead of buying a ps3, I bought my boys a wii because they love Mario. Within a hour I already had it modded to play NES and SNES games. :D I'll probably just wait until tax time to get a new ps3.
